THE FUTURE IS David Hathaway Although we have left 2020 behind, in 2021 we are facing many, many difficulties – foreseen and unforeseen. I want you to look at it spiritually. Yes, vaccines are being rolled out and we look forward to being able to resume more normal activities. But in the UK we are also dealing with the aftermath of Brexit; there is political and social turmoil in America; and worldwide, among other things, we are having to face up to the economic responsibilities generated by this Covid pandemic. I don’t think anyone has a clear answer! But you and I, as Christians, should have a clearer view of the future than the politicians! Politicians can only act in worldly understanding and experience. As Christians, we also base a lot on past experience – but we have confidence in a God who has seen the future before it happens! In my life, at particular times, God has revealed to me the prophetic future. One time when this happened, back in 1993 when I was about to begin my great campaigns in Russia, I was in the middle of preaching, and what happened was like this: Normally a prophet stands on Friday, and from where he is, he sees what will happen on Sunday. But as I was preaching, it was as if I was already standing on Monday, looking back on the prophecy fulfilled on the Sunday! As if I was already standing on the other side and seeing the fulfilment of prophecy behind me. Even now, as I look to the future prophetically, it’s as if I’m looking back! I want to encourage you very much from Isaiah 30:18: ‘Therefore will the Lord wait, that He may be gracious to you and – in being gracious to you – He will be exalted, that He may have mercy on you. For the Lord is a God of judgement – but – blessed are they who wait for Him.’ The Lord will WAIT, that He may be gracious to you! That might sound strange. But in other words, God may not be able to be gracious to you today, because He has to WAIT until a future appointed time in order to do it! In v19 the prophet continues, ‘The people shall dwell in Zion, in Jerusalem. You shall weep no more! He will be very gracious to you at the voice of your cry. When He hears it, He will answer you!’ The people who dwell in Zion shall weep no more, because He, the Lord, will be very gracious to you! And in v20, ‘Although the Lord give you the bread of adversity and the water of

affliction, yet your teachers shall not be removed into a corner, but your eyes shall see your teachers…’ I’m sensing, that although your life’s experience is of adversity and affliction, yet the Lord will give you some teachers and leaders who will have a clear understanding of the future and who will lead you – but, be careful! When I look back on my life and my 70 years of ministry, it is very clear to me that, in order to come to where I am today, the Lord had to take me through adversity. I would not be where I am, seeing the power of the evangelism and the phenomenal miracles unless I had had cancer! Without that cancer, I would not be in this ministry. Oh yes, I’ve had adversity! I had cancer twice! Major! Throat cancer in 1964, and lung cancer in 2002. And in 1972, I was thrown into a communist prison! Those things in my life were the ‘bread of adversity’ and the ‘water of affliction’. Yet through it all, every time, God brought me into a powerful new experience! When you are a child of God, when you are walking in the Will and knowledge of God, many things which happen in your life – which may be painful now – are like an instruction, a teaching, to prepare you for the future! The more lockdown continued in 2020 and the more we had to postpone the major evangelism we had planned, the more God began to turn me in a different and new direction. My old ministry was so much to unbelievers, great campaigns, large gatherings. We saw revival come as a result in places like Hungary, Bulgaria, Ukraine, Russia – and I’m still anticipating more – we’re going to see more of that revival in the future, in places like Central Asia, as we come back out of lockdowns into freedom. But, because of the adversity in 2020, God has turned my whole thinking in a different direction!

tell you something – it is to enable me to get up and act in the knowledge of what God is about to do! Some of you who follow my ministry know the prophecy of Hudson Taylor. Interestingly, he was born and grew up just 15 miles from my office. He was the great pioneer of the Inland Mission work in China. Whilst back on furlough in the UK in 1889, speaking in a church one Sunday morning, God broke into his message and stopped him, and gave him such a clear revelation of the future, that he changed his message and spoke on what God had shown him: two world wars, and revivals, and that the last great revival would begin in Russia, the Russians would bring it into Europe, and then Christ will return! Little did I realise when God first sent me into Russia that I would begin to see the end part of this prophecy fulfilled! I’ve seen and been part of that revival! And interestingly, the majority of people who work for me now are Russian or Russianspeaking from the former communist countries, and they are the ones assisting me in bringing the revival into Europe!

I’ve come more into the exposition of the Word, into the teaching. And through this, God has begun to reveal phenomenal prophetic things to me. Though let me remind you, twenty years ago, God revealed to me what we are living in now, it became a film, ‘The Rape of Europe’… When we released it, people didn’t understand, they questioned, and they were shocked by the title! But twenty years on, they ask me, “How did you know that, all those years ago?”

Significantly now, as I have opened up the Scripture during Covid-19, it’s as if God is opening up a clear picture, why God created us, what His Purpose was, and how He actually NEEDS US – YOU AND ME – NOW – in order to fulfil His Purpose! We were created by God to fulfil a Purpose! A Purpose which can only be fulfilled in and by the Church! I can suddenly see the whole future! I shall be writing more on this…

True ‘prophetic vision’ is this: when God reveals something to me, He says bluntly, “Now, get up off your feet, get out there, and do what it takes to make this happen!” God does not give me prophecy just for me to know something, or just to

But unless I had been slowed down and stopped in my tracks in 2020, and not allowed to continue with my plans for Central Asia and Eastern Europe, if I had simply carried on at the pace I was going, accelerating in evangelism more and more,

so absorbed in what I was doing – God could not have got my attention to turn me into this new direction, to see something I would never have seen… That’s what God had to do with Moses, with the burning bush. God had to attract his attention, draw him aside – to see something! So that God could speak to him! There are times in your life and mine when God has to interrupt what we’re doing… In 2020 He had to grab my attention – to turn me aside! It was this pandemic that had this effect in my life! I want to challenge you, is God at this time holding up, slowing down, even stopping some of your activity – in order that, like Moses with the burning bush, you will turn aside?! I like to say that when Moses looked at the burning bush, he only looked and saw – but didn’t walk into it! I challenge you – if God shows you a ‘burning bush’, walk into the ‘Fire’! That’s what I always want to do, I’m impetuous, because if God is in the Fire, I want to be in the Fire too, I want the Fire to consume me… The amazing thing is, the Fire did not change the bush, it didn’t consume or destroy it. And when we experience the Fire of God, it will ‘consume’ us, but in the sense that it will fill us and possess us… Because if we walk into that Fire, that Fire becomes part of us! To me, the Fire and the Power of the Holy Spirit is not something ‘out there’, it’s something that becomes part of me, I’m part of the Fire, I’m burning with the Fire, it’s ‘consuming’ me… The strange thing is, without the pandemic, I’m convinced I would not have seen or known what God is showing me now of the future! I can see where my ministry will lie! Just as the film ‘The Rape of Europe’ was so incredibly prophetic, what God is showing me now is even more far-seeing, even more prophetic

