NORTH CENTRAL TEXAS COLLEGE CHANCELLOR’S REPORT

To say that the last year has been a whirlwind of activity would be the understatement of the century. North Central Texas College is coming up on our 100th anniversary as the oldest continuously publicly funded two-year college in the state and we have seen a lot of changes through those years, some good, some, well…not so great!

But this has been one of those years of greatness. This was the year of what we have begun to call the “COVID class,” those students which graduated high school at the rise of the pandemic. Many of these students did not experience the traditional season of celebration. They were the class in which proms where cancelled, parties were delayed and graduation was masked while family sat in cars watching from afar. Yet, they graduated this year with all the pomp and circumstance. This is only because of the hard work of our staff and faculty.

In addition, the State of Texas has shifted the entire funding formula for Community Colleges and due to our impressive work at NCTC, we stand to see an major influx of further state funding due to our focus not on just “body count” but on students completing their courses of study. We are finally being funded for doing the right work.

As you read this report, take pride in your community college, and if you are not already involved, join us in our mission as we dedicate every day to the success of our students.

Sincerely,
