Hello everyone and welcome back to the Domain for another season of Matamata Swifts football. The colour of the surface out there today tells you all you need to know about the sort of summer we’ve had in this part of the world. It’s been decent. But now it’s time to get down to business. It’s great to welcome our old friends from Taupo for what is probably the marquee fixture of the opening round of The Soccer Shop WaiBOP Premiership season. A match again the champs first up will be a great test of where we’re at so early in 2019. Both club’s reserve sides will be pleased at the makeup of their league. A return to a full deck of twelve teams means they have a proper Championship season to look forward to. I’d like to welcome our sponsors and fans back to the club for another season. We always have good support from the sidelines on match day, as well as superb support by way of financial and in-kind sponsorship. This is all hugely appreciated by everyone at the club. What am I looking forward to most in 2019? As a fan, it will hopefully be watching all our players enjoying themselves on the field. You’re a long time retired guys and girls, so keep having fun for as long as you can. As a junior coach it will be continuing to work with my, now 10th Grade, Panthers. I went through the first part of the NZF Junior Level 3 Coaching Award earlier in the month and the one thing that stood out was how little I knew... This season promises to be an interesting one for us all. Even though I’ll have multiple kids in tow today, I’ll still do my best to see you on the sidelines this arvo. Dwayne Barlow, Club Mouthpiece

Junior Opportunity - Shirt Sponsorship Investment: $500 + GST. We have full sets of shirts, in the club’s new Nike style, on order now for ALL our junior 8th to 12th grade teams. We expect them to be available and in use by mid-June. With this comes a unique opportunity to get the logo of your business, or the business you work for, placed on the front of the shirts of your child’s team. This is a one-off investment that lasts for the life of the shirts (usually 3-4 seasons). All funds raised through this scheme will be re-invested in the club’s junior programme. It all kicks off now! Clubs in The Soccer Shop Premiership look like they’re in for another competitive season. Champions Taupo will head into the season among the favourites, while Waikato Unicol who, over recent seasons, have made no secret of their ambions to gain promotion to the NRFL, will be expected to push the Lakesiders all the way. Among the other sides to look out for are 2018 runners-up, Flying Mullet Papamoa, Otumoetai FC, who have looked strong during pre-season, and newly promoted Ngaruawahia United, a side on the way back after a difficult couple of years. The Soccer Shop Championship returns to a full ledger of 12 teams, containing six Premiership reserve teams, four NRFL club third teams, plus Otorohanga and Tokoroa. In other news, WaiBOP Football and The Soccer Shop are proud to announce a new partnership covering supply and sponsorship. The two year deal will see The Soccer Shop have naming rights to the Men’s WaiBOP Premiership and Championship leagues, the Women’s W-League, Futsal leagues and the men’s and women’s Waikato Cup. WaiBOP Football’s CEO, Karyn Walters, is pleased to continue the relationship between the two organisations. “The Soccer Shop has been one of the Federation’s partners for a while now and I’m delighted our association will continue into the future,” said Walters. “We’ve always appreciated the service, support and quality equipment provided by the team at The Soccer Shop. They are great supporters of WaiBOP but, just as important
to me, they are based within our region and work alongside a number of our clubs.” The Soccer Shop will continue to provide an online platform for WaiBOP members to view and purchase apparel and merchandise as well as exclusive promotions and deals. This, coupled with their current retail store in Hamilton and the soon to open Bayfair store in Tauranga, will see a physical presence across the region where members can click and collect or view and try on product in person. Martyn and Debbie Niziolek, Directors of The Soccer Shop, are excited to announce the new agreement. “We are proud to continue the long standing relationship between The Soccer Shop and WaiBOP Football, which dates back a number of years,” said Martyn. “WaiBOP does a great job of developing players and delivering quality coaching in the region and our aim is to work together to provide the tools and equipment necessary to help this continue. “We’re all about football and delivering quality products and service to the football community, so having a strong partnership with WaiBOP makes perfect sense. It gives us a direct connection and involvement at a professional and grass roots level, as well as delivering a one stop shop for all of WaiBOP’s football needs. “We look forward to continuing and developing our partnership over the coming months with exciting times ahead.” From www.waibopfootball.co.nz.
