Many of you will have recently returned from your home countries, especially now we are well into Cyprus springtime and the tourist season draws near. As we all prepare for what, no doubt will be another long, hot summer, there are exciting times ahead. For those of you in business, 2018 is predicted to be another record breaking year for tourism and with both UK and Cyprus Easter coming early this year, no doubt March will be a month of early preparation for us all to try and capitalise on this. In this month’s magazine, we have an update on Brexit and most importantly information and advice for those looking to become permanent residents. This information has come direct from the High Commission and should be taken very seriously in relation to the changes that will occur over the months ahead for British natives living in EU countries.

British High Commissioners Eastern Cyprus Roadshow IMPORTANT INFORMATION Throughout February, The British High Commissioner, Matthew Kidd and his team have been conducting roadshows around Eastern Cyprus to give information and clarification to ex-pats about Brexit and about Permanent Residency in Cyprus. The information in relation to the key points discussed is below. Please read carefully as this may apply to you or someone you know:
The British High Commissioner Matthew Kidd
Residency If you DO NOT have a yellow slip and you are living mainly in Cyprus and want the benefits associated with being a Cyprus resident - YOU NEED TO APPLY FOR A YELLOW SLIP. If you have lived in Cyprus for 5 years or more AND already have your yellow slip, you need to apply for the MEU3 which is the form for permanent residency in Cyprus. What You Will Need Recommended documents which may be submitted for the application of a Certificate of Permanent Residence, by the person concerned in order to prove the continuity of Residence in the Republic of Cyprus. Note that the below mentioned documents are NOT ALL required in every case, nor individually, but as appropriate depending on the case. 1) Certificate of Registration or Residence Card. 2) Rental agreement or property sale contract, or title deed, for the last five years. 3) Utility bills or statements of accounts from the relevant Authority (water, or telephone or electricity) dating back five years. 4) Bank statements dating back five years. 5) Social Insurance Certificate for contributions over the last five years by month. 6) Any other document proving the completion of a continuous period of five years in the Republic of Cyprus. Where and How to Apply? The application costs just â‚Ź20 to upgrade to permanent residency (MEU3). This is not a new format because of Brexit, this has always been the way to apply for permanent residency. The Yellow slip is JUST a registration and is NOT a permanent residency document. Permanent residency can only be applied for after being in Cyprus for over 5 years and being in a position to prove that within that time you have actively been living and contributing in Cyprus by working or by paying rent, electric, water and having pensions or savings plans paid here. Please go to your local immigration office, pick up the form and at the same time book in for an appointment. This process can take several weeks due to the volume of people applying. If you have a yellow slip already but have not yet been resident in the country for 5 years or more, you will be eligible to apply for permanent residency AFTER the five years is complete. The High Commission is advising expats to register or apply for permanent residency. It is not compulsory but will entitle you to the privileges of a permanent Cyprus resident even when the UK comes out of the EU. If you are an EU national that is married to a Cypriot you still need to apply for the MEU3. If your children have a British or European passport, they will need to be included in the application on the MEU3. Healthcare It was also confirmed that if you are resident in Cyprus or permanently living in Cyprus that you should NOT be using your E111 (European Health Insurance Card) and that the British Government is making checks regarding this. Pensions It is anticipated that most things will remain the same for expats living in Cyprus after Brexit and that pensions will still be able to be sent here with no cap on the amount International Business with the UK Those businesses that currently trade with companies in the UK may see a change to the trading laws where VAT will have to be paid on goods purchased from the UK or charged to buyers who are in the UK. This has NOT yet been confirmed but will be announced as soon as final negotiations have taken place. 7

Movie Review: Darkest Hour Darkest Hour is a 2017 British biography, drama, history war movie about the newly-appointed British Prime Minister Winston Churchill, in the beginning of World War II. Winston Churchill, played by Gary Oldman, must decide either to negotiate with Hitler or fight him, even though all odds are against him. As the unstoppable Nazi forces conquer Western Europe and the threat of invasion is very close, Churchill must withstand his darkest hour; rally a nation and attempt to change the course of world history. Gary Oldman's performance was applauded, with a lot of critics saying it is one of the best of his career; he won the Golden Globe Award for Best Actor.
Documentary Review: Blue Planet II Blue Planet II is a British documentary mini-series produced by BBC One and BBC Earth, about marine life. Sir David Frederick Attenborough, presenter and narrator of this documentary, comes back to the world's oceans, after almost 16 years since Blue Planet I aired. In this documentary they are filming rare and unusual creatures of the deep, as well as documenting the problems our oceans face today. While watching this amazing documentary, you will travel from coral reefs to the deepest of our oceans and from coast lines to the green seas, discovering the magic under water. On the last episode of the series ‘Our Blue Planet’, you‘ll see the impact of human activities, which threaten now more than ever, the marine life and our precious ecosystem. The music for these series was composed by Hans Zimmer.

