Waikato Stud Matamata Swifts v Papamoa WaiBOP Premiership - 2.45pm

Richardson Racing Stables Swifts Reserves v Te Awamutu WaiBOP Championship - 12.30pm Matamata Domain | Saturday July 11, 2015

A Few Kind Words Welcome back to the Domain for today’s WaiBOP Premiership and Championship double-header. For one reason or another, we haven’t had too many of these yet this season, but that will change over the second half of the season. 2015 Our two visitors today have vastly different relationships Management with us. This is the first competitive match we’ll play Committee against Papamoa at the Domain, and only the second ever after the 1-1 draw over the hill earlier in the season. Patron By contrast, our rivalry with Te Awamutu goes back many, Jack Poole many years, since before both clubs were battling it out in the Northern League throughout the 1980s and ‘90s. President I know it’s a cliché (and I hate clichés but I’m a bit Julie Clothier pressed for time...) but it’s important both our sides make Vice-President the most of home advantage. The Swifts have only played Malcolm Raynel four league games at home so far, and the reserves one Treasurer less, so if the teams can take advantage of playing here Dave Mann we should see our results improve followed by some Secretary positive movement up the standings. They’re competitive Debbie Sankey leagues, though, so we have to make sure we come out to play every week. Club Captain As Swifts, there’s a certain level of performance we Ronan Costello should expect from each other, be it player, coach, Committee administrator or supporter. Our club values - we play Pete Challis hard; we play smart; we play together - guide our actions Ana Paterson and decision making. Basically, if we put in a strong Junior Convenor and consistent effort, are well organised, prepared and Cathy O’Callaghan looking for ways to get better, and work as a team, then Club Development Mgr we’ll be okay. The management committee expects this Dwayne Barlow of our coaches. The coaches should expect this of their players and vice versa. Our supporters and sponsors will Matamata Swifts AFC be expecting this of all of us. 1930-2015 As a Swifts fan I’m hoping for valuable performances Turning 85 this year! from both our teams today. Dwayne Barlow, Club Development Manager PICTURED Front Cover Jamie Baxter at Cambridge two weeks ago. Page 3 Nathan Quinn, from our 8th Grade Magpies, takes on Cambridge.
