Hello everyone and welcome back to the Domain for what is our first full weekend of games in a while. Welcome to Otorohanga, the WaiBOP Premiership’s new boys who have made a superb start to life back in this league. It’s great to see clubs from rural communities doing well. We also host two teams from Claudelands Rovers this weekend. The Wallys play our Waharoa Transport Reserves in the early game today, while Challenge Matamata Ladies host Rovers’ Women’s Division 1 team tomorrow. For our ladies it’s their first home game in almost a month. They’ve had some excellent results on the road, but there’s no place like home and local fans will appreciate being able to come down on Sunday and show them support. The Matamata Piako District Council is working on the Long Term Plan for our district and already have some plans underway to help Matamata-Piako become ‘the place of choice – lifestyle, opportunities, home’ but they want to hear our ideas too. We have submitted a project idea that includes turfing the training area at the Domain. You can find out more on the club’s website. We now need your support in voting for this idea. We think it will make a big difference to our community but we need the council to see this too. They will review all the ideas, and complete a business case on at least the top three ideas. If our idea gets the most votes, we’ll get to discuss it with the Mayor. And hopefully progress it from there. Your vote needs to be in by 7 August. Just think how cool it would be to have a turf in our town. I’m sure all our players would appreciate the prospect of less training-related injuries too... Enjoy the games this weekend. I’ll see you on the sidelines.

Junior Opportunity - Shirt Sponsorship Investment: $500 + GST. We have full sets of shirts, in the club’s new Nike style, on order now for ALL our junior 8th to 12th grade teams. We expect them to be available and in use by mid-June. With this comes a unique opportunity to get the logo of your business, or the business you work for, placed on the front of the shirts of your child’s team. This is a one-off investment that lasts for the life of the shirts (usually 3-4 seasons). All funds raised through this scheme will be re-invested in the club’s junior programme.
