CALLED TO FULFIL PROPHECY
CALLED TO FUL PROPHECY David Hathaway When God met with Moses in the burning bush, He gave Moses a challenge – to lead the Children of Israel out of captivity. Out of captivity in Egypt into the Promised Land – just as He had promised Abraham many years before in Genesis 15. And YOU – YOU – have been called to lead the people of God – the nations – out of captivity! Out of sin, out of false religion, out of negative politics, out of unbelief. Everyone that you lead to Christ, you lead them out of captivity – into the Kingdom of God. So out of the Fire, and in order to fulfil the Promise He had made to Abraham, God said to Moses, “I have come down to deliver!” And today, out of the Fire, God says to you and to me, “I am come down to deliver!” God brought me to Eastern Europe under communism – to deliver! God brought me to where I am today – to deliver. Many people prophesy. But I believe God has called me – AND YOU – to fulfil Bible prophecy! To fulfil the prophecies of Joel – revival in the last days! We HAVE to fulfil that prophecy! Come on, somebody actually HAS to do it! It’s a tremendous responsibility. Moses HAD to come – to fulfil prophecy. King David HAD to come – to fulfil prophecy. Elijah HAD to come – to fulfil prophecy. Jesus HAD to come – to fulfil prophecy. And God has called YOU – to fulfil prophecy. My job is to encourage you, that through you, God will fulfil the prophecy of Joel, and pour out His Holy Spirit – and that this latter day outpouring will be more powerful now than the first, 2000 years ago! Because this new outpouring of the Holy Spirit is going to see Jesus coming back! We have been CALLED to see the fulfilment of the prophecies of Joel, the fulfilment of Pentecost! Apostle Paul says, Romans 1:16, “I’m not ashamed of the Gospel of Jesus Christ, because in that Gospel is the Power of God to deliver.” Because in Acts 1:8, Jesus said you will receive Power after the Holy Spirit is come upon you. Look what happened on, and after, the Day of Pentecost, just look at the transformation! Who jumped up on the roof and began to preach? It was Peter! The one who, only a short time before, had denied Christ! To me this is one of the miracles of the Power of God. When Jesus was on trial, a servant girl accused Peter
2
of having been with Him. Peter denied it! And yet, when that Power fell on the Day of Pentecost, of all the 120 in that Upper Room, Peter was the first to preach Christ! He held the first evangelistic crusade, 3000 found Christ and were baptised! And if that was only counting the men, if you add in the women and children, it could have been many times more! The Church was born in the Power of evangelism with the Holy Spirit! The Fire that fell that day brought the Power of God to deliver! I had to learn this in my own life. I grew up in a Christian home, but I had to make my own decision for Christ. When I was 8 years old, I came under such conviction I couldn’t sleep – because I knew that if Jesus Christ came that night, my family would go to Heaven, but I would go to hell. It was fear of hell that led an 8-year-old boy to get out of bed and cry out, “O God, save me!” Something of the evangelist was born in me that day, and I began to witness in my school. I was baptised in the Holy Spirit aged 13. After this, every week I preached the Gospel to the boys in my class and I led my teacher to Christ! The change in him was so powerful, he turned to me and said, “David, let’s stop all this arguing, let’s have Bible study and a prayer meeting in the school.” Later I learned that two of the boys in my class became preachers of the Gospel. That’s the Power of God. That’s why Jesus said, when the Holy Spirit is come, YOU will receive the Power to do these things. You can’t do this without Power! I can do nothing without Power. I can do nothing of myself. Then, immediately following the Day of Pentecost, Peter and John go up to the Temple at the hour of prayer. They see a man, crippled from birth, looking at them, wanting money. Peter said, “We have no money. But we CAN give you what we have.” This means, Peter and John HAD something to give. They had received something. They knew Jesus. The Love and the Power of God was on them – so strong – that when they reached out their hands to that crippled man and lifted him up, he leapt up and went with them into the Temple, praising God! He had become the evidence of the Power of God! A great crowd gathered round. Peter preached Christ, the forgiveness of sin and the resurrection – and 5000 believed. Acts 3.
But the religious leaders criticised Peter and John for this, threw them in prison, and brought them before the court. But the crippled man, who was completely healed, was the evidence! Peter and John said, “Don’t look on us, as if by our power, by our holiness, we made this man walk. What has happened is through the Name of Jesus, by the Authority in His Name, through faith in Him.” And to the religious leaders Peter said something very significant, “There is NO OTHER NAME under Heaven by which men can be saved.” Acts 4:12. There is NO OTHER NAME! There is no other Power. The greatest Power on earth is the Power of God. And His Power is in us. I don’t think many of us fully believe or comprehend how great God is or the extent of His limitless Power here on earth. Daniel 11:32 KJV says, ‘those who KNOW their God will be strong and do exploits’! Exploits – that means doing things other people don’t do. It means climbing mountains, calming seas, walking on water, healing the sick, raising the dead – preaching Christ – winning nations for Jesus. Those who KNOW God. So many people know about God, but they don’t know HIM, personally! All my life I have seen so much of the Power of God. One time in 1994, I was evangelising in a football stadium in the Far East of Russia, in a town called Susuman. A woman had come from the hospital, and she was totally healed. So many miracles of healing were happening everywhere I went in those early days after communism collapsed in the Soviet Union. The woman was so excited, she asked me to go to the hospital with her. My first reaction was to say no. But the Holy Spirit said, go and do it. So next morning I went to the hospital with this lady, and I went into one room only. There were three men. The first one had a broken back. I prayed over him, he got out of bed, completely healed. The second one had a broken back, I laid my hands on him, he got out of bed! The third one was blind. I put my hand on his eyes, “In the Name of Jesus, I command your eyes to open!” I gave him my interpreter’s Russian Bible and he began reading the small print. And I left the hospital. The next morning, I was supposed to fly to another city. But the Mayor of the town wouldn’t let me leave for the airport, he summoned me first to his office,
LFIL “What did you do yesterday?” I said, “I was just talking about Jesus, what’s your problem?” The Mayor looked at me, “You emptied the whole hospital!” I said, “I didn’t!” All I can think, in retrospect, looking back, is that this blind man was so excited, he must have run all over the hospital, shouting, “I was blind, now I can see! Jesus opened my eyes!” I think he must have been reading the Bible everywhere he went – and the people went home healed! That’s the Power of God. When I went back to that town a year later, I came under attack from the Orthodox priest. He said, “If you speak here, I’ll call the Cossacks, they’ll beat up anyone who comes to listen to you and they’ll drive you out of town.” What was I going to do? I went straight to the local TV station, told them what had happened, and I asked for 30 minutes to speak to the town on TV. They charged me $20 and I preached Christ. My Gospel message went out a few hours later, immediately before the national news! So the Orthodox priest went to the TV station and demanded the same, but they said, no, everybody knows your life, nobody wants to listen to you! Next day we took Lenin’s Square, set up our equipment and began to evangelise! But the Orthodox priest had sent for a shaman, a Siberian witchdoctor. He came down the street towards me, cursing me and calling a storm to come. A shaman has power, and a storm followed him down the street… He stopped right in front of me. I hate the devil. I said, “In the Name of Jesus, I break your curse and your power.” In that moment, a flash of lightning from his own storm knocked him flat to the ground. He picked himself up and ran back down the street – and the storm went back with him! I want you to understand the Power and the Authority we have in Jesus’ Name! We’re living in a very interesting, exciting time because God is fulfilling prophecy in the day in which we live, Christ is coming back, and we are part of this prophecy. In Joel 2:23-32, it says, “Be glad then, you children of Zion, and rejoice in the Lord your God. For He has given you the former rain moderately, and He will cause to come down for you the rain, the former rain and the latter rain… He will restore to you the years that the locust has eaten… And it shall come to pass afterward that I will pour out My Spirit on ALL flesh, and your sons and your
daughters shall prophesy, your old men will dream dreams and your young men will see visions… And whosever shall call on the Name of the Lord shall be delivered.” On the Day of Pentecost, Peter stood up and said, “These men are not drunk, this is the fulfilment of Joel’s prophecy.” But Joel’s prophecy was about two things: the first rain, and the last rain. In Israel, when you sow the seed, it rains, and the seed germinates. Then you have a long dry summer. But before the harvest, you have the last, the latter rain, and it swells the grain. I believe we are seeing the fulfilment of Joel’s prophecy around the world today. On the Day of Pentecost in Acts 2, we had the first outpouring of the Holy Spirit to establish the Church. There have been long periods of drought in the history of the Church, but now we are in the final harvest. The Lord is coming. Scripture is clear, God is again pouring out the Holy Spirit.
