Comments David DaSilva Pre Match Talk, not too sure about the choice of music to motive before a game, I must be getting old. Good to see the players understand what is required and you have guided them where it needs to be directed. Excellent with three boards easy to go into each moment. Set Piece board, have the picture also with the positioning of the GK in attacking Corners, also set up the rest defence to counter the counter and who is doing what. The other part of set pieces is what happens in the second phase, 1st Phase getting ball in the box or setting up a shot on goal, what happens when the ball lands in the box, or the defending GK does not clear the ball outside the area (Second Phase) remember the DOVES theory, Delivery, Organisation, Variety, Execution, and Second Phase. Final moment block lanes when they have possession in their half, could have moved the magnet to actually show blocking the lane, to see ball and player. Very precise to the point, easy to understand. Half Time Speech ( Sound low) Boards Set Up, discussion with assistant (Player), first few minutes for the players. Players in groups. 1. No support for the 9 when played between the lines, 10 dropping to support not allowing forward runs. Need one of the holding midfielders to be underneath to support allowing the 10 for a third man run. Summary of not keeping possession in the middle third, due the pass to opposite midfielder, leaving no cover of the CB’s ( Just looking at what was on the board it appears that the 9 was able to get between the lines, there was no reference of the 9 facing forward and being able to play into the midfielders forward run, then no need for a player to be underneath, maybe a principle here is , if a player unable to play forward a player needs to underneath.) Good encouragement. 2. Good question about defensive performance. Good getting the player to show on the board the question. Not sure if there was a solution for this as it drifted into the positioning of the midfielders.

There was a reminder of objectives for the game, good interchange with the players, then the discussion of the positioning of the midfielders, it appears not clear what their roles are with and without the ball. Another principle here is when defending it 4 +2 (Point forward), when attacking or in possession, there is one holder the other two midfielders are positions of (Playing point backs ) Another task that could be used, when one midfielder who is low (6), one is high (10), third midfielder adjusts to the other two midfielders to create the triangle. I have noticed in the last 4 games conceding a lot of goals to the top 4 clubs, realise it is a young squad, but defending in general is not just the midfielders as we both know it is a collective. So hope the squad has been able to work through these moments and see that keeping effective possession and working as group when possession is lost is the learning moments for them if they want to take the next steps. Keep the good work going, well done.