than that film, because what I am seeing, through Scripture, is from now – until the End! I’m very excited! My future is assured! When God gives prophecy to me, He’s saying, “Right. This is your job. Now get up and fulfil it. Go and do it!” This is how God has always dealt with me throughout my ministry. I know what I’m seeing is something I’m going to be part of! I know my whole future is assured, my whole path is marked out. That’s why I have to come to another verse in Isaiah 30, v21 – it has directed the whole of my ministry – because, though the Lord give you the bread of adversity and the water of affliction, ‘Your ears shall hear a word behind you saying, “This is the way, walk in it!”’ Because, when you turn to the right or to the left, you must know, ‘this is the way, walk in it’! I can hear that Voice clearly! The challenge is this: what God is revealing to me is something we have to be active in! I’m not seeing what is happening in the world as a disaster – yes, for the ungodly – but for those who know the Lord, God has a Purpose! With God, nothing happens by accident, by chance – everything happens because God knew in advance. The simplest illustration is that before sin came into the world with Adam and Eve, God had made the plan of salvation – Jesus, the Lamb of God slain from the foundation of the world! 1 Peter 1:1920, Revelation 13:8. From the very beginning, God had anticipated and known that His Creation would fail Him and need a means of redemption, a way of escape… In my own life, before I went into that communist prison in 1972, God had already prepared the exact day and the very method of my release – which God showed me in advance – my birthday!

Sure enough, I came out, on my birthday! God revealed it to me! He knew what I didn’t! It happened in my life, and it is an illustration which I can pass on to you! If God could tell me, three days after I was convicted and sentenced in the court, the exact day of my release, that’s incredible. But God foreknows! I’m not teaching you theory, but what I have experienced in my life! It was the same with my throat cancer. I fasted and prayed for three months, then went back to the doctors – and they laughed at me, “There is no God, your cancer has grown so big, we have to operate immediately!” That was the Friday, the operation was for Monday. But God had planned from the beginning that it would happen that way, so that instead of being healed by the doctors, when they looked on the Monday, I was totally healed! They said, “Somebody has cut it out with a knife and left a scar where they operated. Who did it?!” – “The God you don’t believe in, He did it!” Before I got the cancer, God knew the way I would escape! And in your life, God sees and God knows the future. I want to encourage you to seek the Lord. Recognise from Isaiah 30, that although the Lord may give you the bread of adversity and the water of affliction in your life, your ‘teachers’ will not be removed from you, but you will continue to see the way through – and your ears will hear a Voice behind you saying, “This is the way, walk in it!” All my life I’ve heard that Voice. And today I’m hearing that Voice again, knowing that it gives me the confidence to live through the adversity and the affliction. Because even in this God is saying, “This is the way, walk in it!” I pray God will give you the courage! God bless you!

In his letter to the Philippians Paul reveals something very strong about his personal character. In Chapter 3 he opens with a warning about orthodox Jewish thinking – ‘Beware of dogs, beware of evil workers, beware of the circumcision’ – but look what he is revealing! By v4 Paul proves that his whole life up till now has been as a very orthodox Jew. His religion is based on strict obedience to the Law. Born of the tribe of Benjamin, circumcised according to the Law, and from the legal side in belief, a Pharisee. He explains himself clearly, very zealous and, as a result, persecuting the Church. So as a Jew, totally fulfilled. But there is one big issue, the Jews were equally divided over the question of resurrection. Pharisees like Paul believed in the resurrection of the dead, which would be the result of strict obedience to the Law. But Sadducees – and the High Priest at this time was a Sadducee – did not believe in resurrection! So in Paul’s religious experience there was a massive division. I’m beginning to understand that, as a Christian, some of my dealings with Orthodox Jews are still today coloured by this. Ultra-Orthodox Jews reject Christ and Christians because resurrection is only by keeping the law, but other Jews, like the Sadducees of the Bible, reject Resurrection completely. The main message of these early Christians was of a risen Christ whose miracle happened – without the law! When Paul gets that blinding flash of conversion on the Damascus Road, he realises that this Jesus – whom he had rejected according to the Jewish Law – is the only one person who is proof of resurrection! Paul now knows that Resurrection is an indisputable fact, Jesus was seen alive for 40 days and appeared to many, and it is significant

that several other graves opened and the ‘bodies of the saints who slept arose and came out of the graves after His Resurrection and went into the city and appeared to many’. Matthew 27:52-53. This is something very strong from Paul, because he was never one of the twelve disciples, never one of the followers of Christ. When Stephen was martyred for his faith in Christ, Paul was there, holding the clothes of those stoning him and approving their actions, because of the laws of his religion. But for him, under his Jewish laws, until he met Jesus, there was no actual proof of resurrection. Now on that fateful road to Damascus he is faced with the one infallible evidence! He saw Jesus is the only way, the only proof – yet his religiosity had blinded his eyes. And the very One whom he had persecuted is the only living proof that when he, Paul is finally put into a grave that he, Paul would actually be resurrected! So now Paul from v7 expresses his heart: all the past which he had counted on is worthless, has no effect on his final resurrection. The only way that Paul can have any part in the coming Kingdom is if he rises from the grave – suddenly resurrection becomes the only thing of real concern to him. Salvation, baptism, are the beginning. But very important is an utter conviction that the real goal at the end of life is – RESURRECTION! Somehow amongst all the preaching ideas today I find that this is lost in Church teaching. Even for me as an evangelist, yes, I preach the forgiveness of sin, salvation… But Paul sums it up so graphically in v8, he counts ALL religiosity as loss, as dung! ALL our religion, our obedience to the Law, even simply conforming to Biblical or Christian teaching, our own righteousness – is

NOTHING! Because the whole purpose of salvation is Resurrection. As Paul says, v10, ‘That I may know Him and the Power which resurrected Him’, not selfrighteousness which is of the Law, not by our own actions, but simple righteousness which is faith in Christ v9! Yes, we must be born again – John 3:16 – yes there must be water baptism – ‘repent and be baptised’…. But the goal, v10, is to know the Power of His resurrection, the fellowship with Him in rejection, even unto death, which becomes extreme in v11, if by any means I might attain to the final RESURRECTION. So Paul challenges even you: all these religious observances, the priests, the altars, the Mass, the sign of the cross, ALL religiousness is condemned as NOTHING by one of the most religious persons in the Bible! Paul is in effect explaining that he now knows that salvation is not by obedience to religious laws, but by a personal relationship with the very One whom he had persecuted. And now Paul says in vv12-13, it’s not only KNOWING who Christ is, but knowing His POWER! And the greatest power is RESURRECTION! To us also, the evidence that Christ rose from the dead is not just an Easter remembrance, but the very reason for the Gospel we preach! The danger with our Easter celebration is that we major on the death and suffering of Christ, more than the absolute Glory of the Resurrection! My major focus is not the day He died, because we all must die, but the day He rose from the dead, which was an incredible miracle! As I study the ministry of Jesus, I find that His main message was the coming Kingdom of God on earth and our part in it. But we can only be part of the glorious future if we finally achieve RESURRECTION!