Men’s Health - Depression Use Your Voice Depression can affect all of us, sometimes it only lasts for a short period, but for some of us it can be a lot longer and a lot deeper than that. It doesn’t matter what started it, admitting that we have a problem is our biggest pitfall as a man. We are too stubborn and too strong to admit that we may have a problem; we will just shrug it off as feeling a bit low. The thing is we are not too strong and our stubbornness is just sometimes pig headedness. Like any problem, be it alcohol, drugs or gambling, the first step to conquering it and coming out the other side is admission. Even if that is standing in front of the mirror on your own and saying it. It’s a small step in the right direction. Look in the Mirror As men we generally show symptoms of depression in a different way to women, that’s not to say that the symptoms aren’t noticeable though. We might not cry, scream or even write things down to see them clearer. We, on the whole go the other way. Our bad moods can last for weeks and months instead of hours and days. It’s like a bad cold that you just can’t shake. We can also become angry at the smallest things. Things that before you may have laughed at or shrugged off. Now you could find yourself shouting, lashing out and being downright violent for no apparent reason. We’ve all got a crazy friend that does stupid things all the time just to get a laugh. But what if you are doing stupid things for no reason? Driving at stupid speeds because you’re speedo has a bigger number on it, starting a fight with a guy that looks like Mike Tyson knowing full well you are never going to win. Silly, crazy things. Not in the Bottle When we have depression, around 25% of us go straight to alcohol for the answer. Beer makes us feel good right? We always laugh and joke with our mates after a few pints. The thing is you will probably be having that beer or whisky sat on your own and you will probably have too many because the first couple didn’t do what you thought they would, so you keep going. It sounds like it’s easy for me to say, but it’s not. I’ve been there, it’s not worth it. It will drag you down further and exacerbate your anger, your exhaustion and your craziness. If you know you have a least one of these signs, do something about it before it’s too late. Depression can kill. In men it is the 7th biggest cause of death and that is just insane. Whether it is a friend, family, your doctor, a support group or the person you are sat next to right now on the bus, just say those first few words. Get it out there and then you can move forward to getting proper help. I did and now I get to see my family grow and to cherish my life. It can be done, you are never alone my friend. As Robin Williams once said “You must strive to find your own voice because the longer you wait to begin, the less likely you are to find it at all.” Good luck. 28

Sciatica Many people commonly self-diagnose lower back pain and leg pain as sciatica, but what is sciatica? Sciatica is the name for a syndrome characterised by pain that radiates along the path of the sciatic nerve, which is the longest and largest nerve in the body. It is as thick as one of your fingers where it arises in the lower spine. It travels from your lower back through your hip and buttock and down your leg where it divides into two branches at the knee. This nerve controls the muscles of the back of the knee and lower leg. It also provides sensation to the back of the thigh, part of the lower leg and the sole of the foot. Common causes of sciatica include: • Facet irritation of the joints in the lower back. • Lumbar spinal stenosis (narrowing of the spinal canal). • Degenerative disc disease (discs act as cushions between the bones in the spine). • Prolapsed disc (slipped disc in layman's terms). • Spondylolisthesis/retrolisthesis (a vertebra slips forward/backwards over another one). • Pregnancy. • Herniated disk or a bone spur on the spine compressing part of the nerve. • Piriformis syndrome. • Pelvic injury or fracture. • Tumours. • Other things that may make your back pain worse include obesity, lack of exercise, wearing high heels or sleeping on a mattress that is too soft.

Common symptoms of sciatic nerve neuropathy can include: • Pain in the buttock or leg that is worse when sitting. • Burning or tingling down the leg. • Weakness, numbness or difficulty moving the leg or foot. • A constant pain on one side of the buttock. • A jolt like an electric shock. • A shooting pain that makes it difficult to stand up. • It may be worse coughing, sneezing or bearing down on the toilet. • Sciatica usually affects one side of the lower body. Often, the pain extends from the lower back, through the back of the thigh and down the leg, it may extend to the foot or toes. Risk factors for sciatica include: • Age-related changes in the spine. • Obesity. • Occupation, as it can have implications on your posture. • People who sit for prolonged periods are more likely to develop sciatica than active people. • Diabetes affects the way your body uses blood sugar increasing your risk of nerve damage. For some people, the pain from sciatica can be severe and debilitating. For others, the sciatica pain might be infrequent and irritating, but has the potential to get worse. It is best to seek medical advice as soon as symptoms appear. An Osteopath may help relieve the symptoms of sciatica by treating relevant joints, muscles, ligaments, tendons or organs to reduce the pressure on the sciatic nerve.