out His Holy Spirit on ALL flesh, and ALL who call on the Name of the Lord will be delivered! He has promised, He HAS to do it… I live an experimental life. I’m like a scientist, working on the atomic bomb. And I know that at the end of my research, I will see that bomb explode! You see, I’m living experimentally with God, and I want to see that EXPLOSION OF GOD’S POWER! Absolutely incredible. Something you can’t even imagine. And when that Power is released, no man can stop it – that’s what I’m waiting for! I want to see the Glory of God – down here! I’m not going to wait until I get to Heaven. I’m determined, I will see the Glory of God – here! Amen!
I’ve been in ministry for 71, almost 72 years. And I’ve been in ministry in the former Soviet Union for over 60 years, I first went in 1961. In 1964 this calling was confirmed by a miracle: I developed throat cancer – and I challenged God, “If You want me to stay in England, don’t heal me. But if You’re calling me to the Soviet Union, I need a miracle, heal my cancer.” God worked an incredible miracle – the cancer did not simply disappear, the doctors confirmed that the Hand of God had cut my cancer out – they could see a scar where He did it! I still have the mark in my throat, on my vocal cord. But what has driven me, all my life, more than anything else, is this one verse here, where God says, ‘I will pour out My Spirit on ALL flesh’, that means, anywhere and everywhere I go to evangelise! I am determined, God will TODAY pour

JESUS IS NO
BABY!!
David Hathaway Isaiah is very, very clear that the birth of Jesus was to be the fulfilment of a very significant prophecy: “Unto us a Child is born, unto us a Son is given.” But Isaiah is not just talking about a child, because he continues, “And the Government shall be upon His Shoulder, and His Name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, the Mighty God, the Everlasting Father, the Prince of Peace.” The focus of Isaiah 9:6 is not on a simple child. It is so easy for us to totally diminish this prophecy. The birth of Christ 2000 years ago was only the beginning of the fulfilment of Isaiah’s prophecy! We have to understand why the Jews find it so difficult to accept Jesus as Messiah, because they see Isaiah’s prophecy as the coming of a King, a Governor, a Ruler who will be a Wonderful Counsellor, the Government will be on His Shoulders, the Mighty God, the Everlasting Father and the Prince of Peace! So when Jesus came, was rejected and crucified, the Jews could not and cannot see Him as the fulfilment of this prophecy. But we know He is – because this prophecy will be fully fulfilled when He returns – we know He will. Think of the full implication of Scripture, that right from the beginning, that Baby we celebrate at Christmas was to become a King, He was to become the Ruler of the World, a Father as well as a Prince and a Son. All this comes through Jesus Christ. HE IS the Fulfilment of Prophecy! The greatest Prophecy of all time! I am moved when I read Mark 1:1, simply, “The beginning of the Gospel of Jesus Christ, the Son of God.” But continues in v2, “As it is written in the prophets, I send a messenger before Your Face, who will prepare Your Way before You, the voice of one crying in the wilderness, ‘Prepare the Way of the Lord.’” This is a reference to John the Baptist. There HAD to come someone
before Christ to prepare the Way… John the Baptist HAD to come to make the announcement, to make the revelation that this Child that was born IS the Messiah. John HAD to prepare the Way. But we are now looking at the Second Coming of Messiah – which is where the Orthodox Jews cannot see eye to eye with us, because they are still looking for a first coming, and we are looking for the Second Coming! Jesus, born 2000 years ago, was called by the Angel ‘Emmanuel’ – ‘God with us’! Jesus has been with us for 2000 years! It took 4000 years in time from the beginning for this Son of God to be revealed, but having been revealed – He has been seen and heard for the last 2000 years! The One who is coming in the very near future – is the One who has already come! It’s not just that Jesus came and was here 33 years. No! He’s never really left us! Jesus is alive, He lives in our hearts and, like you, I talk to Him every day. I’m not just talking to someone who came and lived and died and has gone. My wife died 7 years ago. But she spent more time with me than she did with her parents. She spent the first 20 years with her parents, but 60 years with me! So, whilst Jesus was born 2000 years ago into the family of Mary and Joseph and lived with His disciples and died – just 33 years – He has spent the rest of the time WITH US! Emmanuel, God with us. He’s not absent, He’s here – like the old song says, ‘He walks with me and He talks with me, and tells me I am His own, and the joy we share…!’ The Scripture is full of this, walking with Jesus, talking with Him, His Presence with us – He’s not remote, like someone who came and is gone, never to be seen again… Let us never lose the message, that although Christ came and had to return to His Father in order to fulfil that part of His Ministry, He also promised, “I will
never leave you, I will not forsake you.” To me, Jesus is with me all the time. I have children, grandchildren and greatgrandchildren – we remember their birthdays – but the joy is not just their birth, but that they are living with me, living near me, one of my daughters and one of my granddaughters work with me in my office. It’s an ongoing relationship. We have an ongoing relationship with Jesus. We’re not trying to get along without Him. No! We do it WITH HIM. I live with Jesus, I work with Him, I talk to Him all the time, He is the Head of my ministry, He inspires me, instructs me. HE’S WITH ME! Not as a baby at Christmas. He’s with me as Lord and Master, Ruler, King – King of kings and Lord of lords. I declare this, because this is what He is to me! A living reality. He has not left us, He is present with us all the time. That’s why He promised us the Holy Spirit, who was present with Christ in Creation and in His birth. And I say to Him, “Holy Spirit, You know Jesus better than I do, better than any of us, You were with Him and in Him!” And through the Holy Spirit I have learnt so much more about Jesus. Jesus, the Man who came, the Son of God who came – the fulfilment of Prophecy – in visible, tangible form! But I’m moved as I read Mark Chapter 1. Before Jesus could be revealed, there HAD to be sent, according to Isaiah 40:3-5, a messenger – John the Baptist. I do believe that, as Christians, WE have to take on that SAME role, to be the messengers, the forerunners of the Coming King! Just as John the Baptist HAD to prepare the Way of the Lord, so I sense that WE have to prepare the Way for His Second Coming. I sense the responsibility. I see this as essential in my ministry, not just simple evangelism, but we HAVE to fulfil the role of John the Baptist – and prepare for His Coming again. Aged nearly 90, I’m not slowing down, I’m still working, incredibly busy, God is working, and I’m going to continue – 2022 is going to be the busiest year of my life!