David Hathaway WHERE IS YOUR FAITH? Isaiah the prophet says in Isaiah 31:1, “Woe to those who go down to Egypt for help, and depend on horses and trust in chariots because there are many of them, and trust in horsemen because they are strong – but they do not look to the Holy One of Israel, nor seek the Lord.” It’s an accusation. Woe to those who look to the material things for help. Yes, material

Hebrews 11:1 says: ‘Faith is the SUBSTANCE of things hoped for, the EVIDENCE of things not seen.’ The reality of faith is that IT HAPPENS! Think about it! It’s remarkable. According to Scripture, the reality of your faith is that it happens! We can trust God because, unlike men, He’s not fallible. That’s why we should go to Him and trust Him, as Isaiah says! God can’t fail! Do you remember the story of Balaam, you surely remember the ass who tried to stop him? Balaam was hired to curse Israel. Though he tried three times, he couldn’t do it! Because he knew, he could not ‘curse those whom God has not cursed’, he could not “curse whom God has blessed’! Numbers 23:8&20. Because, v19, God is not a man, He cannot lie – God DOES WHAT HE SAYS! If only Christians would speak like this! This is not ‘extreme’, this runs through the whole of Scripture. It’s the difference between God and men. God is dependable, God keeps His Promises, God keeps His Word – men don’t! This is why Isaiah says, why do you trust in the material things, in human help and human power? Sooner or later they will fail. When I went by road to Israel in 1961, I didn’t take an old car, it could break down, I bought a brand new one, but I had to test it first, and one critical part failed before I even set off! Man and man-made things will fail. Computers crash, they are not infallible. Men are not infallible. They can promise you the earth, but they can’t always deliver. But God is so different! That’s why Scripture teaches us to put our trust in Him, believe what He says. If only we would take God at His Word, literally!!! We have to learn to have the confidence to believe God will DO what He SAYS! We need to believe ALL the Promises of God, not just some. Yes, we can struggle with this, but I’m challenging you, whether it is in Isaiah or in Hebrews or anywhere in the Scripture, we have to have that confidence that God CANNOT and WILL NOT and DOES NOT FAIL! Absolute confidence in the Word of God, is what the Angel of God revealed in a vision to Daniel in Chapter 11:32, “Those who KNOW their God, (put their

things can bring help, thank God, but they are not God! Our strength, our hope – is in God, not in men! The world is facing so many crises, we need to bring the spiritual issues to the fore. Christians are praying over very many issues, but the key issue is the Power and the Glory of God and our confidence and our trust in Him to answer!

trust in God), will be STRONG and DO EXPLOITS!” Our strength is not in ourselves, not in material things… That’s why Isaiah warned not to put your trust in horses or chariots, because in those days, those things were powerful! But look what God does! I’m amazed when I look back at the crossing of the Red Sea. The lesser of the two great miracles was that the waters dried up and the children of Israel crossed over. The greater miracle was when God released the waters and they destroyed the most powerful army in the world at that time! What tremendous Power God demonstrated by one simple act! Yet later, when the Israelites were in the wilderness, they complained!!! I suppose most of us would have if we had been in the wilderness for 40 years! But all the time they were complaining and wanting to go back to Egypt, there was one uncrossable barrier which prevented them – it was the Red Sea, which God had opened for them to escape from Egypt! He wasn’t going to open it again and let them go back! Our salvation is like this – God is not going to open the ‘Red Sea’ of our salvation through the Blood of Christ, to let us go back! We came out of our old life of sin into salvation through the Blood! Hebrews 10:29 says, if we try to return, we trample the Blood of Christ underfoot! That’s a very, very powerful statement! We cannot, we dare not go back! I want to remind you, that when we came to Christ, we came to Him through a phenomenal miracle. In that moment when you confessed your sin and you called upon God for forgiveness and you believed that the Blood of Jesus Christ paid the price for your sin – in that moment, you came into the Kingdom of God! You had never seen Jesus, you had never seen the Blood of Christ, but by faith you stood on the Promise of God! It was phenomenal, saving faith! Look at Hebrews 11:1, ‘Faith is SUBSTANCE.’ Although unseen, it’s FACT. If we call ourselves ‘Believers’, that’s because we BELIEVE the Word of God! In its entirety! I want to challenge you, because Paul says faith is SUBSTANCE – and EVIDENCE. When you are looking for something, you look for the EVIDENCE. Historians look for evidence, scientists look for evidence – evidence will reveal

truth, fact. FAITH reveals truth, fact! It brings the EVIDENCE of things we cannot see – but which, by faith, we hope for! The first level of faith is when something is obviously going to happen, the evidence is already in front of you, you can see it. The second level of faith is where there is no evidence, nothing to indicate that it can happen. But the third level of faith – and to me, this is REAL faith – is when all the evidence is against you, it cannot happen! When I received the Baptism of the Holy Spirit, I read where Paul says, “Seek the best gifts.” I chose faith! Because, as I thought it over, there are nine gifts of the Holy Spirit and as my father taught me, they come in groups of three. Three vocal gifts: speaking in tongues, interpretation of tongues, and prophecy. Three intellectual gifts: the word of knowledge, the word of wisdom, and the discerning of spirits. And three practical gifts: gifts of healing, the working of miracles, and faith. I wasn’t so interested in the intellectual gifts – BUT I WANTED THE PRACTICAL GIFTS! And of the three practical gifts, which did I choose? You may be surprised, I did not choose gifts of healing, or the working of miracles. I chose specifically the gift of faith. Because FAITH IS THE KEY. I have tried to live my life by faith. Faith enables me to believe that God will ALWAYS DO WHAT HE SAYS! When He says, ‘you will lay hands on the sick and they will recover’, I lay hands on the sick – because I KNOW they will recover! Sometimes I know, from the moment I begin to pray, whether or not there is faith for the sick person to be healed, and there are times when I KNOW that I KNOW that it will happen. One time in Ukraine, preaching in a football stadium, there seemed to be no faith. I had called the people to repent and they had come forward, but even so, I sensed there was no evidence of faith. So when I began to pray for the sick, I was crying out to the Holy Spirit, “I need some tangible, practical EVIDENCE that will convince the people!” Only the Holy Spirit could tell me what to do! And I said, “I want only those who have broken bones to come to the platform – broken arms, broken legs. Ten or eleven people came, and

