A client commissioned the design of a NetZero Ready single-family residence. Including an Accessory Dwelling Unit (ADU) allows the 1835 SF family a supplemental income and ability to downsize and age-in-place.
776 SF
Review of ADU design with local planning officials was an important threshold for the owners. A separate entrance and shared mud-room divides the two living spaces, allowing privacy and a compact layout.

Prefab leaves little room for error.

I have led various yield studies on prospective properties, vetting the feasibility of parcels by analyzing zoning, utility easements, local design guidelines and covenants to the deed. The challenges of each site are unique, and I take the topography and surrounding context as design inspiration for form and architectural expression of our proposal.

Firm: RMC Architects Location: Bellingham, CA Project Year: 2021, ongoing The vision for this project is to provide a welcoming gathering point for the community. Be it a school board meeting in the professional development center or a meeting with the superintendent, the large central atrium will create an inviting space for all to enjoy. Focus on daylight access, sustainable building systems and biophilic materials will result in a building that embodies the school district’s commitment to high quality education.

5. Nordstrom Facade Design Dev. Firm: Callison Location: San Diego, CA Goals: Design a dynamic metal panel rain screen, emulating precast concrete panels Precast concrete panels are heavy and expensive to customize. We developed a metal panel alternative that provided the visual diversity at a lower cost to the client. I developed a Revit family that allowed design modifications with ease. The model automatically updated panel layout and elevation finishes, streamlining the design process. Healthy Density in CDMX Organization: Univ. of Washington Location: Mexico City, Mexico Goals: Combat sprawl and retaining quality urban spaces The Metropolitan area of Mexico City has a population of over 20 million people, and continues to expand at an astounding rate. To densify the neighborhood and promote a pedestrian friendly environment, the design is a mixed-use program, with an internal courtyard allowing access to light and air.

Healthy Density in CDMX Organization: Univ. of Washington Location: Mexico City, Mexico Goals: Combat sprawl and retaining quality urban spaces Contextual Research: Living in Mexico City for 10 weeks gave us the opportunity to visit many housing projects with our Mexican architectural history professor. Most projects were overflowing with plant life and always created light and open spaces. This project has exterior corridors surrounding a central courtyard and large Jacaranda tree, a brilliant sight to see when in bloom.
