DEHRADUN TEXTILE STUDIO

1. Foundation

The site is located on the outskirts of Dehradun, nestled in the lower foothills of the Himalayas. The heavily contoured site originally consisted of agricultural terraces and mango groves. An existing water system comprising of streams and water channels which originate at the top of the hill runs through the site, until it meets the river below. The site is suggestive of a fundamental diagonal force, based on which the lay of the various buildings and farms in the design have been addressed. A. Civil Work A. ONOMICHI PROJECT The city of Onomichi is often regarded as a retreat from the bustling city living in major cities of Japan. The project as a cultural project and a part of Discoverlink Setouchi initiative attempts to be more than just a physical site for hospitality and community programs. It uses emotions and aesthetic values specifically framed and captured for the wider audience. Jobs Completed: CAD Drawings for Site Plan Context Model Mockup Site Model Mockup

CHENNAI HOUSE The spirit of the house revolves around circumambulation, the water irrigation system, the house being a breathing pavilion in a garden which traverses through past, present and future. The main wings of the house are made of series of granite walls - a stone which is local to Chennai. In a sense, these walls may have always existed as ruins. We occupy this space and build the rooms with lighter materials such as brick/ timber/ corrugated roof sheets and glass. The materials are chosen so that they remain efficient and effective in terms of economy, speed with which they can be built, ease of maintenance, and materials which are responsive to the climate.