the amazing thing was that, as I prayed for them, a miracle happened – God instantly healed every single one! Can you imagine? People with broken legs jumping off a platform, one and a half to two meters high! It was such a demonstration of the Power of God, that from there on, the people believed! Faith came! There was a time in Russia when I met some young Swiss evangelists. They saw the miracles and the authority I had in my meetings, so they asked me to join them in Switzerland to teach them. Then they took me to Lucerne where they had rented a ballroom seating 500. They had invited a very unusual group, not just agnostics and unbelievers, but spiritists who practised power through evil spirits! They told me straight, they didn’t want to listen to my preaching, they wanted to see whose ‘God’ was greatest – mine or theirs! They wanted to see miracles! I told them to bring me the most sick person in the room. They brought a young man forward. He had been hang-gliding, jumping off the mountains, but his parachute hadn’t opened, and he had crashed down to the ground. His whole body was smashed! His legs, his arms – broken! He couldn’t even speak clearly. I knew that God had to do something as EVIDENCE. I laid my hands on him and commanded in the Name of Jesus a miracle of healing. Instantly the life came back into his body, he began to speak clearly – he was totally healed! I looked around, and all those spiritists were standing on the velvet ballroom chairs to see what was happening! All 500 of them repented and gave their lives to

Christ! It took those young Swiss evangelists three months to counsel them all. Faith is EVIDENCE. Faith itself, not just the miracle, faith itself when it becomes the EVIDENCE, the SUBSTANCE of things which we are hoping for. Why so often do we Christians look first for the material answers and don’t look to the spiritual, to God?! We would rather go to something we can see and which we think we can depend on. Just as Isaiah said, “Why do you look to the number of chariots, to the men in the army?” They are not God! They are only flesh, and flesh can fail. But God CANNOT EVER, EVER FAIL YOU! I’ve proved that with cancers, I’ve proved that when I was in a communist prison, I prove that when I pray with the sick. It’s incredible, but it’s REAL. The first time I went to talk to the Holocaust survivors in Israel, I said, “O God, how can I talk to these Jews when they went through the Holocaust and their loved ones died in the furnaces? How can I tell them that You are a God of Love and Healing and Power?” But they themselves issued the challenge, “We will listen to you and we will believe you on one condition – that if your Jesus is real and alive today, He will heal the sick!” And of course, when I prayed with the sick, the miracles happened. They told me afterwards, they saw more miracles than they could have ever imagined! They even made a poster of the photos of those who perished in the Holocaust, and superimposed on them, were the photos of survivors of the Holocaust who had been miraculously healed in my

meetings! You see, GOD HIMSELF IS THE EVIDENCE!!! And Jesus is the EVIDENCE OF GOD! When the disciples said to Jesus, “Show us the Father” – He replied, “If you have seen Me, you have seen the Father. I and the Father are One!” And He added, “If you don’t believe Me, believe Me for the works”, because the miracles are the Evidence! John 14:8-11. Do you remember how, after His Resurrection, Jesus appeared to His disciples several times? One of these occasions, the disciples had been fishing – all night – and caught nothing. In the morning they saw a stranger on the shore, who called out to them, “Have you caught anything?” – “No!” – Then the stranger said, “Cast your net on the other side!” The disciples did that, and caught so many fish, their nets broke! Only then, when John, the beloved disciple said to Peter, “It is the Lord!” did Peter jump out of the boat and make for the shore! Because, suddenly, the EVIDENCE was there! Jesus is the Evidence, the Power and the Reality of God! Some years ago I went to New York, to David Wilkerson’s rehabilitation centre for drug addicts. I remember walking around, seeing those young addicts in their rooms, doing ‘cold turkey’, going through the pain and the agony of coming off the drugs. I met one who had written these words on the wall: I KNOW JESUS IS ALIVE BECAUSE I TALKED TO HIM THIS MORNING! That’s the reality of our faith!

My name is Fuhsh. I was born in 1939 in the city of Tulchin, Vinnitsa, in Ukraine. Our city was invaded at the beginning of December 1941. As I remember it was winter, no snow. Since the Romanians had joined with the fascists, we were rounded up by Romanians, there were few Germans at that time. My father was a soldier at the Front; my mother, grandmother and I stayed at home. I was only two years old and didn’t understand what was going on. They herded all us Jews into the local school and kept us locked up for two days. It was terrible. We had nothing to eat or drink. Then they took us to the

square to decide what to do with us.

My name is Leonid. I was born in Ukraine in a village called Nishivtsi in the Vinnitsa region. Now I am 83 years old. I was only 4 when the War reached Ukraine, so I don’t remember the details very well, but I know that my grandparents were believers, Orthodox Jews; they tried to keep all the commandments of the Lord. We were persecuted like every other Jewish family. In the beginning, for us small children, it was like a game, but later we realised something terrible was going on. Our village was on the border with Romania. When Romanians invaded, I remember there was a famine. Soon we were sent to the Ghetto camp in Dzhulin in the Vinnitsa region. I was there until 7 years old. I remember how the Germans took away about 50 men (they said they were going to

work), but no one ever saw them again. Later the Germans left, and the Romanians took over. The camp was designed for about 1000 people, but another 3500 Romanian Jews were brought to our Ghetto from Romania. There were 11 of us in our family and we all lived in one small room; when the Jews from Romania came, three more large families were added to us. Only three in my family survived: me, my brother, who is 2 years older than me, and our grandfather, everyone else was killed.

We were sent to a camp called ‘Dead End’. It was far away through bog, we twisted our ankles, it was very painful, I cried a lot. In the camp, about 60 of us lived together in one room. Later we were separated into the living and the dying. We were given potato husks and sometimes grains to eat. No bread. We got water from the river. People from our camp were taken to Vinnitsa to work in Hitler’s HQ. They left for work and did not return, they were shot. I was in the camp for 3 years, from December 7, 1941 to March 14, 1944 when the Red Army came. Some people tried to leave the camp before the liberation, but were shot. I survived the camp with my mother, but my grandmother died there at the age of 45. I thank God for saving my life. Today aged 81, I enjoy life, I live in Israel with my big family – children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren! I love life!

I made Aliyah to Israel in 2000. In 2006 I heard about Yeshua for the first time, and the thought that Yeshua is God and a Saviour entered my head. In 2008, I was invited to a meeting in a messianic community where I met Christ personally... Yeshua is my Saviour and my God. I am a Believer! I’m always very pleased to meet with David Hathaway’s team, and to receive blessings in the form of food cards and fellowship. Dmytriy, 16, doesn’t like to think of his past life, but he found himself in a detention centre along with many other children with similar stories to his own. The environment there was forcing him to break the law to survive in this ‘evil world’ as he called it. When he received a Bible, he was afraid to read it because the other boys would laugh at him for being ‘weak’ and ‘soft’. However, an irresistible interest in this Book and a strong desire to understand why those visitors gave it to him as a gift, compelled him to start reading. He told us, “Frankly speaking, I didn’t understand

everything at the beginning, but when I read the story of Jesus and Zacchaeus, I was greatly surprised at this rich man renouncing his fortune of his own free will. That helped me to understand there are different values in life – more precious than luxury living and wealth. After that, I began reading the Bible more and more to understand what all this is about. I am so grateful to the people who gave this book to me! It contains God’s life principles that are so different from those rules I was forced to follow before.”

