There are bridges between the seven vials of Revelation 15-18, the seven last plagues of Revelation 15-16, and the seven trumpets of Revelation Chapters 8 and 9. This discussion will focus on Revelation Chapters 8 and 9. Few talk about the Bible’s final Book because few understand its symbolism and its time sequences. I had an epiphany about Revelation 8 and 9, and I would like to call it to Yeshua and the Last Trumpet. Undoubtedly, you are familiar with the seven trumpets of the seven angels of Revelation 8 and 9. Interestingly, Revelation 8:1 (“And when he had opened the seventh seal, there was silence in heaven about the space of half an hour) gets right down to the nitty-gritty. The reason for the six trumpets preceding the seventh trumpet is to pave the way for the coming of the King as described in Titus 2:13.
Revelation can be frightful, but why be frightened about predilections that hail the coming of our King? Instead, we should keep a watchful eye for the inevitable return of Jesus Christ. “And I saw the seven angels which stood before God, and to them were given seven trumpets.”(Revelation 8:2) “ And the seven angels which had the seven trumpets prepared themselves to sound.” (Revelation 8:6) “The first angel sounded, and there followed hail and fire mingled with blood, and they were cast upon the earth: and the third part of trees was burnt up, and all green grass was burnt up. (Revelation 8:7). The sound of the first trumpet brings hail and fire mingled with blood falling on a segment of the earth. Three things occur with the angel of the first trumpet. There is an abundance of hail that falls from the shy. The sky appears to be on fire. A third of the forest is decimated by fire. This is a meteoric shower of tiny rocks that encounter the earth’s atmosphere and ignite in the upper atmosphere before reaching the earth. This meteoric storm would shower fiery rocks upon the earth and set the forest on fire. The sounds of the trumpets are not universal; therefore, somewhere on our blue planet a storm of
2
small meteors will invade our atmosphere and create bloody havoc. The fiery pebbles will ignite forest fires in that geographic area and will destroy 33% of the forest. The forest fires will be difficult or even impossible to extinguish, and the smoke and debris will darken the sky and pollute the environment.
“And the second angel sounded, and as it were a great mountain burning with fire was cast into the sea: and the third part of the sea became blood; And the third part of the creatures which were in the sea, and had life, died; and the third part of the ships were destroyed. (Revelation 8:8-9). This prophecy suggests that a significant portion of a volcanic mountain will slide into the sea and decimates one-third of the sea animals. Such a fiery mountain must be close to a large body of water. So, this scenario could occur at one of the multiple sites that have mountain volcanoes on lakes with teeming sea life. There are many such sites including Kilauea, Cumbre Vieja, Krakatoa, Tambora, Etna, Stromboli, and Vesuvius. There are multiple locations in the world that could be the setting for such a tragedy. Any of those volcanoes could lose a significant portion of their physical integrity during an eruption resulting in a huge landslide that could lead to a powerful tsunami moving at hundreds of miles per hour. Such an eruption would destroy one-third of the ships in the sea and destroy one-third of the sea life in the lake making the lake a field of blood. Such a scenario was the first plague in Egypt, and it will not be difficult for God to re-enact the Egyptian saga to command the attention of the unbelieving world. John says that the event will occur, and recent occurrences indicate that we are on the periphery of Revelation 8: 8 and 9.

“And the third angel sounded, and there fell a great star from heaven, burning as it were a lamp, and it fell upon the third part of the rivers, and upon the fountains of waters; And the name of the star is called Wormwood: and the third part of the waters became wormwood; and many men died of the waters because they were made bitter.” (Revelation 8:10 and 11). Wormwood means a bitter aromatic taste. The sound of the angel’s third trumpet forecasts an asteroid that will strike a body of water on some part of the earth. Some have suggested that the 99942 Apophis asteroid due for a near-earth collision on Friday, April 13, 2029 is “Wormwood”. Apophis has a diameter of 1214 feet (106 feet short of ¼ mile) and a mass of about 59.5 billion pounds. It has a velocity of 28,185 miles/hour. Scientists have predicted that it has a 97% probability of not colliding with the earth. I have no reason to reject their hypothesis because why would they lie. Nevertheless, there is a 0.030 probability that Apophis could hit the earth. Such a collision would not be an extinction event, but it could cause the problems delineated in Revelation 8:10 and 11. However, there is a real possibility that it will collide with the earth in 2036. The asteroid could break up in the upper atmosphere and have its devastating effects would spread over a larger geographic region. At any rate, “ Wormwood“ ends up polluting/poisoning 1/3 of the water. This is like a scenario from one of multiple science fiction films.