Spring Wreaths Spring is here! March has arrived and has brought with it all the joys of spring! The sun is out and the days are staying brighter for longer. The temperature is starting to rise and you get that wonderful smell after the rain. We also see new beginnings all around us with baby animals being born, blossom and new leaves on trees and flowers coming out. Because of this, I thought it would be nice to celebrate spring and make something as bright and cheerful as the season to have in the house. That’s why I decided to make Spring Wreaths. What you will need: Cardboard or an empty cereal box Cardboard egg carton base A pencil Scissors Green and yellow paint Yellow paper Green swatches of card, paper and / or felt Glue How you do it: 1) Start by making your wreath template from card. I used a compass to make my circles but you could just as easily draw around something. Cut out your template. 2) Using your egg carton base, cut out each hollow separately and shape each one, so that it has four semi-circle tops to resemble petals (see photos). 3) Draw out bases for your cardboard flower centres and cut them out. 4) Time for paint! Paint your wreath template green and your egg carton pieces yellow, inside and out. Allow to dry. We painted the wreath first and by the time we had finished the egg cartons they were dry. 5) Now it is time for the glue and to put your wreath together. We glued the green swatches on to our wreath template so it looked more like foliage and then glued the flower bases on top and finished by placing the egg carton flower centres in the middle. I am really pleased with the finished Daffodil Wreaths and have decided that we will actually be hanging them on the front door! Obviously, you don’t have to do Daffodils; you can add whatever embellishments you choose. You could cut out fabric flowers or get your little one to draw and cut out things to add to make it truly their own piece. You could add ribbon bows or even real flowers. Wishing you all a cheerful, bright and sunny spring! Written by Sam Barnes. Sam Barnes is primarily a stay at home mum of two, who has loved crafting for many years. Do You Use Antivirus Apps on Your Smartphone or Tablet? Everyone knows that you need an antivirus on your computer, but what about your smartphone or tablet? The short answer is that yes, you probably need some sort of security app because there are security vulnerabilities in these devices.
Android
Because Android app stores have a tendency to be pretty lax when it comes to screening apps, they regularly let in quite a few apps that contain Android-specific malware. Ransomware is an especially insidious threat that’s been popping up more over the past few years and protecting your phone against it could save you a lot of trouble. Android has a near-monopoly on mobile malware threats. Fortunately, there are a number of high-quality Android antivirus and antimalware apps available and choosing one really comes down to which interface you find easiest to use.
iOS
You hear people say that you don’t need antivirus software on OS X or iOS because iOS is basically a scaled-down version of the Mac operating system. You do need antivirus software on your Mac, so do you need it on your iPhone or iPad too? Apple keeps a closer eye on its app store than Android app providers do on theirs, which means you’re less likely to download malware. For this reason, Apple doesn’t even allow true antivirus apps into the app store; they’re just not needed (at least according to Apple). Apple also created iOS to be very secure, so full-system scanning apps aren’t allowed in the app store. The security apps that you find only have limited scanning ability, often for email attachments or single files. This makes them rather ineffective as antivirus apps, but because of the low chances that you’ll actually need one, that’s not a problem. In conclusion, your risk of downloading malware depends very much on the mobile platform that you use, as do your options for preventing it. No matter which smartphone or tablet you have, it’s probably a good idea to run at least some protection. Mountain High, Pothole Deep Residing on the beautiful island of Cyprus, there are many picturesque roads to drive down and enjoy the scenery, the views and the driving. Unfortunately, the quality of the roads can be suspect to say the least. Living in and around Pernera these last couple of winters especially, can have a seriously detrimental impact on your car’s wheels, suspension and engine. Well all of it to be truly