Funding Available The Hythe Institute Fund considers applications for funding from local organisations including schools, scouts and guide groups, sports clubs and the trustees of local halls and facilities; who may require funds for maintenance or improvements. The recipients must be in the Hythe parish (including Hythe, Seabrook, Saltwood, Palmarsh, Lympne and Newingreen).

Local help during Covid19 pandemic No one should feel as though they are alone during this challenging time. Folkestone, Hythe & Romney Marsh are pulling together and your community is here to help to: • • • • •
Provide food for those not able to get or prepare it themselves Assist with the collection and delivery of food orders Collect and deliver medical supplies Walk dogs Offer someone to talk to for advice and reassurance
Assistance is not limited to the above - we will try and assist our vulnerable residents in any way we can. Anyone who cannot go out (whether self-isolating, immobile or unwell) and who does not have support networks (friends, family, neighbours) to do this for them should contact the Community Hub in their area. There are three Community Hubs serving our area. They are run by volunteers and supported by Folkestone & Hythe District staff and resources. You can volunteer to help if you are not one of the at risk group who should be self-isolating (although anyone can volunteer to make phone calls). There’s more information available at www.folkestone-hythe.gov.uk/ community-hub Council Services: Council offices are closed to personal callers but most staff are still working and contactable on the usual email and telephone numbers. Formal council meetings are cancelled but much work is still continuing by email and tele/video conferencing. You can also still contact your local councillor by phone or email (see the council website). The kerbside waste and recycling services are running as normal. 9
The Household Waste Recycling Centres are closed (their staff are helping with the kerbside collections). Libraries are closed but you can still borrow e-books and emagazines. We have given priority in our services to supporting the most vulnerable and our staff are coping with a reduction in numbers because of sickness and the need for some to self-isolate. At this exceptional time, please make allowances and be patient when you contact us for ‘normal’ business. We thank all those helping our community during the pandemic and ask you all to continue to take care of yourselves and each other. Help us to save Prospect Cottage
We are delighted to announce an exciting partnership between Art Fund, Creative Folkestone and Tate to save and preserve Prospect Cottage in Dungeness, the home and garden of visionary filmmaker, artist and activist, Derek Jarman.
Prospect Cottage continues to be a site of pilgrimage for people from all over the world who come to be inspired by its stark beauty and by Jarman’s legacy. Without this public appeal, Prospect Cottage is at risk of being sold privately, its contents dispersed, and artistic legacy lost. With your help a total of £3.5m needs to be raised by 31 March 2020 to help purchase Prospect Cottage, which will enable continued free public access to the cottage's internationally celebrated garden, the launch of an artist residency programme, and a programme of guided visits within the cottage itself. Major grants from the National Heritage Memorial Fund, Art Fund, the Linbury Trust, and private donations have already taken the campaign half-way towards its target. Art Fund is now calling on the public to make donations of all sizes to raise the funds still needed.

They discover a wonderful area called Prince's Parade which is full of amazing animals, has a beautiful canal and is right next to the sea too! By buying this book you will be helping to protect it. All profits from it will be donated to the Save Prince's Parade campaign which aims to halt plans to develop the area into a housing estate.
This walk through the history of Sandgate to the present day was first performed at the Chichester Hall a decade ago on Wednesday, 9th June. It is now available on Kindle or in paperback.
