Dear Friends, For four generations, Louisville has been our home. We have grown and adapted to this ever-changing city — from the Great Flood of 1937 to Highway 65 being built where our downtown storefront was in the 60s, Louisville is what we know and cherish; even more than the city are the people who inhabit it and the surrounding areas. Kentuckiana, your business means everything to us. From humble beginnings in 1930 as a grocery store and pawn shop, to a 5,000 square foot showroom with elite brands like Rolex, David Yurman, John Hardy, and TUDOR Watch, you have been there with us every step of the way — and we cannot thank you enough. We wish you peace and happiness from our family to yours. Sincerely from the heart of Louisville, The Davis Family Hank Davis & Ashley Davis Sigman

You know that rule about only ever wearing one color of metal at the same time? Forget you ever heard it. Buttery yellow, bright white, and rosy pink golds are beautiful together, and it’s long past time we break free of the advice that says embracing metal mixtures is a faux pas. Some designers are even creating pieces that mix metals in one piece of jewelry, to glorious effect. Let your differently colored golds play together; see what beautiful combinations you can find.

he Oyster Perpetual Yacht-Master has been in the Rolex line since 1992, but the new model, the Yacht-Master 40 in 18k Everose gold, represents three firsts — it is the

first with a black dial, the first with an elastomer strap (normally Rolex watches are fitted with bracelets), and the first in 18k Everose gold. The case of the new model is 18k rose gold (Everose, as Rolex calls its proprietary alloy) with a ceramic (Cerachrom) bezel. The elastomer strap was the talk of the watch industry when it was introduced. It’s called Oysterflex and is made of a very soft, flexible elastomer with an internal cushion system that makes it extremely close fitting and comfortable. The rubber is fitted over metal blades made of a titanium and nickel alloy, so you get the strength of metal combined with the comfort of rubber.

I.Reiss Master of innovation

I. Reiss has translated its innovative ideas into novel techniques

for making exceptional jewelry. It all began in 1989 when Isaac Reiss founded the I. Reiss brand of fine jewelry in New York. Over the past 27

Cuff bracelet, handcrafted in 14k yellow gold with a matte and hammerfinish scalloped edge, enhanced with diamonds. $4,995

years, the company has become particularly well known for two distinctive signature collections: the Gallery collection and the Wire collection.

To create the Gallery collection, the brand developed a technology to create and

work with gold sheets to serve as the basis for its jewels. For example, cuffs, earrings, and pendants are cut to measure out of the sheets, and then individually hammered before being finished in a scalloped-edge and satin finish. Some are set with diamonds.

With designs that combine organic contours and trending fashion, with simplicity

and clean lines, accented with pavÊ-set diamonds, the pieces become more like wearable art than simple adornment. The Gallery collection is crafted primarily in yellow gold because that is the metal’s natural color.

In its second signature collection, the Wire collection, I. Reiss is also a pioneer.

The brand developed a technology for hollow and super-flexible wire that ultimately translates into very durable jewelry designs for everyday wear. With its cutting-edge technology, the company created a heating process that enables it to manufacture bracelets and hoop earrings from a wire that maintains its shape while it coils.

By focusing on the strength and flexibility of the Wire jewelry, I. Reiss is able to combine elegance and prestige with resilience and functionality. The Wire collection is meant to last forever and to feature classic designs that are elegant and innovative at the same time.

David Yurman’s new Chatelaine collection is a beautiful combination of simplicity and complexity. The Chatelaine collection exalts the stone. The central element of each piece is a finely cut colored gemstone that takes center stage as a solitaire gem. Each is cut in a fancy checkerboard, which places facets on the top of the gem for maximum light reflection and high color saturation. It is interpreted in a variety of gem colors, including citrine, blue topaz, amethyst, quartz, and peridot. The classic prong settings are set with diamonds, giving the piece a contemporary look and extra sparkle. This year the collection is reinvigorated with a new line of bracelets and earrings, particularly drop earrings, which play with shape and scale.

