November 4, 2023 | 12–6 p.m. La Procesión 5:30-6:30 p.m.
COMMUNITY ALTAR EXHIBIT Webster Auditorium Curated by Ulrike Figueroa Vilchis, the Altar builds upon the theme of La Catrina, an iconic figure, who gained her distinct look in Diego Rivera’s 1947 painting “Sueño de una tarde dominical en la Alameda Central”. Experience a central altar showcasing 25 rebozos. At the altar’s pinnacle, a grand papier-mâché bust resembling Posada’s original La Catrina takes center stage, surrounded by 49 intricately crafted papier-mâché figures by internationally renowned artists Oscar Becerra Mora and Rubén “Mica” Castillo Navarrete from Mexico City.