NOTHING HAS David Hathaway
We’re living in a very interesting time, and I feel led to go back to the Gospels and to the Acts of the Apostles – again and again. As an evangelist myself, I read and reread the Gospels to see what Jesus said and did, and I read and reread the Acts of the Apostles, because what we are doing today is based on what Christ and the early Church said and did.
troubled the authorities was that the teaching of the Apostles was contrary to the decrees and laws of Caesar, and they were preaching Jesus as a King – above Caesar. We’ve got to get back to the foundational teaching! We should be preaching another Kingdom and another King! Our preaching should be of the coming Kingdom of Christ!
I don’t see any difference between what was going on 2000 years ago and what is happening today. We are dealing with the same issues Christ came to deal with, and that the early Church had to deal with, in the same sinful, unbelieving – and apostate world. Jesus did not come to accommodate God’s message to the world He was born into. Nor should we.
The whole emphasis in the Acts of the Apostles was in anticipation of Christ’s return. In the account of Ananias and Sapphira in Acts 5, we see that people were selling houses and lands, I sense in anticipation of His early return! But we have lost this sense of urgency, and lost the sense that we are ‘not of this world’. We live as if we are of this world – but we are not! We’ve been born into a new reality, a heavenly sphere, we’re the children of God, our King is Jesus. And this is what troubled the unbelieving Jews and Greeks in Thessalonica, so that they ‘set the city in an uproar’ and accused the Christians of ‘turning the world upside down’. The disturbance in the city was so great, the disciples in Thessalonica had to send Paul and Silas away secretly by night!
In Acts 16 we find Paul is with Silas in Philippi, cast into prison, but released by a phenomenal miracle. They then, in Acts 17, continue their missionary journey and come to Thessalonica, where Paul, as his custom was in every city, begins discussing and debating with the Jews in the synagogue. He’s preaching Christ, who suffered, died – and rose from the dead. The whole teaching of the New Testament is centred on the Resurrection! I don’t sense that so much preaching today centres around Resurrection. In Thessalonica, some of the Jews converted, and a great number of Greeks. But those who were opposed caused a great disturbance and uproar in the whole city, seeking to take the Believers before the rulers, complaining that the teaching of the Apostles had turned ‘the world upside down’! Acts 17:6. Would to God our preaching was so powerful today that we could be accused of turning the world upside down! It’s needed at this present time. The accusation against Paul and the believers – and we are having to face this in the Church today – was that these evangelists ‘do everything contrary to the decrees of Caesar’, saying that there was ‘another King – Jesus’! Acts 17:7. What
6
The threatenings against Paul followed him to the next place, so that by v15, he ends up in Athens. From there Paul sends a commandment that Timothy and Silas urgently come and help him. While waiting for them, his spirit was stirred within him when he saw that the whole city was given to idolatry. In Thessalonica the clash had been over Caesar. Here in Athens the clash was not with Rome, but with the Greek culture, the whole city given over to the worship of pagan gods. As Paul continued disputing in the synagogue and in the market daily, Acts 17:17 ff, certain philosophers said, “What will this babbler say? What is this new doctrine?” And some said, “He seems to be a setter forth of strange gods” – because Paul preached Jesus and the Resurrection! The more I think about this, the more I realise that when we preach Jesus, we are even today preaching something
‘strange’, unusual – yet this is the reality of the Gospel of Jesus. We have to go contrary to what our governments say about same-sex marriage, gender change and all these things – I don’t want to go into detail – you know what I am talking about. My mission field is Ukraine, Central Asia, Poland, Israel, but as I consider the situation in the whole world, I sense that we are returning into a similar age, a similar situation to the one the early Church faced, here, in Acts 17. Today if we preach from the Bible in Britain, it is against the law if we preach Scripture that might offend people. People have been arrested and taken to court for this. The Truth of the Gospel is now legally an offence! This limitation of free speech doesn’t affect only the Church; in our universities they ‘deplatform’ anyone, if what they are saying might offend the students! And with Islam, if you are thought to have offended Allah and his prophet, there is no debate, you can lose your job. This happened this last year in a local school near my office – the teacher was teaching from the curriculum – but the local Moslem community was offended and rose up in protest – the teacher had to go into hiding with his family. In the extremity, you can be executed. In France in 2020, for the same ‘offence’, teacher Samuel Paty was beheaded outside his school. He had been teaching a lesson on free speech, discussing the massacre in 2015 in the offices of the satirical journal, Charlie Hebdo, which had published a cartoon of Mohammed! Political correctness– enforced as law – has become so dangerous, if you don’t accept it, you can lose your job, go to prison, or God forbid, be killed by extremists. That’s what they did to Paul, they put him in prison, they drove him out of cities… and many early Christians were martyred for their faith. So when Paul preached Jesus and the Resurrection, it was regarded as strange… With both Jews and Greeks, the Resurrection was a contentious issue! Are we today as Christians certain and positive in our
CHANGED?
