Visit Piper Street ~ Kyneton

Piper Street in Kyneton is a standout. It is a vibrant retail street that holds its own against big city shopping strips.

Piper Street shops mix modern style with old world classicism and a funky vibe. Original wooden lintels meet hip window displays and understated signs; restored spaces meet cool and spare, or warm and eclectic, interiors. This largely unchanged streetscape houses a surprisingly refreshing choice of shopping options. Browse original works from artists painting in their own galleries, or scour any number of specialty shops who all offer products from small artisanal makers from all over the world. Add boutique clothes, Persian rugs and throw in a scattering of homewares shops and you can understand why Piper Street is the “talked about” country shopping destination.

After you’re exhausted from all of that shopping you’ll need to refuel. The options on Piper Street range from kid-friendly to critically acclaimed. From awarded restaurants to inner city style cafes, produce stores and cooking school, Piper Street has got you covered. Make a weekend of visiting Kyneton with a range of accommodation options. From boutique hotels, restored cottages or grand homes, settle in and indulge in your choice of day spa or try out an art class or cooking class. So what are you waiting for? Piper Street is an easy hour’s drive from Melbourne. It’s the perfect halfway stop off on a drive to Bendigo, or detour on the way to Daylesford. But between you and me, once you’ve visited Piper Street, you might not get to the original destination. Find out more > piperstreet.com.au # piperstkyneton

GRAPE EXPECTATIONS The Macedon Ranges has the coolest grape-growing climate of any wine region on the Australian mainland, and is home to more than 40 vineyards. This fertile landscape and cool climate produces award winning Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, Shiraz and sparkling Blanc de Noir. We don’t have big businesses dominating our wine industry, just wineries & vineyards owned and operated almost exclusively as small family concerns. Chances are it will be the winemaker pouring your tasting at the cellar door.

Highly recommended: Granite Hills Wines, (Baynton);

Mount Towrong Winery, (Mt Macedon);

Hanging Rock Winery, (Newham);

Cleveland Estate Winery, (Lancefield); Curly Flat Vineyard, (Lancefield)

ARE YOU A LOVER OF GOOD FOOD? In the rolling hills and valleys of the Macedon Ranges you’ll find some of Victoria’s best food. Every weekend in the Macedon Ranges you’ll find a market showcasing the very best local produce just waiting to be discovered. Highly recommended: Baringo (New Gisborne); Source Dining (Kyneton); La Bonta (Kyneton); Colenso (Woodend); Motobean (Malmsbury); Verdure Bistro (Romsey); Piper Street Food Co. (Kyneton)
