Each and every rug received in our factory goes through a thorough preliminary inspection to determine the condition of the rug. Based on the results of the inspection we decide the specific special treatments each rug needs prior to wash and which wash process is appropriate for each rug. In addition, we take a photograph and video of each and every rug as it enters the factory. This gives us the ability to analyze the condition of the rug and what the best process is to clean it. The types of rugs we clean include silk, leather, antique, new, shag, white, tufted, needle point and tapestries. Each receives individual care and a tested cleaning process as follows. Silk Rugs must be dry cleaned because they are made out of vegetable dye. You want to make sure the texture of the silk will stay soft and shiny. In addition, it’s important the brushing of a silk rug is only in one direction so the design stays sharp and keeps the rug vibrant and shiny. Silk rugs generally are made in China, Turkey, Iran and India. Some rugs are made from artificial silk using micro fabric to look like a silk rug. For leather and animal skin rugs we perform a special dry cleaning. It’s important not to wet it because the leather will break and get damaged. We dry clean the leather in a special tumbling machine with a special powder. The
powder is filled with a solvent that makes all the dirt come out and make the leather fluffy and shiny. We use a chip of wood that scrubs the leather and makes it shiny and clean. We dust the leather and dry it. After drying it we do a special brush to make it fluffy. Antique Rugs are usually made with vegetable dye. We use low PH shampoo to make sure the color will not bleed. Low PH protects the rug in the process of cleaning. Antique rug cleaning is done by hand and with soft brushes. We don’t want to put any equipment on top of a antique rug. The idea is to use a lot of shampoo and water for rinsing. After cleaning, the drying process is fast, allowing the rug to be soft and the color vibrant. New Rugs, Chinese Rugs and Chemical Dye Rugs are washed with a high PH so colors stay deep, shiny and the carpet gets clean. For shag and white rugs, the most important part is to remove the dust from inside of the rug using a tumbling machine with no water. There is a movement in the machine and the dust goes into the dust collector. It’s important to wash with a low PH to prevent from browning. A Tufted rug is usually made in China and India. In our opinion, they are using a very bad glue. The glue makes the rug smell of burn. When the carpet gets exposed to sun or ages, the glue gets dry and becomes a white powder. In this instance, we heavily recommend removing the backing and the glue. We replace it with a new glue and backing which is green. For Tufted rugs we provide a surface wash with a steam machine, 600 PSI of injecting steam into the fabric and then vacuuming it. We then use a high PH detergent. When cleaning needle point and end stich rugs, we wash the rug with soap and water. The most important strategy is after the cleaning to block it to make it square again. We do a hand wash using a very soft brush for tapestries. We call it wash and rinse. DUSTING Dusting is the second stage in our process. 70% of cleaning a rug involves removing dust. With our state-of-theart equipment, we are able to remove 100% of the dust from the rug. As a result, the pile of the rug becomes open and fresh. We have three kind of dusting machines. 1. Tumbling 2. Beater, which beats on the back of the carpet. 3. Hand made beater. Rug Cleaning We wash the rugs on both sides with special shampoos, which we provide. After that we rinse the rug to remove all the detergent residues off the rug. Luster Wash This special wash will allow your carpet to become brighter and shinier. It’s very important for Persian Kerman rugs. Soaking Soaking is one of the most important processes a rug can undergo. By soaking the rug, we can remove dirt, pet stains and liquid stains. We soak the rug overnight and with this process we are able to remove all the odor from the rug. We then wash the rug and it becomes 100% clean. When you let the carpet soak, most of the dirt removes from the fabric. It’s an excellent way to remove urine. Brushing
We brush the nap with special grooming tools. This process is done after washing and rinsing the rug. It gets the design sharper and removes the loose wool from the rug. Drying We dry rugs in our climate controlled drying room to remove the moisture from the rug as soon as possible. It’s very important to remove the moisture from the rug. We use a humidifier heater and fan for movement of air. Drying time is approximately 6 hours. Final Inspection We at 1-800-RUG WASH maintain the highest standards.