Oleksandr, 13, was put in a detention centre as a result of his parents being stripped of their parental rights. Oleksandr is one of many examples in Ukraine where alcoholism or poverty (resulting in stealing and other crimes) lead to the destruction of families. “When I got here, the atmosphere forced you to fight to survive. There was only one rule – the survival of the fit-

test! I went in for sport a lot – that helped me to protect myself… But I started to be less worried about that when I received the Bible. I discovered that when Jesus received blows and mockery, He did not retaliate. Now, I am trying to live according to different rules – to protect and help those who are weaker,” said Oleksandr holding his own Bible with a smile.

Zhenya was one of the ‘Cyborg’ soldiers who heroically defended Donetsk airport in 20142015 against the prevailing enemy Separatist forces. The Separatists called the defenders ‘Cyborgs’ because their incredible power to resist day after day seemed beyond normal human limitations. Then just one day before the airport was completely destroyed, Zhenya got a minor injury and was invalided out. He

said the only thing that protected him, both humanly and spiritually, was the New Testament which he always carried with him. When Zhenya received a full Bible from us, he was very touched. “Now, I will be able to read the whole Bible! Every soldier needs God and His Word on the frontline. But, even more, he needs it when he returns home.”

THIS – IS THE

LAST GREAT David Hathaway

Long before my healing from throat cancer when I launched out to do my work in Russia, in 1961, I’d always believed in a coming endtime revival. In Joel 2:23 the prophet says, ‘Be glad you children of Zion, rejoice in the Lord your God, for He has given you the former rain moderately, and He will cause to come down for you the rain, the former rain, and the latter rain in the first month.’ Joel was speaking about the seasonal rains in Israel: the early rain that fell on the newly planted seed to bring it to germination; then, immediately before the final harvest, the rain would come again, and with the sun, swell the grain and bring it to harvest! Before Jesus ascended into Heaven, He commanded His disciples, “Wait in Jerusalem until you have been endued with Power, after that the Holy Spirit has come on you!” Acts 1:4,5,8. On the Day of Pentecost Peter said, “This is that which was spoken by the prophet Joel!” Acts 2:16-21. So, we believe that the Church began in that first great outpouring of the Holy Spirit. However, from childhood I have always believed that this was only the first part of Joel’s prophecy and that there would come a second outpouring in the latter days, before the final Harvest and the Return of Christ. We know from history that, although the Church moved in great demonstration of Power and thrived in the first few centuries, by the third century, the Church had become so much part of the State, it lost most of its Power. Yes, in different periods, the Power did come back. But, having come out of a difficult period during World War II, I’ve always believed there would still come a second, major, dramatic outpouring of the Holy Spirit. That’s why in 1950, aged 18, I was already evangelising and planting churches! So when, in 1959 evangelising in Coleraine, Northern Ireland, I heard that in 1961 there would be a World Pentecostal Conference in Jerusalem on the Day of Pentecost, I was intrigued. They expected 3000 people to come from all over the world! I had attended the World Pentecostal Conference held in London in 1953, but I sensed in my spirit that, if we could meet in Jerusalem on the Day of Pentecost (and in 1961, Israel had only been in existence as a nation in modern times for 13 years) – revival would break out! I was expecting something outstanding! I was desperate to be there! Of course, as a penniless evangelist, with a wife and two young children, I didn’t have

the money to go! But I had a huge determination, which resulted in my setting up that first-ever overland expedition from Britain to Israel through the Iron Curtain countries. I didn’t know it, but by chance I beat a team from Cambridge University who planned to be the first, by six months! I still like to be the first to do something, a pioneer. But what drove me in this instance was that I actually believed, that if I went to Jerusalem in 1961, that if I was in the Upper Room on the Day of Pentecost, this would be the literal fulfilment of Joel’s prophecy!

difficulty I have faced, God has so blessed me, He’s restored those years that the locust has eaten! And in v27 God says, “I am in the midst of Israel and you will know that I am the Lord your God, and none else, and My people shall not be ashamed…” In my lifetime we have seen how literally in Israel this has been fulfilled! God is in her midst! Today Israel is the only democracy in the Middle East, one of the most progressive and powerful nations in the world! Small, yes. But for its size, it carries more weight and has more prosperity than any other similar nation!

That’s why it was such a disappointment to me… I felt as if there were 2,999 tourists, and me, as if I were the only one seeking a real outpouring of the Holy Spirit, a real spiritual breakthrough. I didn’t see it then, but I now know, looking back over 60 years, it WAS the beginning of a spiritual move throughout the world, and the beginning of a spiritual move in my own life. It was the turning point! But I had been so disappointed…

And in v28, God says, “Afterward it shall come to pass, that I will pour our My Spirit on all flesh. Your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, your old men shall dream dreams, your young men shall see visions…” Literally this is what has happened! In my life! In Russia! It’s happened all over the world! In vv29-31 God says, “Also on the servants and handmaids in those days I will pour out My Spirit. I will show wonders in the heavens and in the earth, blood and fire and pillars of smoke. The sun shall be turned to darkness, and the moon into blood, before the great and terrible Day of the Lord come.”

In 2001, exactly 40 years after that Conference, I was back in Jerusalem, this time to evangelise – in the very same hall! Before I evangelise, I love to walk around the arena, praying, calling the people to come in, and as I was doing this, in the middle of it, I became angry with God, “Lord, why was it I came here 40 years ago, exactly, to the month, and nothing happened?! I came here at great difficulty to experience the outpouring of the Holy Spirit – and nothing happened!!” God stopped me. He showed me that, from that moment in 1961, my whole life had changed. I had travelled behind the Iron Curtain, ministered in Israel – and all the great revival that was to come into Russia and the former East European Communist Bloc, all the revival which I saw through the 1980s and 1990s – began from that point in 1961 – starting with the Bible smuggling and ministry in the Underground Churches in the 60s and 70s. So while people are talking and praying today for revival to come, since 1961 I have personally walked in an experience of revival and have never lost the Fire! It has increased! At the same time in the West, following 1961, there was the great Charismatic outpouring, bringing Pentecost into all the denominations worldwide, including to the Catholics – it was not a denominational experience, but the experience of the Church! God says in Joel 2:25, “I will restore to you the years that the locust has eaten.” God has done this throughout my life. From the time I came into the ministry in 1950, through every

