“From pit-run scalping to top soil applications the ST2.4 is a versatile production tool,” Garth Taylor.
Need a Superior Mobile Screening Solution? MIMICO is the New Zealand distributor of Metso mobile screening equipment and we have the answer. MIMICO’s range of Metso mobile screens will help you increase your productivity and profits. Metso’s ST 2.4 mobile scalping screen combines high capacity with clean, accurate end products from all feed materials. Garth Taylor, MIMICO’s Crushing and Screening Business Manager, says the ST2.4 is ideally suited to tough screening applications. “From pit-run scalping to top soil applications the ST2.4 is a versatile production tool. “The ST2.4 offers the lowest cost per ton produced in the size class through improved fuel economy, high capacity and low operating costs. “It also sets a new standard in terms of set-up time. All that is required to transform the screen from transport to operating position
is to unfold the conveyors, set the screen angle and raise the feeder up hydraulically.” Metso’s ST3.5 mobile finish screen is designed with compact dimensions, high capacity and quality components. “The standard ST3.5 two-deck Lokotrack is capable of producing two-sized fractions and, depending on the application, an optional twodeck vibrating grid can be installed to get three fraction sizes,” explains Taylor. The high capacity two-bearing two-deck screen box of the ST3.5 is equipped with interchangeable
screen meshes which minimise customer stock holding costs. The Lokotrack ST3.5 is designed to achieve the lowest sustainable cost per ton and it has unmatched efficiency and capacity in its size class. “Features such as an hydraulic feed hopper tipping grid, adjustable screen angle and high efficiency screen box make the ST3.5 ideal for finish screening tasks. Screening sealing chip, concrete aggregates, sand, compost and top soil are ideal applications for the ST3.5 mobile screen.”

During the event we ran a colouring/drawing competition for the kids with some awesome prizes on offer. Congratulations to the winners: Demarius Pulman (10), who won a PS4, and Paige Maitland (4), won an Apple iPad Air 2. Our world class brands were on display at THE Expo.
NEW 30 Tonne Kobelco Exemplifies Efficiency A new 30-tonne excavator has entered the Australasian market as Kobelco Construction Machinery Australia released its SK300LC-10, answering calls from industry for a reliable and efficient heavy excavator in this class. Kobelco General Manager - Sales & Service Doug McQuinn says the new model, part of the latest Generation 10 range, hits the sweet spot for those wanting something big, but not too big. “Kobelco machines are engineered for maximum capacity at maximum
efficiency, and the SK300LC-10 is no different,” Doug says. “With the launch of this model we’re addressing what the industry asked for – a tough, reliable, performance-driven 30 tonne machine. That’s what we’re delivering. “As you would expect from Kobelco, this new generation boasts class-leading fuel economy and excellent work performance.” The SK300LC-10 is the latest model to be released as part of the Kobelco Generation 10 series, which had a staggered release in Australia and New Zealand beginning in 2016. “The Generation 10 machines are serious diggers, but innovative engineering means they use up to 10 per cent less fuel compared to their predecessors,” says MIMICO’s General Manager, Chris Gray. “This dramatically lowers fuel costs while
still producing significant power.” The new Kobelco Arm Interflow System is a key contributor to the Generation 10 machines’ improved efficiency. A hydraulic regenerative system, it enables the boom’s weight to force hydraulic fluid to the shovel arm. As the need for fluid to be forced from the pump is reduced, less engine and hydraulic workload means lower fuel consumption. Ease and speed of serviceability are also key features of these excavators. “The SK300LC-10 features the revised upper deck layout that is across all the Kobelco Generation 10 excavators, allowing easy access to the engine compartment. There’s a new compact and easily replaceable canister-type hydraulic oil return filter, and a new reinforced aircleaner element,” Chris explains. “These machines are designed to keep time off job-sites to a minimum while maximising the value of the machine back to business. “The impressive specifications and features of the SK300LC-10, Japanese technology and customerled feedback have successfully come together to provide customers with resilient excavators offering reliability, operator comfort, low cost and high work efficiency.” New Kobelco SK300LC-10 excavators arrive in New Zealand in April 2017.
COMBINING CONSTRUCTION WITH CONSERVATION Isaac Construction’s McLean’s Island quarry has won the Gold Award at QuarryNZ’s 2016 MIMICO Environmental Excellence Awards and also the Environmental Project of the Year at the Australian Bulk Handling Awards. The massive effort being deployed to restore Christchurch’s infrastructure has created a need for a huge amount of resources. This unprecedented demand has continued to grow, challenging local building companies and construction material suppliers to step up their production. Isaac Construction has been a long standing supplier of construction materials to the Christchurch region for many years. Much of the company’s quarry product is consumed in concrete and asphaltic concrete production. Isaac Construction is one of the companies that took on the challenge of meeting this everincreasing demand, to help rebuild Christchurch. Initially the company achieved additional volume through a lot of hard work, driving its production staff and existing equipment to their limits. However, it soon became apparent that the need to expand the company’s production facilities was inevitable to ensure its

ability to reliably meet demand over time. Construction and conservation Established by the Isaac’s family in 1957, Isaac Construction’s McLean’s Island quarry is one of the oldest established quarries in Christchurch. The quarry converts its raw material feed of incredibly hard, ancient river gravel into coarse natural concrete aggregate, blended sand (natural and Barmac dust), sealing chip for roads and aggregates for asphaltic concrete. Located 18 km from the centre of Christchurch, the quarry is ideally placed to efficiently supply its products for the city’s reconstruction. Caring for the interests of the community and environment has long been part of Isaac
Construction’s business approach. The company’s slogan “Combining Construction with Conservation” is proudly demonstrated through the work of The Isaac Conservation and Wildlife Trust which was established by Sir Neil and Lady Diana Isaac in 1977. The trust focuses on three areas; flora, fauna and historic building conservation. In addition to the conservation of rare plant species, its captive breeding program rears for release a wide variety of NZ’s most endangered birds and reptiles. An important source of funding for these visionary conservation projects comes from the profits made in the quarrying business. Read the full article at mimico.co.nz
