EDUCATION

I N N O V A T I O N , F L E X I B I L I T Y, A D A P T A B I L I T Y & D U R A B I L I T Y Today schools, academies, colleges and universities are “open for business” to a much wider audience than previously envisaged and often 7 days a week and 52 weeks of the year. With the inflated footfall and related wear and tear this generates in today’s educational facilities, architects and designers have never been so challenged. Combining years of fit-out expertise as illustrated throughout this brochure with the skilled capability within our manufacturing divisions we believe Deane & Amos operates from a unique platform to offer clients a “one stop” delivery solution.

Our 25,000 sq. ft. of traditional joinery workshop is packed with cutting edge technology and manned by craftsmen ranging from our annual intake of apprentices to age old craftsmen many of whom have been with us for more than 20 years. Whether as the principle contractor or complementary supplier Deane & Amos has the pedigree to meet the demands of the modern day education sector.

AIRPORTS T A K I N G T H E H A S S L E ’ S A W AY F R O M T H E C L I E N T With more than a 20 year track record operating at London’s international airports, Deane & Amos specialises in providing a complete service for clients from briefing to completion. Experience in the unique trading environment of airports is essential in so many ways emphasised by the formal “framework” agreement we enjoy with BAA which covers Heathrow, Stansted, Southampton, Glasgow and Edinburgh. To cope with the consistent volumes of work we manage at London airports, we benefit significantly from having our airport dedicated regional office based at Crawley. From here members of our team daily visit the airports and are ideally positioned to react and manage any eventualities that may occur.

Retailers who have or are trading at regional or international airports are very aware that the contractors they commission must have all the required passes for their personnel and where appropriate their vehicles. It is usually the case that re-fits or re-models take place in “live” or restricted trading situations. Our client list bares sound testament to our ability for “taking the hassle away from the client” and re-launching the outlet with the minimum down time.

SKILLS

HERITAGE, EXPERIENCE, SKILL & PASSION Our 25000 sq ft purpose built joinery workshop is a cathedral dedicated to the manufacture of unique architectural and bespoke wood creations. Our pride in our work emanates back to the routes of this still family owned company that employs over 160 people throughout the business. We recognise that our people are our main asset and we operate an active programme to encourage communication, involvement and career advancement within our workforce. As we invest in our people our people invest in us which is best measured by the astonishingly low turnover of staff and numbers of family members that work within the organisation.

Based on this background it should be no surprise that we have skilled craftsmen who have been a part of the family for over 20 years and are still honing their skills and expertise today. To complement the skills and passion of our people we support them with investment in modern technology including CNC, CAD and CAM equipment. This enables us to produce geometric and elliptical woodcraft which in turn presents Deane & Amos with that important competitive edge. We are rightly proud of our investors in people accreditation.

Welcome to the World of Deane & Amos

We are rightfully proud of our longstanding apprenticeship scheme where we offer 3 young people annually the opportunity to enter our excellent, practical based and college complemented programme giving the right candidates skills and qualifications for life!

SUSTAINABILITY

DID YOU KNOW THAT IN THE LAST 30 YEARS 232000 SQ MILES OF THE AMAZON RAIN FOREST HAS BEEN CLEARED. THAT EQUATES TO THE SAME SIZE AS THE LAND MASS OF GREECE! It is widely accepted that forest resources and associated lands should be managed to meet the social, ecological, cultural and spiritual needs of present and future generations. Furthermore, growing public awareness of forest destruction and degradation has led consumers to demand that their purchases of wood and other forest products will not contribute to this destruction but rather help to secure forest resources for the future. In response to these demands, certification programs of wood products have been introduced. The Deane & Amos commitment to responsible use of materials and our impact on the environment has been recognised by our winning of local environment awards. Indeed we are one of the first companies in the industry to be awarded Forestry Stewardship Council certification (FSC) for good practice in its material sourcing and control.

The FSC regularly publishes lists of endangered species of trees in three categories namely critical, endangered or vulnerable. Occasionally we may receive requests for specific woods to be used on a particular project from a designer or architect which may be on the list. On these occasions we would offer alternatives to the professionals which are always appreciated. For example if Ebony was requested we would offer Wenge or in the case of Teak the alternative could be Iroke.

Creating architectural and bespoke joinery is our skill, caring for wood is our passion