“And the fourth angel sounded, and the third part of the sun was smitten, and the third part of the moon, and the third part of the stars; so as the third part of them was darkened, and the day shone not for a third part of it, and the night likewise. And I beheld, and heard an angel flying through the midst of heaven, saying with a loud voice, Woe, woe, woe, to the inhabiters of the earth because of the other voices of the trumpet of the three angels, which are
4
yet to sound!” (Revelation 8:12 and 13). The classical interpretation for this fourth trumpet judgment is that the sun loses its brightness by 33% perhaps the dimming effect could be caused by the asteroid creating a dust cloud upon its collision with the earth, thereby, reducing the sky’s brightness by 33%. The sun changes brightness every eleven years anyhow. So, God could intervene and miraculously darken the sun even more. This is in addition to any dimness that is caused by pollution expected by the trumpets of the first and second angels. The moon reflects the light; therefore, it would become one-third less bright as well. The verse indicates that onethird of the stars dim; however, this dimming effect would be caused by the incredible dust cloud produced by “Wormwood”. Depending on the location of the asteroid strike, the axis of rotation could be changed; therefore, shortening the days and lengthening the nights.
After the fourth trumpet sounds and the hail/fire mingled with blood destroys one-third of the forest; a volcanic mountain slides into the sea causing a tsunami; Wormwood (a bitter aromatic taste) poisons one-third of the water source; the sun, moon, and stars are dimmed; and the days become shorter and the nights longer, then a fifth angel flies through the heavens with “… [a] key of the bottomless pit. And he opened the bottomless pit; and there arose a smoke out of the pit, as the smoke of a great furnace; and the sun and the air were darkened because of the smoke of the pit. And there came out of the smoke locusts upon the earth: and unto them was given power, as the scorpions of the earth have power. And it was commanded them that they should not hurt the grass of the earth, neither any green thing, neither any tree; but only those men which have not the seal of God in their foreheads. And to them it was given that they should not kill them, but that they should be tormented five months: and their torment was as the torment of a scorpion when he striketh a man. And in those days shall men seek death, and shall not find it;
5
and shall desire to die, and death shall flee from them. And the shapes of the locusts were like unto horses prepared unto battle; and on their heads were as it were crowns like gold, and their faces were as the faces of men. And they had hair as the hair of women, and their teeth were as the teeth of lions. And they had breastplates, as it were breastplates of iron; and the sound of their wings was as the sound of chariots of many horses running to battle. And they had tails like unto scorpions, and there were stings in their tails: and their power was to hurt men five months. And they had a king over them, which is the angel of the bottomless pit, whose name in the Hebrew tongue is Abaddon, but in the Greek tongue hath his name Apollyon. One woe is past; and, behold, there come two woes more hereafter.” (Revelation 9:1-12). This description is very symbolic. The trumpet sound of the fifth angel brings strange creatures with stingers that don’t bring death but bring pain and anguish upon humanity, not the planet. There is some kind of short-term international conflict that brings diseases that don’t kill but bring pain and suffering. The sky gets even darker, and from the darkness, something emerges that doesn’t hurt the earth but torments humanity for five months. This is a pandemic that doesn’t take life but torments it.
We have one more woe before heaven is empty for one-half hour… “And the sixth angel sounded, and I heard a voice from the four horns of the golden altar which is before God, Saying to the sixth angel which had the trumpet, Loose the four angels which are bound in the great river Euphrates. And the four angels were loosed, which were prepared for an hour, and a day, and a month, and a year, for to slay the third part of men. And the number of the army of the horsemen were two hundred thousand thousand: and I heard the number of them. And thus I saw the horses in the vision, and them that sat on them, having
6
breastplates of fire, and of jacinth, and brimstone: and the heads of the horses were as the heads of lions; and out of their mouths issued fire and smoke and brimstone. By these three was the third part of men killed, by the fire, and by the smoke, and by the brimstone, which issued out of their mouths. For their power is in their mouth, and in their tails: for their tails were like unto serpents, and had heads, and with them they do hurt. And the rest of the men which were not killed by these plagues yet repented not of the works of their hands, that they should not worship devils, and idols of gold, and silver, and brass, and stone, and of wood: which neither can see, nor hear, nor walk: Neither repented they of their murders, nor of their sorceries, nor of their fornication, nor of their thefts. The sixth trumpet ushers in World War III where there will be a nuclear attack upon those who are not protected by the seal of God. Four fallen angels who are currently bound in the river Euphrates lead an army of 200 million soldiers into a world-wide conflict that kills one-third of mankind.
