Hello everyone and welcome back to the Domain. What is it they say about London buses? You don’t see one for ages then they all come along at once (or something like that). Well, it seems to be the same with football here in Matamata. Nothing since August 2019...and now two full weekends in two weeks. Last weekend here couldn’t really have gone any better, with both Comag Matamata Swifts and Challenge Matamata Swifts Ladies picking up opening day wins at the Domain. Our Premiership win over Otumoetai was something else, especially so given the lead-up and our very genuine fears we may not even be able to get a team to start the season. A lot of work was done by a lot of people to get us to the start line...then to beat one of the league’s favoured teams with the type of performance we put in just iced the cake for us all. And, in what can only be described as something of a ‘Back to the Future’ moment, we came out of the weekend with new coaching staff. Welcome home to Duncan and Gary - I’m sure the next few weeks and months will be nothing if not eventful for all of us. Sunday saw the Swifts Ladies continue their fine recent run against Tokoroa to record a 3-2 win to get their Waikato Division 1 campaign underway. It had been an especially busy week or so for Rob in the build up to the game so it was great the team could reward his efforts for our club with an excellent performance and three crucial points. So that’s week one under the belt...only fifteen more to go. Bring them on. Enjoy the games this weekend. I’ll see you on the sidelines. Dwayne Barlow, Club Mouthpiece

Junior Opportunity - Shirt Sponsorship Investment: $500 + GST. We have full sets of shirts, in the club’s new Nike style, on order now for ALL our junior 8th to 12th grade teams. We expect them to be available and in use by mid-June. With this comes a unique opportunity to get the logo of your business, or the business you work for, placed on the front of the shirts of your child’s team. This is a one-off investment that lasts for the life of the shirts (usually 3-4 seasons). All funds raised through this scheme will be re-invested in the club’s junior programme.