honest. Watching an episode of The Grand Tour a few weeks ago got me thinking. Richard Hammond was having a brilliant time driving off road, through the desert and without any problems to his vehicle. So here is my top 5, tongue in cheek, perfect vehicles for getting around this amazing country. Beach Buggies Ok, I admit in the winter it may be a bit chilly in one of these but the fun you can have is endless. With its timeless good looks and so many options available, you could really be onto a winner. Your own personalised, classic, beach buggy. Off Road Motorcycle There are literally hundreds of off road bikes available out there, but I didn’t want a normal dirt bike. I want this BMW 1200. If Ewan McGregor can get all the way around the world on one, then from John O’Groats to Cape Town, they must be good. Built for all terrains, it will cruise down the motorway then up a mountain without a problem. Comfortable freedom every time. That Sunday afternoon ride out may not be long enough. Hovercraft Maybe the best idea yet. Float your way down the street, over the potholes and then it’s up to you. It will probably struggle on the big hills, but if you live on relatively flat land you’re onto a winner. You don’t even need to use the roads. Head out to the beach, into the sea and then you can carry on to Larnaca, do a bit of shopping and back again in no time. You’ll never have to worry about roadworks, potholes or summer traffic again. You also have the added benefit of using it as a nice cooling fan during the sweltering summer months. Jetpacks The idea for jetpacks has been around for a long time now but has never really ‘taken off’. Maybe it was the idea that you had what equated to a small bomb strapped to your back that put some people off. If you could perfect the design though, it would be ideal for Cyprus. Glide through the air in the summer, taking in magical views and finding perfect little quiet spots that vehicles can’t get to. I wouldn’t advise using it during hunting season however. Road Legal Tank This is the machine that got me thinking; the Ripsaw. If you do have a spare half a million or so, lying around to buy one, can I have a go please? This luxury tank is kitted out with all the things you would expect in a car. The whole thing is custom made to what you want inside it. Road rage will be a thing of the past as you can drive over virtually anything, while sitting in air-conditioned comfort. Luckily for other road users it comes without a turret, but is jam packed with fun and excitement. 38

Bakaliaros Skordalia (Battered Cod Fish with Potatoes & Garlic Mash) One very important Public Holiday in Cyprus is 25th of March. It is the Greek Independence Day, when in 1821 the Greeks rose up against the Ottoman Empire. It’s also a religious holiday as it is the Feast of the Annunciation of the Virgin Mary. Always though, this public holiday is within the 40 days period of fasting before the Orthodox Easter. So Bakaliaros Skordalia is the traditional dish that is cooked that day, the Greek/Cypriot version of Fish & Chips. INGREDIENTS (Serves 2) 400gr cod fillet vegetable oil (for frying) Batter: 500ml water, at room temperature 500gr all-purpose flour 330ml lager beer at room temperature 2 packets active dry yeast 2 large pinches of sugar 1 pinch of salt Skordalia: 3-4 potatoes, peeled and cut into pieces (750 g) 1 teaspoon of salt 3 cloves of garlic 175ml olive oil 50ml white wine vinegar salt pepper METHOD In a bowl add the water, beer, yeast and sugar. Whisk all together to combine. Set the mixture aside for 15 minutes. After add the flour and a pinch of salt and whisk until all of the flour is incorporated and the mixture is smooth with absolutely no lumps. Cover the mixture with plastic wrap and set it aside for 1-2 hours, until it doubles in size. Pat the codfish dry with paper towels, dip into the batter to cover completely and fry in 180oC (350o F) vegetable oil until golden and crispy. Boil the potatoes for 15-30 minutes, with a teaspoon of salt, until they soften. In a food processor add the olive oil, garlic, white wine vinegar, salt and pepper and beat until the garlic completely breaks down. When your potatoes are ready, drain them and set aside for 5 minutes, to allow all of the steam to evaporate. After 5 minutes, immediately transfer to a bowl and mash them with a potato masher. Add the garlic-oil and stir to incorporate. Season the mash to taste. Keep in mind that the more time goes by, the garlic smell becomes stronger and also, the mash becomes thicker and stiffer.

