This gives the other person something to reply to and they're less likely to get stuck for words, the phone call equivalent of the awkward silence! 3. Always take the time to reply. People get busy and instant contact isn't always possible or even the best tactic, but a text is quick and easy to send. Your date may assume you're not interested if you don't take two minutes out of your day to reply! 4. Grammar and spelling. Not everyone is perfect at it, and texting lends itself to excessive abbreviation, but when you are getting to know someone its important to make your words clear and concise. Meaning is easily lost, so make sure it finds it's way! 5. Be polite. It may be frustrating if someone hasn't had time to reply to your texts but people do get busy. Sending messages when you're upset can sound much more harsh than they were intended and end your relationship before it begins. Remember, everything you send is in black and white, your words could come back to haunt you or your date.