own minds of the Resurrection, the fact that we are literally going to be bodily resurrected from the dead and reunited with Christ?! It disturbs me to watch films where they show a funeral service: an unbeliever, a sinner, is being laid to rest, and to comfort the people, the priest recites the words, ‘…in sure and certain hope of the Resurrection…’ Oh yes, we are all going to be resurrected, but those who don’t know Christ will be resurrected to damnation. So the philosophers take Paul to the Areopagus saying, “We want to know what this new doctrine is that you are speaking of, because you are bringing strange things to us.” The Areopagus, (Mars Hill), was a place of debate where the governing council of Athens decided on all disputed matters, and v21 tells us that the Athenians and visitors to the city loved to spend their time in telling or hearing different new things. So Paul stood ‘in the midst of Mars Hill’ and said, “You men of Athens, I see that in all things you are too superstitious.” Three years ago I went to Athens for a time of prayer. I hadn’t been there since my frequent visits many years ago when I had a tour company and was Bible smuggling. Now I was staying close to the centre, close to where Paul stood preaching from Mars Hill, looking up at the Acropolis, a rocky outcrop above the city where they had built the Parthenon and many other prominent temples. And it was looking up at these temples on the Acropolis, standing in the midst of Mars Hill, that Paul said, vv23ff, “As I passed by and saw your devotions, I saw an altar TO THE UNKNOWN GOD – I want to declare HIM to you.” On the Acropolis they had altars to ‘99 gods’ – gods of war, of fertility, you name it, they had a god for it – they were so superstitious, they had built an altar dedicated to the ‘Unknown God’ – for fear of offending whoever he might be! We still have the same close link between religion and superstition. In the Orthodox and Catholic Churches, if people are
afraid, they cross themselves. In fact, where our Bible says ‘repent and be baptised’, in the Russian Bible it’s written, ‘repent and cross yourself’ –this is the word they use for baptism, though the original Greek word is clear, this is full immersion in water! There is so much superstition attached to religion, because to so many people the Truth is unknown. We NEED to KNOW the Truth! That’s why Paul says here, “I found this altar TO THE UNKNOWN GOD – whom you worship in ignorance. I want to declare this God to you! God who made the world, is the Lord of Heaven and earth – He doesn’t dwell in temples made with hands, nor is He worshipped with men’s hands, seeing that He gives life and breath to all things, and has made of one blood all nations and men to dwell on the face of the earth, and has determined the times and the bounds of their habitation.” In other words, there is only ONE true God!
young men, coming out of drugs, cold turkey, had written on the wall, “I know Jesus is alive because I talked to Him this morning.” That’s the reality. He’s never far from each one of us! We’ve got to get away from the symbolism and ceremonial and come back to the reality that Jesus rose from the dead, and we who believe in Him, have died to self, we’re born again in Him – and we will rise with Him! Do you understand the importance of Resurrection? Paul continues in vv28ff, in Him (Christ), we live and move and have our being… We are His offspring. And since we are God’s offspring (His children), we ought not to think that God is like gold, silver or stone carved by man… In the Church there is too much emphasis on images and symbols... God is not ‘made by man’. In times past, v30, God overlooked, turned a blind eye to such ignorance, but now He commands all men everywhere to repent, because, v31, He has appointed a day in which He will judge the world.
I’m concerned. The Moslems worship ‘Allah’. Because this word means ‘God’ to them, unfortunately too many people today believe Allah is the same as our God. No! Allah is the moon god. We have the cross as our symbol because Jesus died on a cross… But the symbol of Islam is the symbol of the moon god – the crescent moon! There is ONLY ONE True God! He is the Lord God who made Heaven and earth and gives life to all things.
The challenge today is to preach a real repentance. If there is no repentance, you don’t have Christ. You have to repent, be converted, changed, you have to die to the old, because we are all born into a world of sin, – that’s why the Bible commands baptism by full immersion – so symbolically, you die, you are buried in Christ, then resurrected and born again into the Kingdom of God!
Paul says, God has made all men of one blood and determined the times and bounds of their habitation – why? That we might seek the Lord, perhaps reach out for Him and might find Him, because He’s never far from each one of us! Verses 26-27. Paul is saying, God is here, you don’t need these statues, you don’t need to light candles, you don’t need to wear crosses, you don’t need the symbolism and the ceremonies – we need the reality of Jesus who is alive and dwells with us.
We worship a God who is alive, whom we can contact – I talk to Him every day, all the time, because He’s my Friend – I walk with Him, I talk with Him. There’s an old song which goes like this: ‘I come to the garden alone, while the dew is still on the roses, and the Voice I hear, falling on my ear, the Son of God discloses. And He walks with me, and He talks with me, and He tells me I am His own. And the joy we share as we tarry there, none other has ever known!’
Jesus lives in me! I will never forget, many years ago, going to David Wilkerson’s rehab centre in New York. One of those
Let’s get back to the reality of what Paul knew – and the message he preached! God bless you!

STEP INTO THE UNKNOWN – WITH CONFIDENCE Last year with Covid and all the other problems was a very difficult year, but I want us to have a confidence and a hope for this new year. I want to share this word with you from Hebrews 10:35, “Cast not away your confidence which has great recompense of reward.” In 2022 we are entering an unknown. I often quote at the start of a new year the Christmas message spoken by King George VI to the nation at the beginning of the last war. At the suggestion of the then Princess Elizabeth, he quoted Minnie Louise Haskins, ‘I said to the man who stood at the gate of the year: “Give me a light that I may tread safely into the unknown.” And he replied: “Go out into the darkness and put your hand into the Hand of God. That shall be to you better than a light, and safer than a known way.”’ If the King could say that, facing the darkest days of the War, I want to say to you, put you hand into the Hand of God, because that will be better than any light and safer than any known way! Let us hold fast the profession of our faith without wavering, as Hebrews 10:23 says, because God is faithful who promised! Our faith is based on the faithfulness of God. To us, the future is ‘unknown’ – but God is in control. He is! God has foreseen the end from the beginning! When He created the world, He saw the end. Nothing takes Him by surprise. Politicians are often wavering and changing, uncertain. But God is different, consistent, and faithful to His Promises. He always does what He says, that’s why Hebrews 10:35 says, cast not away your confidence in Him! But, you do need patience, as v36 says, so that, after you have done the Will of God, you may receive the Promise! You see, we’re living a life ‘in faith’, according to the Promises of God, by which we will end up in the Kingdom! Going into 2022 two issues are causing fear. First, fear of Covid is being overshadowed by an even greater fear of climate change. Climate change is a fact. If we look at the history of the world, we see far greater climate