Thinking Outside of Your ‘Box’ There’s a wonderful lady called Tricia Sugden, who runs a company called ‘Look Fabulous Forever’. It’s dedicated to the celebration of mature beauty and while it is indeed aimed at older women (of which I am one), her blog about challenging perceptions of what is deemed acceptable by other people, about dealing with peer pressure (which happens at any age) and finally about our own perceptions of the image that we want to present to the world, set me thinking about how this applies equally to our ideas about home decoration and how we might fear making ‘mistakes’. To counter this, here are a few quotations you might like: “Style is knowing who you are, what you want to say and not give a damn.” Gore Vidal. “Never fear being vulgar, just boring.” Diana Vreeland. “Ordinary is pointless” (seen on a Gü yoghurt pot in the UK). A bit of the Gore Vidal certainly wouldn’t hurt how we approach decorating our homes. Ignore trends or if you like them, be prepared to keep liking them when they’ve gone. Do your own thing. If you really like what you’re planning, stick to your guns. This may well lead to some protracted marital negotiations, but hey, you might win! If you want to ask a friend (or a professional) for an opinion, listen and then weigh it up against your original thoughts and your gut feelings. As for Diana Vreeland’s ‘boring’, I once went to a house where the carpets, curtains, cushions, absolutely everything was the same shade of beige (and we’re not talking Kelly Hoppen beige here). Diana and the yoghurt pot were spot-on. What about making mistakes? “To swear off making mistakes is very easy. All you have to do is swear off having ideas.” Leo Burnett. “For me, style is about how you feel that day and what inspires you, as well as taking chances and making mistakes.” Dree Hemingway. “Creativity is allowing yourself to make mistakes. Design is knowing which ones to keep.” Scott Adams We all make mistakes, even when trusting to gut feeling! But designing and decorating is fun even on limited budgets and most mistakes can be remedied sooner or later. Small example, our headboard is a wide panel with the bedside lights installed in it and a couple of Ikea Eket boxes attached as bedside tables. I got it into my head to do it in chocolate brown. Maybe fine in the UK but it turned out to be a definite no-no in Cyprus. It’s now a beautiful turquoise, after some protracted marital negotiations with the-one-who-does-the painting! Children’s Compost Corner - Growing a Tea Cup Fairy Garden All you need is an old cup and saucer. Put a few small pebbles at the bottom of the cup topped with a small amount of soil. Find a plant that you like - a small cacti or succulent works well. Try and find different shades and colours to make your garden more interesting. Add some shells and/or colourful stones, even marbles or shiny beads. Tiny dolls house furniture can be used as garden furniture and you can be as creative as you like. It does not have to be in a tea cup, it could be in an old teapot. Either way, tea cups or teapots do not have drainage holes so water your tiny garden sparingly and carefully. The stones or pebbles at the bottom help with the drainage but if you think you have overwatered, just gently tilt the cup to one side and pour away the excess water. They can be house plants left in the garden or even little herbs make good mini gardens and they are edible.
How to Grow a Tomato Plant from One Slice Choosing a packet of seeds to grow a tomato plant is easy but do you know exactly how the tomatoes will taste? Not always! So here is a really easy way to grow exactly the tomato plant that you like. Cut your tomato into thin slices; do not use the ends, just the cuts with the pips in. Fill a pot with good all-purpose compost and just lay your tomato slice on the top. Lightly cover with more compost and water. In about two weeks you should start to see the seeds sprouting. Pick out the strongest or largest shoots to replant. When you transplant the seedlings make sure the pot will be big enough for a full grown tomato plant. Certain varieties will need support with canes and do not forget that tomatoes really love water. So water daily, do not let them dry out and be careful to water with the same amount every day. Insufficient watering and feeding can cause black bottom on your plant; this is where your beautiful red tomato goes black underneath. Buy to Let 2018 The last few months have seen a marked upsurge in the number of clients looking for buy to let properties, so we thought it a good idea to revisit the topic and evaluate the potential returns on this kind of investment. Tourism and the Property Market 2017 was a record for visitors in Cyprus, with record numbers of overseas visitors leading to increased demand for both purchase of holiday property and rentals (both short and long term). Sales to foreign buyers increased 33% across the island compared to 2016 and demand continues to grow. 2018 predictions are for further growth in tourism numbers from all destinations which is extremely positive. Key factors behind increased interest from abroad are: • Political uncertainty in many countries. • Cyprus offers excellent packages for both permanent residence and passports. • Property prices are now believed to offer excellent value for money even though prices are beginning to rise. • Forecast is good for capital appreciation in the medium term. • Return on investment (rental yield) for rental properties is improving for all types of property. Focusing on the last point above, it is an excellent time to buy for investment purposes. Increased demand for accommodation from tourists will result in rental yields improving still further this year. Many holiday home owners and rental booking agents are reporting full capacity already on quality properties in the region. Holiday Rental Returns
Long Term Rental Returns Agents are reporting increased rents and lack of available properties for long term let. Two bedroom apartments are now renting for up to €450 per month and three bedroom houses up to €1000 per month, dependent on area and condition so this can also be an attractive alternative. * Apartments are assumed to have a communal pool, verandah, be in good condition in a tourist resort area and have good communal standards. * Villas are assumed to be detached, have private pools, be in good condition, situated in a tourist resort area

Communal Property Advice While there are many benefits to owning a property in an apartment building, development or resort, there are also additional concerns. This is why it’s essential when purchasing property with communal facilities, that you properly understand the unique aspects relating to communal property ownership.
