Chaos to Form Movement in a Field Intro 1

Movement in a Field

The passage from chaos to form was inspired by the reading given to us, “I Send You This Cadmium Red. The first model (on the second row) had a repetition of linear elements that translated into the next larger scale model. In the second model, one side would overlay the repetition to create a formed look. Underneath the form, seen wen the model is flipped over, the repetitive and continuous overlaying of linear elements creates multiple spaces. The next part of the project, shown in the top left photo, required adding a datum that would be the connection between the two studios set in our site.

The Passage from Chaos to Form

The model is only a segment of the entire plan. Told to focus on a portion of our site, I decided to focus on one studio that took place at a higher altitude than the other. The movemet of the datum carrieds over the “chaotic side of the model that was ispired from the previous one. As a part of pleasing our client. I took the actual character’s personality into consideration when choosing the position of his studio. For a more chaotic mind.

Berger’s Space

In addition to the previous project, we focused on one office from the model and expanded it. Choosing Berger’s studio to emphasize, the model still contains the repetition of the linear elements but has more mas and solid planes. Inspired by the character’s personalities and chose the more pragmatic , less scatter-brained, Berger. His office (pictured to the right) sits embedded in the middle of the model while the other one is logically more exposed to the sky.

Bound Space Le Petit Cabanon Intro II

Section and Introspection: Analysis of a Bound Space

Throuought the exploration of three cabins, a passage from enclosure to exposure begins to reveal itself. Heavy masses and enclosed spaces unravel and expose the inner techtonics providing movement and apertures for light.

Le Petit Cabanon:

Speculations on Language, Measure and Kinetic Space Two cabins embedded into the site model provide vernacularism for each other, creating a connection between the two. The sliding mass can either allow or interrupt the passage of light that causes the connection by the way the light strikes one of the embedded cabins. When the light strikes both reflecting areas, this moment causes one person to wonder towards the void below while the other receives the light from above.

Waterwall of an Intimate Passage Intro !!

Les

Bains Des Docks and Ocean Baths

Inspired by the chaotic paths seen in the arial views of the studied sites, passages for water were formed. In the first model, the plexy increases in space as it falls underneath the busy masses., creating more room for heaveness. The second model, an intimate passage allows the space to fall into the vastness, like the depths of the ocean and under the heavyness of the mass in one corner of the model.

Waterwall of an Intimate Passage

The final model combines the paths and compact spaces from the studied pools. Inspired by the heat of the thermal baths, the passage begins at the bottom and moves upwards by heated pressure through intimate paths (inspired by the ocean swimming pool plan). It approaches a 3-degree angle on the top before falling down a series of edges to begin the passage again.

Techtonic Umbrella Light Garden Intro II

Plenum

By first working to carve into a mass, we can behind to reveal tectonics, or the structures that give strength to the masses, and create a connection between the tectonic umbrella and the rest of the mass. This project unwraps to reveal the tectonics and the wide void that falls through the center of the model. This void is better seen through the section and plans to the right.

Light Garden

The three types of light (tenebristic, chromatic and chiascuro) have been successfully created when the model experiences sunlight. The sun causes direct striking from the frosted plexy on top, a diffused lighting falling into the void, and chromatic effects in various places. The corner made of plexy begins to crumble and expose the void that falls through the center of the model as it unwraps off of the more enclosed surface.

Infinite Scheming

This final image created in Rhino software derived from differing city plans designed in AutoCAD. After learning about the tools and strategies provided in Rhino, a compilation of 3D objects, bending plans, an infinity enveloping the center of the model and symmetry throughout the combined plans, an infinite utopian city scheme has been created.
