Outdoor Leadership Program (OLP) The Outdoor Leadership Program (OLP) is a comprehensive leadership training program designed to prepare students to take an active role in planning, coordinating, implementing and evaluating high quality and intentional Outdoor Recreation activities at CSUMB. OLP is an extensive training program focused on preparing highly skilled outdoor leaders through intensive training and professional certification. OLP combines leadership development, outdoor skills training, wilderness medicine, environmental stewardship, critical thinking, mentoring and evaluation. The curriculum integrates educational skills with outdoor and human skills in a program of leadership development.

How to Get Involved Prerequisites • CSUMB Student in good standing with three semesters minimum. • Minimum GPA – 2.5 • Some experience in Outdoor Recreation activities. • Great attitude and commitment to excellence. • Attend an informational session.

Application Process The OLP application is CLOSED. The OLP will not be accepting application during the Spring 2012 Semester. The OLP enrollment is currently full.

Commitment • Attend all monthly meetings. • Attend and complete all OLP trainings. • Assist with a minimum of three trips a semester following OLP training. • Complete an evaluation and skills inventory. • Lead a minimum of 4 trips a semester following evaluation. • Attend the CSUMB Student Leadership Conference • Attend the Otter Leader Training. • Complete & maintain a Wilderness Medicine certification. • Complete & maintain Defensive Driving

Outdoor Rental Center The Outdoor Recreation Rental Center is a complete rental shop conveniently located in the Student Center. The rental center provides outdoor equipment rental for all your outdoor needs.

How to Rent Visit Outdoor Recreation in the Student Center, complete an online rental form at CSUMB.edu/outdoor, or email a rental request to outdoor@ csumb.edu. *Please allow 24 hours to process your rental request.

Hours Monday - Thursday 12pm - 5pm *Friday Pick-up can be prearranged.

Otter Cycle Center Classes & Clinics All Rides, Classes & Clinics meet at the Otter Cycle Center in the Student Center unless otherwise indicated. Each Ride includes the use of a bike and helmet. Please be sure to eat a good meal and bring a small snack and water.

Common Adventures Outdoor Recreation is a resource aiding students in organizing and executing their own outdoor trip ideas. Participants share all aspects of planning and executing their own trips including expenses, decisionmaking and logistics. Visit the Outdoor Recreation and the Common Adventures posting board in the Student Center for more information.

CSUMB Challenge Course The CSUMB Challenge Course is committed to the development of human potential through experiential and adventure-based programming.

We design programs to: • Improve teamwork, group cohesion and cooperation • Develop leadership, encourage problem solving and improve communication • Challenge groups to achieve their potential Our Challenge Course is open to CSUMB and community groups. We custom design experiential programs for nonprofits, businesses and schools. Our programs encourage groups to challenge assumptions and reach beyond perceived limitations to achieve their potential. Participants explore intrapersonal and interpersonal relationships while engaged in experiential challenges through portable adventures and on our high and low ropes course.
