NEVER SAY TREVOR AGAIN
BY HELENA GOMMFrom the Director
Never Say Trevor Again is the sequel to our 2019 production Diamonds Are For Trevor. Once again, we find that James Bond is unavailable when MI6 summon him for duty, so his younger brother Trevor has to step into his shoes – which he is only too happy to do. After all, he’s always wanted to have a go at this secret agent business.

The success of Diamonds resulted in many offers of things we might like to include if we were ever to do a sequel. Who could resist when these included a Tiger Moth, which then turned into two Tiger Moths plus a radio-controlled model?
As ever, the generosity of owners of planes, expensive cars, equipment, suitable filming venues and even beloved family pets astounds me.
We started doing the filmed sections in late July. Occasional attacks of Covid and periods of unhelpful weather of various kinds gave us a few anxious moments, and getting the entire film crew, actors, extras, pilots, drivers and equipment in the same place at the same time over the course of several months was something only the extremely organised and talented
David Cradduck could achieve. And, as ever, the show owes a lot to the talent, ideas and expertise of Jim Glaister
I am immensely grateful to everyone who has been involved in whatever capacity. Particular thanks go to the following:
For providing bikes, cars, planes and piloting skills: Bill Airey, Steve Bohill-Smith, David Bintcliffe, Sally Cradduck, Mark Knott, Andrew Mackay, Jeff Milsom, Paul Raworth.
For providing filming locations:
Rupert Boissier, Sophie and Will BeardmoreGray, Linda and Mike Davies, Jim Griffiths, Julian and Claire Hartwell, Jeff Milsom and the Tiger 9 display team, Graham Silk, Rupert and Catherine Younger, Sally and Glynn Williams.
For the loan and construction of equipment and props:
Mandy Hickson, Jim and Yvonne Noble, James Price, Melissa Simm, Will Thompson, Steve Wall, Chris Warlow, West Meon Care Group.
Putting together this show has been an enormous amount of fun, and I hope that you will enjoy it.

He’s back and he’s done it again! Another sell-out show two months before opening night and two extra performances to boot! Well done and thank you, Trevor. Our real thanks, of course, should go to our director, Helena and everyone involved in the production. The work that has gone on over the summer to create the film sequences has been exhilarating and frustrating in equal measure and as I write, stage rehearsals in the hall are in full swing. We’re all having fun; we hope you do too.
Whilst this production is another diversion from our normal format, you can rest assured that The Players calendar will be filled with our usual offerings in the coming months. By the time you read this we will be looking forward to our Christmas play reading on December 7th.
Our Spring production is under way and will be a zany comedy entitled The Massive Tragedy of Madame Bovary! Dates for your diary are 25th to 29th April 2023 and tickets will be on sale from 1st February. Keep an eye on your emails and our website for further information.
We really appreciate your continued support of The Players and are pleased to have so much enthusiasm for our productions. Do spread the word, we are always on the lookout for new members.
Thanks to each and every one of you for coming this evening, we hope you enjoy the show.
Marilyn Weston

Helena Gomm
(Director)Helena has regularly appeared on stage for West Meon Theatre and for Cheriton Players since moving to Hampshire in 1997. In 2013, she made her first foray into directing, with Neville’s Island for West Meon Theatre. This was followed by Night of January 16th (2015) and The 39 Steps (2019)
The first production that Helena directed for Cheriton Players was Cash on Delivery (the one with the belligerent, radio-controlled washing machine). Since then, she has directed The Game’s Afoot (2017) and Diamonds Are For Trevor (2019), which she also adapted from an original script by Simon Tytherleigh.
(Director of Photography)Jim is an actor, director, writer, filmmaker, songwriter and drummer. He is a member of the Chesil Theatre in Winchester and plays in local band Hornblower Down. Jim’s involvement with the Cheriton Players began with 2018’s Fallen Angels, where Jim provided a short 1920s-style silent film.
This led to him making the film sequences for 2019’s Diamonds Are For Trevor, for which Hornblower Down also recorded some of the music. He appeared on the Cheriton stage in 2021 as the duplicitous Hugo in Murder Weapon and has now returned to behind the camera for Diamonds’ sequel Never Say Trevor Again, which has given him an opportunity to further stretch himself as a filmmaker.