Colored gemstones are a powerful force in fine jewelry

The bold use of color in fine jewelry has now become mainstream, and it is the driving force behind a design renaissance in jewelry. From malachite and lemon quartz to the finest rubies and emeralds, jewelry designers have been finding new ways to invent jewelry with colored gemstones in every price range. The adventurous mixing of colors has never been more prominent. Although all gems are popular, there is a trend toward pastels, particularly pale pink and blue gems, such as rose quartz, chalcedony and aquamarine. The trend is

partly a reflection of the two Pantone colors of the year: rose quartz and serenity blue. But pastel gems of all hues are popular, including everything from lilac sapphire to blue moonstone. There are also plenty of opaque gems and mineral gems, such as malachite and onyx, to add color to jewelry.

he pristine white of diamonds placed in an understated, clean setting defines a diamond classic. These staple items retain their popularity due

to their versatility and elegance. Beyond engagement rings, diamond classic jewelry encompasses everything from tennis bracelets to solitaire earrings, Riviera necklaces to eternity bands. In such close proximity to each other, it is important that every matching stone is hand selected for proper color and clarity and matched seamlessly to its neighbor. Each perfectly cut diamond should present uniform fire and sparkle. Diamond classic jewelry symbolizes both clarity and purity, while effortlessly pulling together and unifying an ensemble. Open settings allow for a flood of light, setting off each facet in a fiery display of brilliance. From simple to bold, a diamond classic is the staple of every well-dressed woman.

the magnificent

jewelry trends to covet & collect

Jewelry designers have taken their cues from the fashion world this year, interpeting themes and silhouettes from the world of couture. Inspirations from classic to casual were all largely plucked from runway shows in Europe and the U.S., while lifestyle trends, such as athleisure, continue to lead many daily fashion decisions, jewelry included. Ideal

Smooth Operators: Cabochons Lululemon may be leading the athleisure clothing revolution, but cabochon cuts are leading the casual look in fine jewelry. Dome-shaped stones have long been considered less formal by jewelers who lean on the look to fashion more included, but still-juicy-incolor, rough gems into finished pieces. The sleeklooking stones pack a powerfully pretty punch that’s sure to please any collector.

Linked In Chain links are as much a staple in jewelry boxes as they are in suburban backyards, which is why the design community has taken to experimenting with them. Myriad tiny chain accents decorate wrists, dangle daintily from sculptural necklaces, and even swing softly in earrings punctuated by design elements. Next-generation link looks are here, nodding to the traditional form in contemporary ways.

Art Deco

The lovely Art Deco period was born from a marriage of craft artisans and the Machine Age, and the style became an instant classic. Design elements like geometry and curved ornaments (think fans) borrowed from architecture characterize one of the most popular eras in history, one that jewelers continually return to for inspiration.

Collar Zone The 1990s are sticking around for another year, which means statement necklaces and chokers are still on point. Not that anyone is complaining — especially when jewelry designers are turning out such hip varieties. With a short style up top and a fuller friend dropping low — and sometimes below the lobe, like a skirt — studsand-jacket combinations are a fun, modern choice for women of all ages. Dazzling yellow diamonds Natural colored diamonds are rare and therefore unique, which means jewelry containing them makes a statement about its owner

How to buy a colored diamond Three of the most important factors impacting the price of a natural color diamond are strength of color, rarity of color, and size. Strength

of

color: The color

intensity of a natural colored diamond can be graded as Fancy Light, Fancy, Fancy Intense, or Fancy Vivid — with Fancy Vivid constituting the highest grade. The stronger the intensity of a colored diamond, the higher the value will be. Rarity of color: The rarity of a colored diamond will affect its price. The more common colors, such as gray, brown, and yellow, will generally have a lower cost than rarer colors, such as pink, blue, green, purple, and orange, which occur less frequently in $3,995

nature. The rarest known and most expensive color of all is red. Size: Large colored diamonds are extremely $6,495

rare. This makes them exponentially more expensive.