This Issue: Building Insurance
Committee Liability Insurance In addition to public liability insurance, I strongly suggest that every building takes out a policy to cover the liability of the individual members of the committee. You will need to ask specifically for this as its not usually included in most default insurance policies. It’s important to note that this is different from liability insurance which covers the building against claims from third parties. This is additional coverage for legal expenses or compensation awards against the committee for any claim by a PROPERTY OWNER or public authority. Make 100% sure that your insurance agent knows exactly what you are asking for, as this is something that they may not be fully familiar with.
It is a legal requirement for the Management Committee to organise fire, lightning and earthquake insurance for the building at a suitable level to cover the rebuild costs of the communal areas of the building. While there is no legal requirement for public liability insurance under the Regulations, this is strongly advised. A communal building is a high-risk area, with items like lifts, pools and car parks which all pose a high potential risk of accident/injury to a vendor or Did you find this Article useful? Wills and Succession Law in Cyprus - Part 2 Calculation of the Disposable Portion The exact portion between the statutory and the disposable portion varies depending on the surviving relatives at the time of the testator’s death and the degree of kinship with the deceased. In case of leaving a surviving spouse and children or any descendant of any children (grandchildren) who died while the testator was alive, the compulsory portion is three quarters of the net value of the estate. This means that the disposable portion, namely the portion that can be distributed according to the testator’s wishes must not exceed the one-fourth of the net value. However, if the deceased had no surviving children or any descendant of a child, but a spouse or parent, the statutory portion is half of the net estate, thus the disposable portion is one-half of the net value. The only way for the testator to dispose of his/her assets freely is if he/she dies without having a spouse, children or descendants of children or parents. However, it must be noted that in case where the testator distributes more than the disposable portion of his/her estate, the will is not considered as invalid, but the distribution will be decreased proportionately to the portions that the deceased was allowed to dispose of.
The Rights of the Surviving Spouse and Succession The repayments of any debts or death expenses or liabilities of the estate come first. However, after the clarification of the aforementioned, The Wills and Succession Law (Cap 195), article 44, provides that in order for the estate to be disposed of to the relatives, the portion of the surviving spouse must be calculated since a prior share must be set aside for him/her. The spouse is entitled both the part of the statutory portion and the part of the disposable portion that may remain undisposed of, if any. The share of the spouse varies according to the degree of kinship of the surviving relatives. Kindly provided by Andreas Danos & Associates Law Firm

There are complications in your love life, but issues can be solved and in the end you make it through. Professional opportunities appear which may be related to intellectual and creative abilities, travels, communication or long-distance collaborations. It is going to be a pretty tense month that puts a strain on both body and mind. You have to take good care of yourself. Avoid conflicts.
You might find yourself involved in a passionate affair but one with risks and turbulence. You go through a term marked by business and effort, during which things don’t move as quickly as you might want them to. Focus on your health and fitness this month. There is a heightened need to share feelings, thoughts, impressions or information with your loved one. You get the opportunity to stand out, consolidate your influence, have more freedom to decide on things and act in your professional life. Home and properties demand more attention and effort. Your physique is not up to par. Try to prevent potential incidents when it comes to family life or loss related to home!
This is a romantic month, which brings luck in love and is typical for terms of flirting, falling in love, affairs or escalations of love life. Your work atmosphere is favourable and as a result of this you get good results and your achievements are appreciated. You’re full of confidence and vitality. Steer clear of incidents that can occur while traveling or through the misuse of dangerous objects!
It’s a month full of sensuality, very generous in terms of love life. There’s harmony between major goals and current, day to day professional activities. At some point you might find yourself under a set of circumstances that are very favourable. You have a lot of energy and there are no health issues in sight. Save up, don’t throw money away and don’t embark on risky money-related manoeuvres!
You might find love while traveling or love could cause it. You can be successful in writing, collecting information, in an exam or interview, when negotiating or giving a speech. Commercial pursuits and handiwork are favoured. You should take care of yourself, do your regular check-ups, follow doctor’s orders and rest. Try to focus on the bright side of things and make some time for yourself too!
