WE LOVE BEING THEIR
Our engaging classrooms and nurturing teachers provide students with the warm, safe environment they need to grow.
Thanks, Mom!
Watching my 6-year-old daughter Eva's enthralling aerial skills for the fi rst time at a local studio we love — The Dayton Dance Centre — I felt happy. Look at her go, it’s like she has done this a million times before. I wonder what she will be when she grows up, I thought. The studio is a bit of a drive for us, but I am willing to take the drive if it means seeing her enthusiasm and excitement. As I sat there starstruck, I spoke to a lady who was waiting for her private lessons to begin. Her eyes were set on Eva — she couldn't get enough of her as she twirled and spun around in the purple silks. “Oh, she is so cute,” she said. “I could watch her all day!” We talked about the busy mom life overfl owing with drop offs, pickups, recreational activities and living a life that literally revolves around the kids. She said how she is now at the point in her life where the kids are grown up and she has tons more time on her hands, hence the dance lessons. “I remember those days. I know they were busy but I really do miss them.” This landed with me. I thought about how I was a kid once and how my mom would drive me back and forth to gymnastics, cheerleading, dance and the list goes on. I can now say, I get it now, Mom. I get how hard it must have been to put us kids fi rst no matter how tired and busy you were, but you did it. For Mother’s Day, I fi rst want to recognize all of the moms out there who sacrifi ce their time for their kids while also thanking my mom. If it weren’t for you, Mom, I wouldn’t be the kind of mom I am today. I get it now and I know it wasn't easy. So thank you, Mom, for:
• Making sure my uniforms were cleaned and ready to go for every single competition and game. • Always being my support and cheering me on, no matter if I did great or failed. • Trying to work while juggling your time with us and making every day happen. • Telling me not to give up when at times I really wanted to. • Keeping me in line when I stepped out. • Making even the little things important. • Taking the time to listen. • Planning family outings. • Taking care of not only all of us four kids, the house, all of it - but never asking for any help in return (because now I know how much help you really needed).
Happy Mother’s Day to all of the wonderful moms out there who think what they do behind closed doors is invisible. You are appreciated. Mom, if I ever forgot to thank you for all of the simple things you did for me, I'm thanking you now. Happy Mother's Day, Mom!"