changes in past history, than today. Scientists believe that much of our present earth, its form and shape, mountains and valleys, were formed both by an ice age and a very warm age – with extreme temperature changes. In our present time period we’re dealing with a relatively small change in temperature, trying to limit it to 1.5 degrees. I’m not arguing with this. But God, who created the world, is in control, and He’s preparing our earth for the time in the very near future when Christ returns and rules the world for 1000 years with peace and plenty. Christians! Don’t be afraid or alarmed! The Bible tells us that God is in control of climate and change, and He knows exactly what He wants and when. For the first 1000 years before the Flood, there was no rain. That’s why, when God commanded Noah to build an ark because of the coming flood, people laughed at him – they had never seen rain! The earth was watered with the dew. That was enough for plentiful harvests! But after the Flood, the whole climate changed. So even in Bible times, we have seen the most remarkable climate change! We should not be afraid of what is happening. God is in control of the world, of the times and the seasons, promising that ‘seed-time and harvest will not fail!’ A second emerging fear is the fear of a future collision with some giant comet that could annihilate all life on earth. There’s a theory that the dinosaurs were wiped out by such a collision. In November, NASA sent up a ‘suicide’ spacecraft to smash into an asteroid as a test run, to see if they can dislodge it from its current trajectory. Yes, we do know that meteorites do often land, famously one in Siberia in 2013, even one in the UK in 2021. But billions of pounds are being spent by our government and other governments in order to be able to change the trajectory of some future asteroid, so huge, it might destroy the planet! Nothing is going to destroy this planet, certainly not for the next 1000 years, because Jesus is coming, and when He
comes, He rules here for 1000 years. During which time, neither climate change nor asteroids will destroy the earth. Christian! Stop worrying about these things! The Bible tells us that everything is under God’s complete control! Hebrews 10:36-37 says, yes, you have need of patience, so that when you have done the Will of God, you will receive the Promise – that is the Kingdom – for yet a little while He that shall come SHALL come! The King who’s coming WILL come! And will NOT delay! The time of the return of Christ is already predetermined! So I refuse to spend my time worrying about climate change, or the government wasting its money to deter asteroids that might destroy the world – this cannot possibly happen until the end of that 1000 years… I’m trying to reassure you. Covid and climate change have brought a sense of fear. Please understand that fear is one of the greatest weapons of control. Look at Goliath in the Bible. He struck fear into the armies of Israel! They saw this enormous giant; the weight of his armour, his spear, his shield is recorded! Why didn’t the Israelites fight him? What stopped them? They were paralysed with fear! Only the little shepherd boy David with his homemade sling and five stones dared to go out in the Name of the Lord! Christian! Don’t let fear destroy or paralyse your life. Don’t cast away your confidence. Confidence is trust. Confidence is the knowledge that God will do what He said. I want you to move through 2022 with confidence that God is in control. In April when I celebrate my 90th birthday, I’m going to be celebrating the best year of my life with the greatest Power of the Holy Spirit, seeing the biggest miracles, the biggest steps forward in evangelism – I am confident! What more can You give us, O God, than a Hand and a Light to take us into the unknown?! We commit ourselves into Your Hand and into the safety of Your Light, Your Blessing and Your Control. Amen.

GOD’S PURPOSE David Hathaway
I’m always reading about Moses because I am interested in the way God deals with him. He was anointed and appointed from birth. Look at his survival from the bulrushes and the way that he was adopted by Pharaoh’s daughter, and the way that Moses’ sister persuaded her to use Moses’ own mother to bring him up! We know the story. And I’m always intrigued by Deuteronomy 4, where Moses is reminding the people of Israel of what he calls ‘the greatest miracle on the face of the earth since time began’ – the crossing of the Red Sea. He’s adamant, no greater miracle had ever been seen anywhere in the world from the beginning of time until then. But I’ve been looking at Joshua, the successor to Moses. I’m very moved by Joshua Chapter 1, where God is speaking to Joshua after the death of Moses, saying, “Now therefore, go over this Jordan with the people and enter the Land I have promised you, as I said to Moses… Be strong and of good courage. Do not be afraid. No man will be able to stand against you all the days of your life. As I was with Moses, so I will be with you. I will not fail you or forsake you!” I take a lot of courage from this. Despite all the difficulties in life, and even though we make mistakes – I am very conscious of mistakes that I have made – yet God has always been with me and has never failed me. The whole purpose of Moses’ life had been to bring the children of Israel out of slavery in Egypt by a series of miracles, the greatest of which ever seen until that time was the crossing of the Red Sea. Now we come to Joshua. The very first thing he has to do is take the people of Israel from the wilderness, across Jordan and conquer the Promised Land! God promises to be with him as He was with Moses. Joshua was marked out 40 years earlier as one of only two spies who had given a favourable report when Moses sent twelve spies into the Land to examine it. Ten of them had said, “Yes, it’s everything God promised, but we can’t take it because of the giants, the walled cities, the powerful armies. We’re not able.” And they discouraged the people. But Joshua and Caleb had said, “Let us go up at once and possess the Land. If God is with us, of course we can take it.” Now God is giving Joshua the task of fulfilling those words he spoke 40 years before. So Joshua sends two men into the Land, to Jericho, to spy it out. Joshua 2. Unfortunately their presence was discovered, but the prostitute Rahab hid them in her house, and sent them away safely. To the spies she said, “I know that the Lord has given you the Land, and that your terror has fallen upon us, and all the inhabitants of the Land faint because of you. For we have heard how the Lord dried up the water of the Red Sea for you when you came out of Egypt… And our
10
FOR OUR LIVES! hearts melted because of you. For the Lord your God is God in Heaven above and in earth beneath.” For this declaration, Rahab received a promise that she and her family would be delivered when the Children of Israel came to take the city.
Jericho that was the problem. But how do you get two million people, with all their sheep and cattle, and their little children, across this fast-flowing river? But God worked the same miracle as He did for Moses and held up the water so that they crossed over on dry land!
But suddenly I’m seeing things in a new context. I’ve always been impressed by the crossing of the Red Sea, and by the walls of Jericho falling down. What I hadn’t put into context is that the people of Jericho were about to see the people of Israel crossing the Jordan! In Joshua 3, Joshua says to the people, “Sanctify yourselves, because tomorrow God will do wonders among you.” And to the priests he said, “Take up the Ark of the Covenant and pass over.” They took up the Ark and went ahead. And the Lord said to Joshua, “This day I will begin to magnify you in the sight of all Israel, that they may know that as I was with Moses, so I will be with you.” The greatest miracle with Moses was the crossing of the Red Sea, now Joshua, in v10, is prophesying another miracle saying, “Hereby you will know that the Lord God is among you and He will not fail to drive out before you all the inhabitants of the Land, behold the Ark of the Covenant of the Lord is passing over before you into Jordan.”
So great was the miracle, Joshua commands twelve men, one from each tribe, to take a stone out of the river bed, and place them on the other side as a memorial; in the future, when their children asked, what are these stones, they were to say, they are a reminder that God was with us, that He opened the waters of the Jordan as He did the Red Sea, and we crossed over on dry land – so that all the people of the earth might know the Hand of the Lord, that He is mighty, and so that you would fear Him forever. Joshua 4.
As the feet of the priests carrying the Ark dipped into the water (for the Jordan overflows its banks all the time of harvest), the waters stood up in a heap… Believe me, the river Jordan was much fuller in those times than it is now, and the Dead Sea into which Jordan flows was much higher then. These days, fresh water is being siphoned out of the Jordan to supply the needs of the dry Middle East countries, so that both the river and the Sea are drying up. In Biblical times the Jordan was much bigger, and in the time of harvest, was in flood. This was not just a matter of coming to a small trickling river and crossing over, it’s a fast-flowing tide.