A Vampire's Tale I haven't always been a vampire you know; in fact I used to be an estate agent. However, when I started to feel the need to sleep in boxes during the hours of daylight, they suggested I might like to consider resigning. Fair enough, I couldn't argue with that could I? It all began with my mini break to Romania. On the first night at my Transylvanian hotel a sultry black eyed chickadee appeared at my bedroom window. I naively thought that she was the holiday rep come to give me the welcoming spiel. How wrong could I have been? When I returned home to Paranormal, I noticed two puncture marks on the side of my neck; also my Mr Happy was looking decidedly anything but! I must say though I have adapted well to the vampire life style, having built a reputation for keeping a high class cellar of my much sought after and rare virgin's blood. This fine vintage is only drunk on high days and holidays. On weekdays my fraternity make do with goblet of the common 'O' group blood, similar in vinous terms to a cheap to modest dinner wine. The weatherman had been predicting a summer even hotter than usual. We vampires need to stay cool. So I called the air con engineer at once to arrange a service call. I told him I was off to Nicosia for the day and would leave the key under the mat. Little did he know as he was carrying out his duties that I was at rest in a casket under the stairs. I felt very hot and clammy that day. My sleep was fitful and interspersed with nightmares. I longed for twilight time when I could have a cold shower and sharpen up my canine teeth ready for the night shift. When I eventually climbed from the casket, I almost passed out from the overpowering heat present in my villa. What was going on? With my eyes blinded by a constant trickle of perspiration, I staggered down to my air con mission control situated in my cellar. Before I finally fainted, I discovered the reason for the oppressive temperatures. It seemed the engineer instead of turning off the air con had switched it to central heating. After several hours throbbing away at full blast, combined with the excessive daytime temperature, it had burst open all my precious phials of virgin's blood. The spilled delicacy wept red tears slowly onto the flagstone floor where it was eagerly being lapped up by Vlad and Glad, my pet bats. To make matters worse my broker regrets to inform me that my home insurance policy does not cover claims for the loss of virgin's blood. By Clive Gardner
The Subconscious Mind Many people say that to (re)program your subconscious mind you need to create a habit that could take up to 28-days. Although this too can work, I say open yourself up to your higher power if you wish to experience instant change. For example, the subconscious can be programmed INSTANTLY with new behaviours; new thinking and feeling patterns if you consciously make the decision that your new way will be consistent and you believe in your heart that this new way is the new you. Then BANG, a program is formed. And how long does it take until you see these changes in your life? Instantly! And each time you act out the new behaviour, you strengthen the new program. But there are two ingredients required to create a new subconscious program: 1) you must be relaxed and 2) you must believe. Seriously, it is time to wake up to your true powers, potential, intelligence, and wisdom. You are almighty and can do anything you put your mind to. Don't take my word for it, test yourself and you will understand. By Venetia Zannettis Speaker | Law of Attraction | Manifesting & Abundance Expert | NLP | Master Healer | Spirit Guide

DIY Cleaning Products A lot of the cleaning products that we use in our households daily can expose us and our families to harmful chemicals. It was discovered in a study a couple of years ago that you could find hormone-disrupting phthalates, parabens, & bisphenol-A (BPA) in common household cleaning products. Unfortunately, not all manufacturers have a list of ingredients on the labels of their products. Even if they do list them, they may still choose to skip some or hide them under the ingredient ‘fragrance’. You can make your own cleaning products. It is easy, will save you money, protect yourself and your family from harmful chemicals and you will contribute to the protection of our planet. Since we live in the DIY era, here are some easy recipes to make your own cleaning products, using only 6 ingredients: water, baking soda, vinegar, hydrogen peroxide, olive oil and lemons or lemon essential oil. Important tip: Don’t forget to put labels on the bottles that you store your DIY cleaning products! These recipes are just the beginning to making your own homemade cleaners! All Purpose Cleaner Ingredients: • A reusable spray bottle • Vinegar • Water (optional) • Cloth Pour vinegar into a spray bottle and spray surfaces. Leave on for about 5 minutes and wipe with a cloth. The vinegar smell will go away once dry, but if the smell of vinegar really bothers you, try diluting the vinegar with water (50:50). You can use vinegar to clean your windows and as a floor cleaner to mop any kind of floor; just add a cup of vinegar into a bucket of hot water. Bath Tub Cleaner Ingredients: • Baking Soda • Hydrogen Peroxide • Lemons/ Lemon Essential Oil (optional) • Scrub brush Make a paste with the baking soda and hydrogen peroxide. Add lemon or lemon essential oil for an added refreshing boost. Apply the mixture to the tub and scrub with a scrubbing brush. Rinse well. Borax is also another easy, inexpensive cleaning solution. Just add Borax to the tub and scrub with a wet cloth or scrubbing brush. Rinse well. Carpet Freshener Ingredients: • Baking Soda • Lemon Essential Oil (optional) Sprinkle baking soda onto carpet. Wait about an hour or so and vacuum. For a refreshing boost, add approximately 10 drops of essential oil to the baking soda box, mix well and allow setting for 1 - 2 days. Sprinkle onto carpet, wait about an hour or so and vacuum. 56
