WaiBOP Football v NZF Development
1.30pm, Sunday November 15, 2015. Gower Park, Hamilton
Welcome to our Visitors WaiBOP Football welcomes the NZF Development players and staff to Gower Park, Hamilton, for today’s ASB Women’s League fixture. This match has real play-off ramifica ons, with the winner going a long way to securing their spot. Our
stated aim is to make the post-season and to do so we know we must pick up the three points today. Our visitors will be wan ng exactly the same outcome, so we expect another thriller. Thank you to all today’s volunteers. We hope everyone enjoys the match.
ASB Women’s League Rd 5 The top two in the ASB Women’s League kicked clear of the chasing pack on Sunday with contras ng wins for Northern Football and Mainland Pride in round five ac on around the country. League-leading Northern Football were 2-0 victors over local rivals Auckland Football in the Ba le of the Bridge. Paul Greig’s side scored in each half to maintain their perfect five-fromfive record this season. Ka e Rood opened the scoring from the penalty spot in the 14th minute. Northern added an insurance goal to Aimee Phillips in the 73rd minute when the Northern striker bundled home from close range. The result li s Northern to 15 points, two clear of Mainland Pride who recorded an astounding 6-5 win over WaiBOP Football in Hamilton. In a game featuring six lead changes, the hosts appeared set for an excellent victory when Paige Satchell struck in the 79th minute to put WaiBOP 5-4 ahead. But the visitors had other ideas and a Monique Barker double inside the final minutes turned the game on its head once more.
WaiBOP coach Juan Propato said his group did all they could to earn the important result but couldn’t quite finish it off. “We’re gu ed because I think we played with a lot of passion and determina on to win. To come away with nothing is tough to take. “With six minutes to go we had a chance to win it and make it 6-4 and put it away but we didn’t. I’m really proud of the players, they gave everything.” Elsewhere, the NZF Development side earned their third straight win, a 4-2 victory over Capital Football seeing Gareth Turnbull’s young side move into third place. First half goals to Jacqui Hand, Samantha Tawharu and Hannah Blake had the NZ Development team 3-0 ahead at the split and an early second half penalty to Michaela Foster made it a 4-0 buffer. In Sunday’s other match, Central Football got their first win of the season with a 2-0 victory over Football South at Memorial Park in Palmerston North. First half goals to Imogen Bos and Jane Barne ensured the hosts would move off the bo om of the table.

We love goals as much as you do.
Achieving them are successes to be celebrated. And because football is all about goals (and savings too of course) we’re proud to support it at every level. New Zealand Football, Succeed on.