Those 12 stones were a powerful evidence of the Lord God to Israel, but Joshua 5 tells us that when all the kings and people of Canaan heard that the Lord had dried up the waters of Jordan so that the children of Israel could pass over, ‘their hearts melted and they had no spirit in them anymore’! It wasn’t a handful of people crossing over in a matter of an hour, there were 40,000 fighting men, let alone the women and children, the elderly, all their cattle and all their possessions. Perhaps it took more than a day? How long? But that miracle was so great, the hearts of the inhabitants of the land melted for fear. The miracle of crossing Jordan was as significant in the life of Joshua as the crossing of the Red Sea had been in the life of Moses.
As soon as the priests stepped into the flood, the waters stood up in a heap very far from the city, and the waters that flowed down to the Sea failed and were cut off, so that the priests stood firm on dry ground in the midst of the riverbed, and all Israel passed over towards Jericho!
Then the fall of Jericho was a phenomenal miracle. I have been there many times and seen the walls. The men of war were commanded to walk around the city six times, and on the seventh time, they were to sound the trumpet – and when the people gave a great shout, the walls fell down! And it was another miracle that Rahab and the whole of her household were saved – because she had hung a red cord as a sign in the window – the red cord speaking of the Blood of Christ by which we are saved! But what a miracle when you realise her house was actually built on the city wall! Rahab was later counted as one of the ancestors of Jesus, Matthew 1:5!
Just as with Moses the greatest miracle was the crossing of the Red Sea – (and the whole might of the Egyptian army was destroyed as the waters closed back over them) – here we have a very similar miracle, in that not just the city of Jericho, but the width of the Jordan stood between Israel and the whole Promised Land. I had always thought that it was
But what I am seeing is this: that time and time again, God has to use the miraculous to put fear into the hearts of the enemy. Many miracles that I see are an evidence to the unbeliever – as the miracles in Egypt, and the crossing of the Red Sea and the Jordan were. But not just evidence to the unbeliever, but a strength to the people of God! So often God has
to use the miraculous to put fear into the enemy – and to build our faith! When I look at the Church today, with persecution of Christians all over the world, and the way that so much of the Church is turning away from the authority of Scripture, accepting things which are against the Word of God, forbidden in Scripture, and teaching it and consenting to it – what we need today is a return to the Power of God as a demonstration and evidence. A demonstration to the believer of the Power of His Word – and to the unbeliever! Today there is no fear of God. Jesus said, when the Holy Spirit is come, HE will convict the world of sin, of righteousness and judgement. What we need today is a conviction of the Holiness and Righteousness of God. Joshua had to say to the Children of Israel, in Chapter 3:5, sanctify yourselves before the Lord works miracles! I believe we need to bring back into the Church a sense of sanctification, of consecration, in anticipation that God is going to answer and move… God has to move within the Church, because the Church has to be obedient. The Israelites had to be obedient to the commands of God. Joshua was prophesying, sanctify yourselves, because when the priests stand in the water with the Ark, the water will dry up! God will do it, but there needs to come back into us as Christians a knowledge of what God can and will do. In my ministry there are times when I have to prophesy, “This is what God can and will do...” And He does it. So before the Children of Israel could take the city of Jericho, there had to be a sanctification, and the miracle of the crossing of the Jordan which put fear into the hearts of the enemy… So much so that the people of Jericho locked up the city, closed the doors – because they were in fear, not just of Israel, but in fear of the God of Israel. I want to challenge you. We should be so strong in our faith, so strong in seeing the miraculous, that the unbeliever will sense and see and fear the Power of God. We need this conviction. It is the Holy Spirit who convicts, but today we don’t have conviction in the Church. There’s sin in the Church. We need the conviction of the righteousness and the judgement of God. We need the Holy Spirit. Until there is conviction in the Church, where can be the conviction in the world? I want you to think on this, on the Red Sea with Moses and the River Jordan with Joshua. Because God says, as I was with Moses, so I will be with you. The God of Moses and Joshua IS with you, if you consecrate yourself and stand firm on His Promise. God bless you.

David Hathaway I want to deal with a portion of Scripture that troubles many people, and it’s in Mark 9, where you have two very contrasting experiences. First, Jesus is on the Mount of Transfiguration with His three closest disciples, Peter, James and John. Moses and Elijah appear – it was an incredibly powerful experience, but as they come down the mountain, Jesus tells the disciples, “Do not tell what you have seen, until the Son of Man is risen from the dead.” And they questioned one another, what might the ‘rising from the dead’ mean? At this point in the ministry of Jesus they had no real concept that Jesus was literally going to rise from the dead and what this would mean for them.
Jesus is dealing with the father. It’s the father who has the doubt, who’s accusing Jesus, “YOUR disciples couldn’t heal my son!” Jesus answers the father, straight down the line, saying, “You belong to a faithless generation. How long am I going to be here with you? How long must I put up with this? Bring the boy to Me!”
For us in our Christian faith, Resurrection is the major issue. When we repent of our sins and come to Christ, we die to the old life, we’re born, ‘resurrected’ into a new life – and this new life WILL RISE FROM THE DEAD. Whilst the Pharisees accepted Resurrection at the end of the age, the Sadducees didn’t! So it was a great controversy surrounding the ministry of Jesus. Today, I don’t feel that in the Church we are being taught enough about what Resurrection is and what happens when we die.
To me as an evangelist, this is quite strong. We’re dealing with a clear case of unbelief in the father, who is one of the ‘faithless generation’. But the disciples also! Without Jesus being with them, they couldn’t deal with this boy, even though we know from the Gospels of Matthew and Luke that they had already been commanded to heal the sick. And it’s clear that’s what Jesus expected them to do whilst He was up on the mountain! So now Jesus has to take over. As soon as they bring the boy to Jesus, the evil spirit throws him on the ground and the boy starts foaming at the mouth. Jesus asks the father, “How long has this happened?” The father replies, “Since he was a child.” The issue here is, because the disciples couldn’t do anything, the father now doubts even Jesus, he’s questioning, desperate, “If You can do anything, have pity on us and help us…”
But there’s another issue. Jesus had left nine of His disciples at the bottom of the mountain. When He and the three closest of His disciples came back down, Mark 9:14, He saw that a great crowd had surrounded the other disciples, and the scribes – part of the religious hierarchy of the day – were questioning the disciples. What was going on? As soon as they saw Him the people came running excitedly to Jesus, and He asked the scribes, what were you questioning My disciples about? What’s wrong?
To which Jesus says – not to the disciples – but to the father, “If you can believe ALL things are possible to him that believes!” I find this a fascinating and remarkable way in which Jesus is speaking. Quite honestly, it’s a challenge to the Church. It was a challenge to the disciples. But at this point the challenge was to an unbelieving father who had seen the failure of the disciples! Yet Jesus still said to him, “If you can believe – EVERYTHING is possible!” This is incredible, tremendous. EVERYTHING! ALL things are possible to him who believes!
