Waikato Stud Matamata Swifts v Ngongotaha WaiBOP Premiership - 2.45pm
Richardson Racing Stables Swifts Reserves v Ngongotaha Reserves WaiBOP Championship - 12.30pm Matamata Domain | Saturday August 1, 2015
A Few Kind Words Welcome to the Domain for another WaiBOP Premiership and Championship double header. Hopefully the weather is a bit kinder today than it was a fortnight ago. Back then, we managed to get both games played but were left with a surface that was in pretty bad 2015 shape. Thankfully we were able to get the roller in and it’s Management now looking okay. But more rain would not be helpful. Committee Our visitors, Ngongotaha, are flying at the moment. Their Premiership win at Cambridge two weeks ago Patron shook up the title race, making things very interesting Jack Poole as we enter the business end of the season. We wish the Villagers well as they continue their hunt. But... we’ll President be doing all we can to get something from today’s game Julie Clothier because we need the points too. Vice-President Last week’s visit to Old Blues was, er, something of a Malcolm Raynel challenge. To say things didn’t exactly go our way would Treasurer be an understatement. I was shattered watching the Dave Mann players try to play a game of football on that surface and Secretary can only imagine how they felt. We had our opportunities Debbie Sankey to win the game so we just have to keep going, scrap for everything and grind out some results. Simple really! Club Captain The reserves continue to improve and gave West Ronan Costello Hamilton a real fright last weekend. We’ve got a lot of Committee young players involved in our senior teams this year, Pete Challis particularly with the reserves, and it’s pleasing to watch Ana Paterson the development in their games’ that we’ve seen over the Junior Convenor course of the season. Cathy O’Callaghan Speaking of young players, we’ll be starting our Club Development Mgr preparations for the U-19 Youth Championships very Dwayne Barlow soon. Offering this opportunity to our young players is an important part of our youth development plan. I’m confident we’ll be able to put in a good showing this year as we’ll be taking a squad that all have at least one full season of senior football under their belts. Dwayne Barlow, Club Development Manager PICTURED Front Cover Jamie Baxter made his 100th 1st team appearance at Old Blues last Saturday. Page 3 Rebecca Stewart takes on Cambridge last Sunday.

FROM THE SWIFTS ARCHIVE A LOT HAS GONE ON DURING OUR 85 YEARS. HERE’S A QUICK LOOK BACK IN TIME...
This week we head back to 1995 and our Northern League clash with Pukekohe. There were a few famous Swifts names involved in this match. How to fix a battered football pitch? Simple.