After such world-wide devastation, the seventh angel blows the trumpet of Revelation 8:2. And when he had opened the seventh seal, there was silence in heaven about the space of half an hour. A day in prophecy represents a year (Numbers 14:33,34) "And your children shall wander in the wilderness forty years, and bear your whoredoms, until your carcasses be wasted in the wilderness. After the number of the days in which you searched the land, even forty days, each day for a year, shall ye bear your iniquities, even forty years..." "A day for each year" in the account of the ten spies returning with a bad report to Moses about the Promised Land after spying it out for 40 days. (Ezekiel 4:4-6) Ezekiel is told to lie on his side 390 plus 40 days--- "a day for each year" "Lie thou also upon thy left side, and lay the iniquity of the house of Israel upon it: according to the number of the days that thou shalt lie upon it thou shalt bear
7
their iniquity. For I have laid upon thee the years of their iniquity, according to the number of the days, three hundred and ninety days: so shalt thou bear the iniquity of the house of Israel. And when thou hast accomplished them, lie again on thy right side, and thou shalt bear the iniquity of the house of Judah forty days: I have appointed thee each day for a year". (Daniel 9:24-27) Daniel's vision of the "seventy weeks” (490 days): Seventy weeks are determined upon thy people and upon thy holy city ... from the going forth of the commandment to restore and to build Jerusalem unto the Messiah the Prince shall be seven weeks, and threescore and two weeks ... And after threescore and two weeks shall Messiah be cut off, but not for himself: and the people of the prince that shall come shall destroy the city and the sanctuary; and the end thereof shall be with a flood, and unto the end of the war desolations are determined. And he shall confirm the covenant with many for one week: and in the midst of the week he shall cause the sacrifice and the oblation to cease..." If a day (24 hours) equals a prophetic year, then ½ hour would equal a week assuming that an ancient year is 360 days. Therefore, one may interpret that Heaven will be emptied of its occupants for a week. Why?
After the six angels blows six trumpets, the seventh angel will hail the coming of the king. John saw Him coming in Revelation 1:7 when he said, “Behold, he cometh with clouds; and every eye shall see him, and they also which pierced him: and all kindreds of the earth shall wail because of him. Even so, Amen.” A twentieth-century prophet, Ellen White, confirms John’s vision when she said, “We were drawn to the east, for in the eastern sky, we beheld a small black cloud half as large as a man’s hand, which we all knew was the sign of the son of man. We all in solemn silence gazed on the cloud as it drew nearer and became lighter, glorious, and still more
8
glorious, till it was a great white cloud. The bottom appeared like fire; a rainbow was over the cloud…we could behold the excellent glory and majesty of Jesus as he rode forth to conquer.”
John describes the last trumpet in Revelation 19:11-16 in the following manner: “And I saw heaven opened, and behold a white horse; and he that sat upon him was called Faithful and True, and in righteousness he doth judge and make war. His eyes were as a flame of fire, and on his head were many crowns; and he had a name written, that no man knew, but he himself. And he was clothed with a vesture dipped in blood: and his name is called The Word of God. And the armies which were in heaven followed him upon white horses, clothed in fine linen, white and clean. And out of his mouth goeth a sharp sword, that with it he should smite the nations: and he shall rule them with a rod of iron: and he treadeth the winepress of the fierceness and wrath of Almighty God. And he hath on his vesture and on his thigh a name written, King Of Kings, And Lord Of Lords.” God is a Trinity (one of three, the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit). So, is the one-third mentioned in these scriptures symbolic? Jesus Christ came to earth to be a sin offering for us. Most people in His day rejected Him. Some accepted Him. Some praised Him. Others followed Him. He paid the price for all of us. So, does the onethird imply that a significant amount of the planet suffers for crucifying one-third of the Godhead?
I may not know much, but one thing I do know and that’s: “Soon and very soon we are going to see the King Hallelujah, we're going to see the King That's right, soon and very soon we are going to see the King
9
Oh, listen now, no more cryin' there, we are going to see the King Yeah, no more cryin' there, we are going to see the King Hallelujah, we're going to see the King. Hallelujah, soon and very soon, we're going to see the King. Hallelujah, Hallelujah, Hallelujah‌