This outpouring of the Spirit Joel prophesies is to come in the Latter Days, preceding the Return of Christ! I believe we can see, we should see, I am seeing, this great Last Day revival! From that small beginning in 1961! When I came away from Jerusalem, something had changed. Until then, my evangelism had been small, but after that, everything was to expand and grow, I saw great things. I was there in Hungary, in Bulgaria – under communism – when revival swept the whole nation! We’ve seen revival come in Russia, in Ukraine, in so many countries where we have ministered. God has honoured His Word… On the Day of Pentecost, the Church was born in a blaze of Fire and Power! Look what those early disciples did in the Acts of the Apostles – they went out and preached everywhere, there were miracles of healing, it’s absolutely incredible what happened! And I believe, the Fire that fell in Jerusalem in 1961, which so transformed my life, is a Fire that will not diminish, but increase and grow and go on and on until Christ comes! In those verses 28-31 which describe these things, the only question is, what is your spiritual age? Are you an ‘old man dreaming’, or a ‘young man with a vision’? I may be old in years, but come on, I’ve got the vision! Your spiritual age is determined by whether you are only dreaming or – driven by a vision!!!

REVIVAL! Right from the beginning of my life and ministry, God gave me a clear vision of the revival that would come. Later I learned that British missionary to China, Hudson Taylor, had a vision in 1889 of two world wars, and that in the last days the last great revival would begin in Russia, the Russians would bring it into Europe, and then the Lord would come back! The amazing thing is, I have seen this great revival, I’ve been part of it – and my job is to fulfil that prophetic vision! Because when God gives me a prophetic vision, with it comes the command to go out and DO IT! It was that first trip to Israel in 1961 that opened the door into those communist countries. The generation today doesn’t understand how difficult it was to obtain permissions and visas! It was almost impossible. But I was determined. On the way into Israel through Bulgaria in 1961, we were thrown into a prison camp overnight! But from 1961-1967, I was travelling to Israel through the Iron Curtain countries up to eight times a year! I saw the persecution and the suffering under communism. That’s what led me into the Bible smuggling when, in 1967, the Six Day War closed the overland route into Israel and God said, “Right, now use your travel company, your buses and your tourists to spread the Gospel right across Eastern Europe!” So after 1967, during the rest of the 60s and 70s, my ministry was no longer so much to Israel, but across the whole of the Soviet Empire!

shall come to pass that whosoever shall call upon the Name of the Lord SHALL be delivered! For in Mount Zion and in Jerusalem shall be deliverance” – that is an awakening! And it’s coming in Israel! Since 1961 in Israel there has come a great ‘Messianic movement’ – Jews turning to Christ! And in Joel 3:1-2 God says, “In that day and in that time when I shall bring again the captivity of Judah and Jerusalem, I will gather all nations and bring them down into the Valley of Jehoshaphat, and I will plead with them there for My people…” The last great battle before Christ comes is not Armageddon – that comes at the end of the Millennium – it’s here in the Valley of Jehoshaphat between the Mount of Olives and Jerusalem. Jesus comes back in that battle, and His feet stand on the Mount of Olives, and in that moment, the enemy is defeated… Look at Joel 3:12, God says, “Let the heathen be wakened and come up to the Valley of Jehoshaphat for there I will sit to judge all the heathen.” That’s where God’s Judgement begins! ‘Jehoshaphat’ means ‘judgement’,

‘decision’. Verse 13, “Put in the sickle for the harvest is ripe, come get down for the press is full, the vats overflow for their wickedness is great. Multitudes, multitudes in the Valley of Decision, for the day of the Lord is near in the Valley of Decision!” Stop waiting! I learnt all those years ago, ACT as if God has given you the Fire and Power! Back in 1961 I was so disappointed, because I had literally expected to see Fire to come down from Heaven, and it didn’t happen! Yet in my disappointment I acted in faith. What happened in those years from 1961 onwards was the result of acting out my faith – believing God would do it! And God did! Today, there are multitudes in the ‘Valley of Decision’. Even as we come out of this pandemic, some churches will DIE – and some churches will come ALIVE WITH FIRE AND POWER! I am moving into the most productive years of my life because I still have the increasing Fire! This IS the last great revival! There won’t be another! If you don’t get it now, you’ll never get it! The former rain of the Fire and the Power on the early Church went out. But the Fire that has fallen today will never go out, it will increase – until Jesus comes!

And all that prepared me for the beginning of the breakthrough in the 1980s! Looking back, sometimes I had more freedom to preach the Gospel under communism than today! I remember I was in a meeting in Yambol in Bulgaria – packed to the doors – and the Fire of the Holy Spirit fell on me again that day! I said, we’ve got to take a stadium – this was under communism!!! The communist director said, “We can’t rent you the stadium,” and then he added, “but we can give it to you for nothing!” The night before the opening in the stadium, we held an open air meeting on the steps of the communist party headquarters, and the Holy Spirit fell on 10,000 people who had gathered – and they all fell on their knees asking for forgiveness… Joel prophesies, 2:29-32, “And also on the servants and handmaids in those days I will pour out My Spirit; I will show wonders in the heavens and in the earth, blood and fire and pillars of smoke; the sun shall be turned to darkness, and the moon into blood, before the great and terrible Day of the Lord! And it

HOW GOD ANSWER David Hathaway

When I am seeking the Lord in prayer over some specific issue, I want to see His answer and the best way is in writing! Twenty years ago when I was battling over my lung cancer, God gave me the clear answer that I would be healed from the very Scriptures that I want to share with you in this article! I have an affinity with Jeremiah, because here in Jeremiah 32, whilst the King of Babylon was besieging Jerusalem, Jeremiah was shut up in a prison! I was in prison for preaching the Gospel in the communist days in 1972; Jeremiah was in prison for prophesying that God would hand Jerusalem and her king over into the hand of the King of Babylon… And whilst in prison the Word of the Lord came to Jeremiah, that his uncle’s son, Hanameel, would come and ask him to buy his field, because the ‘right of redemption’ belonged to him… Jeremiah 32:6-7. And so it happened, according to the Word of the Lord. Hanameel came to Jeremiah and said, “Buy my field, for the right of inheritance is yours and the right of redemption is yours.” 32:8. This relates so much to our salvation and the way that God dealt with His Son Jesus – Jesus had the right to redeem us. Just as Jeremiah had the right to the field but had to pay the price – seventeen shekels of silver – so the price of your redemption and mine is the Blood of Christ, His death became the atonement for our sin, He bought us, and now we are His Inheritance! But why was Jeremiah the prophet almost contradicting himself here?! He’s in prison because he’s prophesying Jerusalem will fall and the people taken into exile, into captivity… And now God is telling Jeremiah, “Buy land, here!” We understand this was prophetic, that a day would come when the Jews would return to the land, and the right of inheritance would be fulfilled – v15 – ‘for thus says the Lord of Hosts, the God of Israel, “Houses and fields and vineyards shall be possessed again in this land!”’ So when Jeremiah – still in prison, Jerusalem still under siege – delivered the evidence of the purchase, the sealed contract, he says in v17, “Ah Lord God, You have made the Heaven and the earth by Your great Power and stretched out Arm – there is NOTHING TOO HARD FOR YOU!” I love Jeremiah! He’s so bold in his statements, he con-