Stainless Steel Cleaner Ingredients: • Baking Soda • Hydrogen Peroxide • Lemons • Scrub brush for dishes Sprinkle baking soda onto a pan and spray with hydrogen peroxide. Take a lemon wedge and use it as a scrubber on the pan. Add more baking soda and hydrogen peroxide as needed and change the lemon wedge once it has changed colour. Use the scrubbing brush to remove any leftover grease. Wood Cleaner Ingredients: • Spray bottle • Olive Oil • Lemons or Lemon Essential Oil • Cloth Add 1 cup of olive oil and the juice of 5 lemons (or enough essential oil that you smell the lemon) to the spray bottle and shake vigorously. Spray the mixture onto furniture and wipe with a cloth. You can also make a wood furniture polish using a 1:1 mixture of olive oil and vinegar. Sink Drain Cleaner Ingredients: • Baking Soda • Vinegar • Lemons (optional) Pour ½ a cup of baking soda into the drain. Add 1 cup vinegar. Allow to foam and bubble then rinse with hot water. For a refreshing boost, add lemon juice to vinegar and baking soda or grind lemon rind in the garbage disposal after the baking soda/vinegar volcano is complete. Air Freshener Ingredients: • Reusable Spray • Water • Essential oil of your choice; lemon essential oil works wonderfully Add 15 - 20 drops of your favourite essential oil to 16 ounces of water. Shake the spray bottle and voila; refreshing homemade air freshener that costs you a fraction of what your normal air freshener costs.
Pet of the Month This month we are featuring Tiffany a small-medium sized poodle/terrier cross with a soft silky long-haired black and tan coat. Tiffany was found on the track outside the Sanctuary in February and ran towards us all wagging her tail when she arrived at the gate. Tiffany is a really friendly little dog who loves everyone and will make an amazing pet for any family, always ready for a cuddle and very interested in everything going on around her. We believe she is about 6 months old and has been living in a home, as she is comfortable with all environments, walks well on a lead and seems very happy travelling in a car. Unfortunately, Tiffany was not micro chipped, so we were unable to trace her owner. She is a lovely girl who is really sociable and so would fit well into any home. Tiffany can be seen at the Argos Animal Sanctuary, Ormideia, which is open 7 days a week from 11:00am until 3:30pm. Or you can telephone Julia on 99599240 for any additional information about Tiffany or if you want to adopt a different type of dog or a cat. More dogs and cats looking for homes can be seen on the Argos webpage www.argossanctuary.com and our Facebook page Argos Animal Sanctuary. Hello my Daxi friends! Spring is finally here! Don’t forget that as soon as it stops raining those little creepy crawling fleas and ticks will be out and about thirsty and looking for a nice cosy new home. Your pet’s fur!! So don’t forget to start early with your pet’s flea and tick treatment. There are lots of different products to choose from. Ask your local vet for advice.
Under French law it's illegal to name a pig ‘Napoleon’. I’m going to check this out next time I’m in Paris, walking my pig ‘Napoleon’!
I thought I would write about something different this month. Here are some weird animal reports i read about:
Humans and chimps are so closely related that we share 96% of our DNA with them. It could even be possible for a person to accept a blood transfusion from a chimp if their blood matched. Hello you chimps! What are you waiting for?... go fill out those forms at the hospital!
Male pups will intentionally let female pups win when play fighting so they can get to know them better. Hmmm like humans… and then the real fighting starts! Male penguins propose by rolling a pebble towards the selected female. If she picks it up it means she accepts. Hope the pebble doesn’t roll away and land in front of some other female... that would be a bit awkward! Sea horses are monogamous for life. They travel by holding each other’s tails. Strange I’ve never seen that when I go scuba diving; must have seen only single sea horses then! Sea otters hold each other’s paws when they sleep so they don't drift apart. It sounds a bit impossible to me, since they don't have fingers! Heavy metal makes birds gay!! No, not the music!! In a research, scientist discovered that mercury in the diet of male waders made them mate with other male. Keep that mercury away or birds will soon become extinct!

It’s illegal in Alaska to wake a sleeping bear for the purpose of taking a photo. How about for the purpose of it eating you? Is that legal? Who would want to wake a sleeping bear anyway!!!??
After appearing in over 50 movies, most famously in Tarzan starring as ‘Cheetah’, Jigs the chimp enjoyed his retirement at a primate sanctuary in Florida, where he spent most of his days painting and watching football. I had always thought ‘Cheetah’ was a girl! Wonder if he sold any of his paintings!? In Ohio it's illegal to get a fish drunk! I swear I read it! Hope you enjoyed that!
