THE LEMON PHILOSOPY
Hi, I’m Davide. Born in 1988, graduated from design faculty at Polytechnic of Milan in product design for innovation.
I want to explain my point of view of design using a metaphor with a lemon.
Lemon is a fruit that in addition to I’m a designer who likes to explore differ- having an energetic, bright and sunny color, it possesses the ability to change ent worlds and thinking about strategy and future concepts. During my academic its flavor and sharp character depending how it is served. and professional path, I had tried different experiences in different design areas: Naturally harsh, with the addition of from furniture to concept, from interiors sugar and water becomes a refreshing to the product value chain. drink, if you freeze it you’ll get a cooling sorbet. Also, you can use it with a lot of different ingredients: fruit, meat, vegetables, cakes and teas. Design for me is like a lemon: simple, fresh and clean. Without a precise style but, able to adapting to the specific situation of finding the best solution.

acorn design new brand of home accessories Acorn design is a new brand for home that does home accessories and lighting. Different products, like clocks, pots, hangers and little lamps are made in wood with a specific and unique style. Each product brings with it a little story that can be read to discover the object itself. In the role of Art director I’ve started defining the type of objects, their style, colours and materials. I’ve also set the business plan to understand the development, our strenght and find any competitor. As designer I’ve set the corporate image, the communication and, in the other hand, start to define some products. www.acorndesign.it

books as objects of high aesthetic value Original ambition of the project is to redefine the word “book”, its idea, its phenomenology: reformulate the container for a new perception of the content.
The first object of the BBooks collection, contains texts called “hermetic” coming from the world of introspective reflection. The non-book has complex shapes, intricate, unexpected; mixture of different materials, ancient and modern, a unique shape and significant: a sphere in 9 different modular units, of which only two identical done in different wood essence, connected from inside with a roll that contain the text. The different woods used for the 9 pieces are relate to the contents of each text. in this project I worked both in the graphic communications defining the corporate identity (website, business cards, press kit, ...) both in the product definition (wooden ball and internal components) website: www.bbooks.it

table and chair for a convivial occasion
Inpiù | TABLE came up with a question linked to this idea: Why, instead to add a new chair to make space for our friend, don’t we extend the table? A round table, now, is being expanded sideways to add one more place without sacrificing too much of the space at the bar. Inpiù | CHAIR has soft and slender shapes and it want to invite you to sit down and enjoy your coffee break with a good company. Inpiù | Family All the project was driven from two different proxemic scales linked to the idea of collectivity: - The first, more direct and intuitive, is the moment of a coffee break. Although the tables aren’t big, it allows a convivial moment without going against the laws of proxemics because space and form come together in an aggregate way that allows you to use the table also in odd numbers. - The second, larger, is about a reflection about the spaces of bars, often small and narrow. I’ve tried to work on soft and small shape to not hamper the movements of the clients. The shape also allows some organic and “fluid” configurations to create ambient “soft” to view and “comfortable” to use.

calenda management needs’ of mutual interest This project was developed for the Samsung Young Design Award 2011: “New technology for new families. It was ranked among the top 10 projects. Calenda is a technological evolution of the traditional calendar (understood as a tool to help you organizing your everyday life) but offering a richer range of options for use. Thanks to technology Calenda synchronizes all the events (such as appointments) posted by different community members through different tools (PC, smartphone and tablet) and thus helps people organizing their daily schedule. The members of the new family may physically be in different locations at a different time but, though find great support in this new product which allows an easy management of the common interests and needs (appointments, deadlines, reminders).

h2o bracelet water like a jewel
Water is a precious element on Earth. How we can communicate this? H2O Bracelet is the answer, it can be used like a seasonal fashion accessory. Simple & elegant it is for all kinds of people. The aim of the bracelet is to communicate the value of the water in a fashion way; a little plant will grow in its body, water in the capsule will help the seed growing. The materials were chosen because of their physical properties: the body consists of a 99% biodegradable thermoplastic elastomer (Apinat BIO) while a 99% water based Idrogel was chosen for the capsule. This bracelet is designed to become a seasonal fashion object (like Toolate, Shokky bandz, ‌), this being the best way to quickly promote the message involved.

midĂŹ ceramic and wicker basket MidĂŹ is a kit for bread consisting of a ceramic and wicker basket accompanied by a jute and linen bag. The rustic and natural characteristics of bread are evoked by suitable colour tones and materials. Material and tactile effects are very important in this project: the surface texture and the optical wicker and jute weaving confirm the identity of this product.