firms by his actions what he believes God is saying in prophecy… So many ‘prophets’ today prophesy – but where is their action? I won’t accept to be called a ‘prophet’. But over the years God has revealed many things to me in Bible prophecy – and every time when He does, He then also puts a responsibility on me to go out and DO IT! I must ACT, in order to see the fulfilment of what God has said! After my release from that communist prison in 1973, I still went back and continued to work behind the Iron Curtain – despite all the difficulties and dangers! I was condemned for it; in fact my own denomination wanted me to become a pastor again in the UK, and when I refused and said I was going back to the communist countries, they said, “You can’t!” And they excommunicated me! But if God says something, I MUST DO IT! So when God said to Jeremiah – even though the people of Israel were about to go into exile – “I want you to buy the field which is your inheritance, as the evidence that I will redeem the land of Israel” – Jeremiah does it! He delivers the contracts for safekeeping, v16, and in the very next verse, Jeremiah is saying, “Now, Lord God – You made Heaven and earth by Your great Power – and because You did that, NOTHING IS TOO HARD FOR YOU TO DO – I’m believing and signing this contract and buying this land BECAUSE I’m demonstrating that I BELIEVE YOU ARE AS GOOD AS YOUR WORD – YOU’RE GOING TO DO IT!” If only something of that spirit that was in Jeremiah would come into the Church today, into the pastors and the preachers… I have proved through my life, time and time again, GOD DOES WHAT HE SAYS! When I had the throat cancer in 1964, the night before the healing, God told me – from His Word – that I was healed! I stood in faith on that miracle, and He did it! And when I had the lung cancer in 2002/3, it was from the Book of Jeremiah that I got the absolute cer-

tainty that I would be healed. The doctors had put the cameras down my lungs, done the X-rays, run the CT scans – and had confirmed I had lung cancer and needed, either to have part of the lung removed, or have chemotherapy, or both. Yet in the midst of all that evidence, God had given me clear, written promises that I would be healed. But I want to look at Jeremiah’s example of boldness. After I came out of the prison and was back evangelising in the East, God showed me in a clear vision in 1986 that the Iron Curtain would break. But it was not enough to know that the Iron Curtain would break. What I did was set up what I called East/West Conferences – it took two years to prepare, the first was in 1988 – to declare to East and West that God would break the Iron Curtain. To demonstrate my belief, I brought hundreds, it ended up as thousands of people, through the Iron Curtain into the Conferences in West Germany – as an expression of faith in what God had shown me! And as the Iron Curtain was collapsing, I was out there with them, so much so that the BBC and ITV were calling me to appear on television to tell them what was happening! I was a witness of the fulfilment of what God had shown me in prophecy! I was a part of it as it happened! There are some in the Church who do not believe in Creation, they believe in evolution – no wonder they have no power – because Jeremiah based his faith on fact, “O Lord God, YOU made the Heaven and the earth!” We are the witnesses and the evidence of God’s Power in Creation, and Jeremiah is saying, “If You, O God, could create Heaven and earth and all that’s in them, then NOTHING is too hard for You!” My whole relationship with God is based exactly on this, I’ve got enough evidence in my life, whether it’s being miraculously healed from cancer twice, released from a communist prison, or all of the other tens of thousands of miracles I’ve seen throughout my ministry – I have enough evidence to declare with Jeremiah, “O Lord God, You have made Heaven and earth, You have performed all these other miracles that I have seen, therefore NOTHING is too hard for You!”

RED ME!

Jeremiah continues in vv18ff, “You showed lovingkindness… You are great in counsel… You set signs and wonders in the land of Egypt, and in Israel, and amongst other men, and have made a great Name for Yourself… You brought Your people Israel out of the land of Egypt with signs and wonders and a strong Hand, and with a stretched out Arm…” Jeremiah is saying that the same God who made Heaven and earth by His stretched out Arm, also delivered Israel out of Egypt by the same Power, with signs and wonders in Egypt, in Israel…

…This should be the testimony of the Church today! If the world out there rejects the truth, if there is a turning away from God in your nation – it’s because we, as the Church, are not demonstrating the Power of a Living God through the miraculous! It’s time we restored the miracles into the Church! Come on! This is how God shows His Power! By His stretched-out Arm to deliver!

Now, in Chapter 33, the Word of the Lord came to Jeremiah for the second time whilst he was shut up in prison, ‘Thus saith the Lord, the Maker – that formed Heaven and earth – to establish it, “Call unto Me and I will answer!”’ Come on! So many pray in doubt… Remember how amazed the disciples were when Jesus cursed the fig tree and it died from the root? Jesus explained to them in Mark 11:22-24, “If you will speak to this mountain (the Mount of Olives) and command it to be cast down into the sea (the Dead Sea), if you speak it and believe in your heart without doubt – what you say will be done!” It’s time today, in the 21st century that we believed God will honour His Word and do what He says!!! God hasn’t changed, but have we?

And what does Jeremiah say of Israel? Verse 22ff, “You gave this land to our fathers… they came in and possessed it… but then they didn’t obey Your Voice, nor walk in Your Law, they’ve done nothing of all that You commanded them…! Therefore You have caused this evil to come on them…” If you look at Britain today, if you look at the nations, the failure is not in the unbelievers, the failure is in the Church. When the Church turns its back on the Authority of the Word of God and allows and approves things which the Bible condemns as sin, the world will not respect the God you speak about, because neither does the Church! Israel possessed the land, but did the things God had commanded them NOT to do, that’s why evil came upon the land! When we look at the evil in our own land today, the Church must rise up, not just in condemnation of the evil, but in

That’s been the whole of my life, to demonstrate and show the Power of God… Ten or more times I have publicly commanded storms to cease, once in Amsterdam and most notably in Caesarea in Israel; uncountable times I’ve commanded miracles to happen and they have happened, the most incredible miracles… Why? It’s the same Power that was in Moses, in Elijah, when God showed His Power to the Enemy. We need God to deliver us now! But we have to stand up in faith and declare it!