It was one of the crowd who answered. He said, “Master, I brought my son here. He has an evil dumb spirit who takes him, tears him and throws him into the fire and the water… I asked Your disciples to cast out this evil spirit – and they could not!”
This is a tremendous challenge to the Church! It’s not just a challenge to the boy’s father, it’s now a challenge to the disciples themselves, who are there, listening in to the conversation! I want to challenge Christians today – everyone who reads this – on this very issue: our God is a God of miracles – NOTHING is impossible with God. I’ve had to take this challenge – many times – in my own life. My ministry is not just as an evangelist, but to prove that God is a GOD OF THE IMPOSSIBLE.
So this father is coming to Jesus with questions and doubts. It’s the same today. There is doubt and questioning in the world, and in the Church. Unbelievers don’t understand, they reject what we believe, regarding Christians as something of a strange sect. Even Christians have doubts and questions… What was the response of Jesus? Jesus answers the father bluntly, “O faithless generation, how long shall I be with you, how long am I to put up with you?” I’ve always assumed that the disciples were in part the object of this challenge, but in actual fact, here they weren’t. Here
12
I’ve proved it in my own life. In 1961 I wanted to go to a World Conference to be held in Jerusalem on the Day of Pentecost – it would be the first time in 2000 years! I couldn’t go because I didn’t have the money. I couldn’t afford the air ticket. So I said, “It’s land most of the way from England to Israel. I’ll drive by car.” And I did! But in order to do this, I had to test this very issue with God that NOTHING is im-
possible. Everybody said, “You can’t do it. You can’t go behind the Iron Curtain. You’ll be robbed by bandits in Turkey, shot as spies in Syria. And when you get into Israel, it’s impossible for you to get out.” You don’t understand today what it was like in the communist countries, you don’t understand the hostility there was then in Syria and Jordan towards Israel. The British Foreign Office threw everything at me. But I stood on this, that even though I would be the first person in the world to drive all the way from England to Jerusalem and back, NOTHING WOULD BE IMPOSSIBLE WITH GOD. There’s something more in this than just ‘faith’ – the REALITY of God is that NOTHING IS IMPOSSIBLE! God is so great, so powerful – all wisdom, all might, all power, all knowledge, everything is in the Hands of God! With God, NOTHING IS IMPOSSIBLE! So what was the reaction to Jesus’ challenge? The boy’s father cried out, with tears, “Lord, I do believe – but help my unbelief!” I sense that the Church is going to have to respond in this same way. So much could happen today in the Church – if we had the faith to go out and DO IT! But people don’t understand faith. Faith is ACTION. Faith is seeing the impossible – and going out and DOING IT! You know what happened in this case, you know that the evil spirit came out, and that Jesus healed the boy. Of course, afterwards the disciples came to Him privately and said, “Why couldn’t we do this?” Jesus said, “This kind can come out by nothing, but by prayer and fasting.” So many don’t see the connection, but it has been an outstanding feature of my ministry, that faith sometimes has to have prayer and fasting to make the impossible possible. Both times I had cancer in 1964 and 2002/3 – the miracle didn’t happen quickly. Both times it took three months – of prayer and fasting. Why? For the impossible to happen! Faith comes by hearing, faith comes by acting on it, yes, but it has to be linked to prayer and fasting to build that faith. Faith doesn’t just come ‘out of thin air’… Let me take you to Mark 6, three chapters earlier. Jesus comes to His hometown. On the Sabbath day He taught in the synagogue, and many were astonished at Him, “Where does this man get these things from? What wisdom has He got whereby He works such mighty miracles? We know Him, we know who this Jesus is! Isn’t He the carpenter? Isn’t He the son of Mary? And we know His brothers and sisters. He’s just a carpenter – how does He know all this?” And because they ‘knew’ Him, they despised Him. And Jesus said,
“A prophet is not without honour except in his own country, in his own family and in his own house.” So Mark 6 reveals a very similar situation to the unbelief in Mark 9, only here, Jesus Himself could do no mighty work, save that He laid His Hands on a few sick folk and healed them, and He marvelled at their unbelief. I’m quite amazed, because in this case, it’s Jesus who could not do the mighty works – because the people in His hometown didn’t recognise who He REALLY was. They only recognised Him as being from Nazareth like them, a carpenter, whose whole family lived there. This is a challenge to me and to you, because even in the Church, even amongst godly people, God is sometimes limited in what He can do because of our unbelief. We’re too familiar with Jesus, too familiar with religion, too familiar with God – not realising who Jesus really is! We have to come back to this question, WHO JESUS REALLY IS! That He IS the Son of God, that He has ALL the Power of God and ALL the Power that God has is IN JESUS! We have to RECOGNISE this. The Church today in many cases is powerless, because we do not recognise the Power that Jesus has. It’s over-familiarity. We sing about Him, read about Him – but we still don’t understand. All my life I’ve been fighting this battle, with unbelievers but also amongst Christians, that with God, NOTHING is impossible. Whatever challenge I face, whether I’ve got cancer myself, or believing that God would work a miracle and get me out of that communist prison, break the chains and set me free, like He did with Paul and Silas – it’s the dynamic of KNOWING Jesus that releases the Power. Do you REALLY know who this Jesus is? Do you recognise what Power He has? There have been many times that I’ve had to calm storms – it’s not just the miracles of healing – but wherever we are, whatever the problem – with JESUS NOTHING IS IMPOSSIBLE! Raising the dead. RESURRECTION – it’s not impossible. Jesus was the first to rise from the dead, the firstfruits… If only I could show you the Power that God has through Jesus. At the Name of Jesus, every knee will bow, every tongue confess that He is Christ the Lord! That’s going to happen – but I’m not waiting till Jesus rules the world – I personally want to recognise Jesus for who He is, NOW! What’s missing today and makes the Church powerless, incompetent, and hinders people from following in His Footsteps is not knowing this Jesus, not knowing the Power that He has, not knowing that we can call upon that Power at any time. COME ON! Jesus said, if you believe, EVERYTHING is possible. EVERYTHING! And NOTHING IS IMPOSSIBLE!!! People grasp that something may be possible, but I want to emphasise that NOTHING IS IMPOSSIBLE! To say everything is possible is only half the truth, you have to see the other side of it, with God NOTHING IS IMPOSSIBLE! The life that I lead and the things that I do are based on this SOLID FACT that NOTHING IS IMPOSSIBLE! When I go out on Mission – as when I went to Central Asia, one of the most dangerous places in the world at the moment, just north of Afghanistan, Moslem territory – I go with the faith that nothing is impossible. I don’t go there because things are ‘possible’ – I go because my God is the God of the IMPOSSIBLE. Because the things which are IMPOSSIBLE with men – are POSSIBLE WITH GOD! Think about this! Jesus could do no mighty works in Nazareth because of their unbelief. He could do BIGGER, MIGHTIER WORKS HERE, IN OUR MIDST – if it wasn’t for our unbelief! In Nazareth they were too familiar with Him. Is there a sense of over-familiarity, even in the Church, that we don’t really get the essence of who He REALLY is? O may God open our eyes and transform our lives and ministries because of THIS REALITY – that NOTHING IS IMPOSSIBLE! Amen!