a wine good to drink and good for contemplation
Nino Negri, a brand of excellence of the Gruppo Italiano Vini and noble winery of the Valtellina, decides to experiment the formula of a highly sustainable wine with respect to its various production phases. The criteria of the Life cycle analysis were applied to understand the best strategies in every specific technical passage. The project has seen the involvement of the Master Department of Strategic Design of Milan’s Polytechnic, as well as the collaboration of wine experts Casimiro Maule and Giacomo Mojoli: from the project guidelines, to naming, to the product’s graphics and packaging, a strongly coherent product system was therefore developed in which Sustainability, Concreteness, Innovation, Uniqueness and Research represent the strengths of a pioneering, experimental wine which is deeply rooted in the territory, but destined to constitute a first emblematic example in a sector which continues to expand and develop. In this project I worked from the initial phases defining the sustainability criteria and after I focused my work on the comunicative part developing the label of the bottle. www.sciur.it

analysis process
From Grape to Glass, is a tool that allows the winery to highlight different sustainable aspects that running along the entire wine value chain. It also allows to find a focused method of communication for transmitting these values. The company perceives its positivity, as any critical issues, and starts a process of self-awareness that can lead to the development of the first as to the resolution of the seconds. It can change itself towards a business model sustainable and virtuous. website: www.awarenessdesign.it

made 4 ceramics INTERDISCIPLINARY EXPLORATION ON THE CERAMICS FUTURE MADE EXPO 2013 By bringing together 2 historical exhibits, 45 best practices, 12 specific proposals by international architects, 5 art installations, 3 major training centres, 3 experiential laboratories, and 4 days of passionate debate and public conferences, MADE 4 Ceramics - ceramics earth culture - has hoped to provide visitors with insights into what we are building, through a visual depiction of the issues and the possible strategic scenarios that might be enacted to address the coming decade. All the project and the artist direction were driven by Giulio Ceppi and Fortunato D’Amico. Inside the project, behind the instruction of the architect I’ve designed the layout of the exhibition and I did the whole research of the ceramic world.

ceramuserie new decorations for interior The large format slabs represent the latest technological and performance frontier in the world of ceramics, also for interiors. We think it would be interesting to pursue a new dialogue, with the tradition of the wallpapers, boiseries or stuccos. The advantages in the applications of ceramic are enhanced by the resilience of the decorations in polyurethane profiles with new expressive opportunities: the variables of the compositional logic, of the colour, the combination of modules, up to the insertion of and alternation with other materials, offer overall an interesting catalogue of solutions. A rigorous and functional modularity on the one hand, rather than extreme personalization, will enrich and connote a hall or waiting area, corridors or passages but also swimming pools, wellness and fitness areas, in which the complete hygroscopicity and high mechanical resistance of the materials, as well as their easy-to-clean characteristics and hygiene, guarantee application opportunities. In this project I search and develop new scenarios and different types of decoration.

NIDLA a layout for hotel’s apartments
moodboard: Hybridization western e indian style
New Interior Design for Leela Apartments (NIDLA) is a redefinition project for a new service of Leela hotels. For this project, we work in two different design layers: architecture, we set a new apartment’s layout and interior design, we played with materials (coming from Indian heritage) and furniture (coming from Europe culture). In terms of interior design, we have established design guidelines to create a sort of hybridization of materials, colors and finishes belonging to the Indian culture and furnishings, lighting and complements the large Italian design (B&B, De Padova, Boffi, Scavolini, Agape, Flos, Foscarini, Lualdi, Roda, Serralunga). There are also designed texture to be applied to different materials to be used in this hybrid reality.

piedibus un servizio per camminare la cittĂ What is Piedibus? The main objective of Piedibus is to improve mobility and air pollution problems in the city, involving parents and children going to and from school without using automobiles. The Piedibus [Footbus] is a “caravanâ€? of children protected by 2-3 assigned adults, moving along a well established and marked path leading to their school, and involves children, teachers, families, senior citizens and volunteers. The design phase was re-classified for the communication system to give new visual and color priorities to this system which today may be further enhanced by integrating sustainable public transportation and car sharing. In the project I made the brochure of the new communication system and finished the various products already designed.