I believe God to such an extent that, in those days when I was diagnosed with lung cancer, 2002/3, I did not doubt. At that time it was already 40 years since God had miraculously healed me of the throat cancer. God does not change! Well, to me, He gets MORE powerful!!! So I said to the Lord, “I’m 70, if You don’t need me anymore, if You don’t need me in Russia, I refuse to retire, let me just go Home! But if You want me to continue with my ministry, I need a miracle. I’m not going to preach a God of

Power who works miracles and heals the sick, I cannot preach with authority, if I’ve had chemo and part of my lung removed!” As I was praying and reading Jeremiah 33, God’s saying to Jeremiah, “Call unto Me and I will answer – AND SHOW YOU GREAT AND MIGHTY THINGS YOU DON’T KNOW!” Not only will God answer, but when He answers, He will show miracles, powerful things, bigger than anything we can imagine! Do you see what entered my mind?!! And in v6, God is saying, “Behold, I will bring health and healing, and I will heal them and reveal unto them the abundance of peace and truth” – the abundance of blessing! It jumped out at me, I knew God was saying that to ME!!! Health and healing! God promised me healing – I knew at once He would heal my body of lung cancer. But not only that, He would also give me health – that means, I don’t get sick! That’s why, nearly 20 years later, I’ve got more energy, more vitality now than at any time – it was part of the promise! GOD DOES WHAT HE SAYS! I know that I am going to go on in health and I am going to see the fulfilment of Jeremiah 33:3, where God says, “Call and I will answer and show you great and mighty things which you don’t know!” That’s why I cannot be sick, I cannot stop my ministry, I cannot retire, I have more Fire – BECAUSE GOD STILL HAS TO REVEAL TO ME AND SHOW ME WHAT HE MEANS – THINGS BIGGER, MORE POWERFUL THAN ANYTHING I HAVE SEEN BEFORE IN ALL MY LIFE! And I will work with the Lord and go out and fulfil what He has shown me! And TOGETHER we will see the things fulfilled that God has already spoken! Be encouraged, be strengthened, pray and go out there and DO what He says!

WE HAVE A CITY! Katie Morris

Listening to an online service, I heard something I had never ‘heard’ before. It was from Genesis 4 – and it grabbed my attention! It was: ‘And Cain built a city’! Oops! Cain had just murdered his brother Abel and been banished to a life of wandering by God! But the very first thing Cain did was – settle down and build a city!!! He named his city after his firstborn son, and here Cain ruled over all his descendants. He was the head – but the real problem was, it was not actually Cain in control, but Satan. Having deceived Adam and Eve, Satan next ‘desired to have Cain’, their firstborn – Genesis 4:7b. Even though God spoke with Cain and gave him the opportunity to resist sin and do what is right, Cain allowed sin to ‘have’ him. The seed of hatred sown in his heart by Satan, grew to such dimensions, it drove him to kill Abel – Genesis 4:7a,8. This is why Jesus called Satan a ‘murderer from the beginning’ – John 8:44 – a thief ‘come to steal, kill and destroy...’ John 10:10. Things got so bad, man’s wickedness so great, the thoughts of his heart only evil all the time – that the whole earth was corrupted and filled with man’s violence! Genesis 6:5. All because Cain’s city was built on the worst of foundations – on Satan’s lies and deception, on his desire to steal, kill and destroy what God had made. I have often wondered when and how Satan came to be in the Garden of Eden... Once when the disciples had returned from a ministry trip – Jesus had sent them out to prepare every city for His coming – they were excited, rejoicing that the devils were subject to them in Jesus’ Name! But Jesus said something quite strange, which perhaps explains the mystery of Satan’s presence here on earth: “I saw Satan fall as lightning from Heaven!” Was He not referring to long ago, when Lucifer was cast out of Heaven to the earth?! Isaiah 14:12-17, Ezekiel 28:11-19? Isaiah and Ezekiel describe Satan as a beautiful heavenly being, created by God, but who lifted him-

self up, wishing to be higher than God who made him – and for this, he was cast out of Heaven, down to earth… During World War II the British government used a tiny Scottish island as a test centre for chemical warfare, dropping bombs on penned-in sheep and scattering anthrax spores all over the island. Within 3 days, all the sheep were dead. The report of this experiment recorded that these weapons were ‘highly effective’ and could ‘paralyse and render cities inhospitable’. The island became known as ‘Anthrax Island’, and the ‘Island of Death’. It took 50 years to decontaminate. I wondered, when Satan was cast out of Heaven to the earth, did he bring his contamination with him – and is God’s Plan for Christ, together with the redeemed, to be the ‘decontaminating agent’?! Though Satan has a plan to destroy God’s Creation, God’s Plan came first! God’s Plan is from the very beginning of time, before He founded the world – 1 Peter 1:19-20; Revelation 13:8. Like a chess grandmaster, God’s Plan for the earth and for mankind foresees Satan’s plan, outwits his every move. For God declares, ‘I am God, and there is no other; I am God, and there is none like Me. I declare the end from the beginning, and from ancient times what is still to come. I say, My Purpose will stand, and my good Pleasure I will accomplish.’ Isaiah 46:10. Jesus saw it all from the beginning. He saw Satan cast out of Heaven to the earth! He saw Satan deceive Adam and Eve, steal control of the world, and bring his deadly destruction here. When Satan tempted Jesus, saying, “Do you see all the kingdoms of this world and their glory? I will give it all to You if You will bow down and worship me” – Jesus did not challenge the fact that the kingdoms of this world belong to Satan! For He Himself refers to Satan as the ‘Prince of this world’ – John 12:31, 14:30, 16:11 – albeit a

judged and defeated prince… …Because from the beginning God had in His Heart His own ideas about a City – one that He promised to Abraham, so wonderful that, all his life, Abraham was looking forward to this ‘City with Foundations, whose Architect and Builder is God’! Hebrews 11:10. All man’s best attempts, without Christ, are doomed to disappointment. Human history is the record of fallen cities, nations and empires. Thank God for godly leaders – pray for our leaders – but until Christ returns, there is no enduring city, nation or empire here. Until Christ comes again, even as Christians, we cannot succeed in building the City God has in His Heart... And in the end, the one who makes peace with Israel and brings stability to the fractious Middle East – will turn out to be Antichrist! No! We seek the City that is to come! Hebrews 11:13-16; 13:14. The truth is, those who are still alive at that time will be caught up in the air, then come back together with Christ, and with Enoch, Abraham, Moses and Elijah, with Paul and the first Apostles, with all the dead in Christ – 1 Thessalonians 4:13-17, Jude 14. And the Lord will make us rulers over cities – Luke 19:11-18 – as He first made man to rule over the earth – Genesis 1:26. Under HIS direction! The whole of Creation is groaning, waiting for this incredible revelation of the children of God! Romans 8:19-22. Christ will rule for 1000 years from the city He loves, Jerusalem. After that, the devil will be destroyed for ever – and the Holy City, the New Jerusalem, as a Bride, will come down out of Heaven... Then God will dwell with men – Revelation 20&21 – AND THERE WILL BE NO MORE CURSE! Come Lord, come!