DANIEL’S INCREDIBLE WISDOM Katie Morris Our visit to Central Asia in 2021 completely altered my geographical and spiritual perspectives. Since 1979 I have prayed for David Hathaway and for his ministry behind the Iron Curtain, in what are now the former Soviet Union countries. Visiting Ukraine in 1991, just months before communism collapsed there, was intimidating for me – a sense of fear at the borders, checkpoints and armed police everywhere. Finding myself at gunpoint in those days was not uncommon. For years after the freedom came we were followed by the KGB everywhere we went. But we must have held more than 300 evangelistic crusades across the Soviet Union before the decade was out and I came to love those people, because I saw that God did! I was aware that Central Asia had also been part of the Soviet Empire, and part of the Imperial Russian Empire before that. Despite independence from Russia since the end of 1991, Russian remains throughout Central Asia a unifying international language where so many nomadic peoples live within the borders of countries to which, ethnically, they do not belong. Though Islam is on the rise in all these places, over the years David has held powerful evangelistic campaigns, notably in Kazakhstan – still the heart of the Russian space programme – the Gospel being powerfully confirmed by truly outstanding miracles of healing. But our visit to Kyrgyzstan and Uzbekistan in October last year totally eclipsed my shortterm view of history. I understood that here we were, evangelising on the territories of the ancient trade routes and world empires that are recorded in the Old Testament and prophesied about by Daniel! Countries that were reached by the Gospel from the earliest days – until conquered by Islam in the 7th and 8th centuries. We spent some days in Samarkand. It has a long history, going back to the Ancient Silk Road trade routes, and has seen a succession of conquerors, from the Persian kings,
14
to Alexander the Great, to Genghis Khan, with its own war hero, Amir Temur, 1370-1405, who seized these same vast Eastern Empires, as far as China, Egypt and the Black Sea. From Susa, Temur brought back ‘the right hand’ (so he said) of Old Testament prophet Daniel and entombed it in a vast sarcophagus here in Samarkand. Daniel’s hand or not, the imposing monument is a great tourist attraction! Another legend tells that his body was cut into parts, one part to be buried in each of the provinces over which he had ruled so wisely… In reality, what touched me is the honour in which Daniel and his wisdom are still today held in the lands over which he once governed – through the 70 years of Israel’s exile, and under five successive kings, from Nebuchadnezzar to Cyrus, king of the Medes and Persians. During this time Daniel prophesied the rise and fall of world empires up until the end of the age, the birth and death of Christ, His coming again and His eternal Kingdom – Daniel 2, Daniel 9 – and in Daniel 12:1-3, he prophesied the Resurrection of the dead when, at the end of the age, ‘many of them that sleep in the dust of the earth shall awake, some to everlasting life, and some to shame and everlasting contempt.’ It is not yet possible to calculate exactly when Christ will return because the Scripture is ‘sealed until the time of the end’. But just as Daniel had carefully calculated the ending of the 70 years of exile in Babylon according to Jeremiah’s prophecy (see Daniel 9:1-2), it seems to me that it was possible, according to the prophecy Gabriel gave to Daniel (Daniel 9:22-26), to calculate the time when the Anointed One, Christ the ruler, would come to Jerusalem… …Look at Luke 1:26-38, where the same Gabriel who had appeared to Daniel, now appeared to Mary and announced that it was she who would conceive and give birth to the Son of God; then look at the words of Zechariah, Luke 1:67-79; also at the words of Simeon, Luke 2:25-32; look at
Anna and ‘all those in Jerusalem that were looking for redemption’, Luke 2:36-38. I even wonder if the Magi came from the East because they too knew of Daniel’s prophecy (given in the East, in Babylon) and were watching for its fulfilment? It is Daniel who gave the clearest prophecy of the Resurrection of the dead at the end of the age: ‘Many of them that sleep in the dust of the earth shall awake, some to everlasting life, and some to shame and everlasting contempt.’ Jesus, however, gave the proof and demonstration that, at the end of the age, it is HE who will raise the dead! When Lazarus, the brother of Mary and Martha, fell sick, they sent for Jesus, but He did not come when called, He only came when Lazarus had died. Four days dead, he already stank and was in the process of decay, already returning to the ‘dust of the earth’. Mary and Martha were heartbroken, even though, they told Jesus, they believed that their brother would rise in the Resurrection on the last day (according to the prophet Daniel). But when Jesus cried, “Lazarus, come forth!” – Lazarus came out of the dust of the grave! The news hit Jerusalem, where the religious leaders were so angry at the growing following of Jesus, they took counsel together to put Him to death, ‘lest everyone believe in Him’. And Jesus could no more walk openly among them, John 11:45-57. Jesus made this public statement and asked this public question: “I am the Resurrection and the Life. He that believes in me, though he die, yet he shall live. Do you believe this?” There is a time coming when “the Lord will come down from Heaven with a shout… the dead in Christ will rise first, then we who are still alive will be caught up together with them – in the twinkling of an eye – and so shall we be forever with the Lord!” 1 Thess. 4:16-17, 1 Cor. 15:51-52. Do we believe this?

All religions are called ‘people of faith’, but there is a reality beyond this. All his life David has been believing for, searching for more of God’s Power, more of His Holy Spirit… pushing the boundaries of faith… because there are no limits to God’s Power! David lives an experimental life, like a scientist working on the atomic bomb… Knowing the end of his search – the greater explosion of God’s Power – which will be the final demonstration of who our God really is, how great He is and the limitless extent of His Power, here in earth! To see and demonstrate this Power, this Glory, here on earth, we need to have a faith… Beyond!
A FAITH. .. BEYO ND!
Your faith can move mountains, calm storms, stop the mouths of lions, even raise the dead! This is a ‘faith beyond’ – literally a powerful miraculous gift operating under the Power of the Holy Spirit which will literally enable the ‘greater works’ that Jesus promised.

I will be celebrating the coming years of my life with increasing Power from the Holy Spirit, seeing greater miracles and evangelism. I am confident! I’m not slowing down, time is short and the coming of the Lord is clearly imminent. I do believe that, as Christians, you and I have to be the forerunners of the Coming King! Prophecy is being fulfilled rapidly and the world situation becomes increasingly desperate. Only the Return of Messiah can save the world from Satan! So – 2022 is going to be the busiest year of my life!