hat could be more feminine and romantic than a beautiful engagement ring, signifying a unique and monumental event in one’s life? For award-winning designer Sylvie Levine, creating bridal rings is her passion. “Knowing that I have made a difference in a beloved couple’s life is the primary reason behind my passion for designing,” she muses. “And it touches my heart deeply when my customers tag ‘Sylvie Collection’ on their social media platforms, because it allows me to see the impact and joy my clients experience because of my designs.” Originally from Antwerp, Sylvie is a third-generation descendent of diamond masters. Her love for the precious stones was cultivated at a young age, so it is no surprise that she met her husband at a diamond conference. In fact, the first ring she designed was her own engagement ring, crafted jointly with her soon-to-be husband. This partnership led to the creation of the Sylvie Collection, formed in 2008 and backed by 30 years of diamond traditions built by her husband’s company, Spectrum Diamonds. Sylvie’s collections are personal and reflect her commitment to always using ethical sources, while offering endless options from vintage style to contemporary. She is proud of the thousands of settings that can be customized in any size, shape, or cut and always with platinum or 14k and 18k white, yellow, or rose gold at every price point. “Beauty should have no boundaries, and you should never have to sacrifice when choosing your diamond engagement ring,” she says. “Each ring in our collection is held to the highest standards of quality craftsmanship and detail while utilizing only conflict-free diamonds.” Every Sylvie Collection diamond engagement ring is available with a matching diamond wedding band. And the line is constantly evolving to include new inspirations and designs for heirlooms that truly celebrate femininity and romance.

s your love grows and marriage is on the horizon, engagement rings are imagined, designed, or discovered. Though the sea of rings is infinite, one will inevitably stand out above all the others and become “the one.” Here are some engagement ring fashions that have continued to resonate over time. Stacking fashion rings aren’t new, but in the bridal space it’s a trend that has gained momentum. A beautiful engagement ring begins the journey of this stacked look. When searching for an engagement ring, consider a classic solitaire in a shape you desire. Alternatively, a sparkling halo with a gorgeous pavé band is eye-catching as well as timeless. Or harken to times past with intricate filigree, beadwork, or engravings on the band that will stand out among

the throng. Should you decide that the stacked look is right for you, take care that the diamond is set in such a way that other bands that sit beneath it create a combination that is both attractive and comfortable. When selecting your wedding band, consider whether the style will work with other rings over time. You will want to add pieces which mark commemorative occasions, such as anniversaries, birthdays, the birth of your children, or just periodic celebrations of your love. Whatever you choose, your rings should be a reflection of your love and spark memories of the moments shared throughout your life. Being environmentally conscious is on the minds of many brides

and grooms today. If this describes you, you’re in luck. Today there is an array of options available to you that are stylish and beautiful while allowing you to tread lightly on Mother Earth. Recycled metals are a great way to conserve resources: gold, platinum, and palladium can all be reprocessed, and many jewelry designers are choosing this option. Some couples are opting to buy antique engagement rings. This earth-friendly trend combines environmental sensitivity with the popularity of vintage styles. Alternatively, you can select a trendy vintage stone, such as a rose cut or old mine cut diamond, and feature it in a new setting of your choice. What is old becomes new again!

Rose gold is everywhere, from jewelry and handbags to iPhones. Its soft pink tone flatters almost every complexion. If you’ve been near a jewelry store in the past two years, you cannot help but notice the omnipresence of rose gold jewelry and watches. It amps up the feminine factor and softens even the edgiest design.

Every woman wants a unique ring that’s all her own, but many still love today’s halo, vintage, and pavé styles. A great way to have the look you want, yet still stand out from the crowd is to select a “fancy” cut center diamond — and bonus — they often cost less per carat than round cut diamonds. Fancy is classified as any shape other than a round, with the most popular being oval, princess, cushion, and emerald cuts. Marquise shaped diamonds have also made a comeback, but now they are set horizontally, instead of in a traditional vertical ring setting.
