In an endeavour to connect the youth in need of skills to probable donors, the donation portal of volunteering initiative 'Freedom with Five' was launched by Fr. A. M. Joseph (Executive Director, DB Tech) at DB Tech (National Office, Delhi) on October 23, 2015. In his address, he said, “Right now there are a lot of people, who want to help, want to give back and also to involve with the cause 'Skilling India', this web portal will work as an interface to actualize their passion for the cause.” This is a one-stop online donation portal that aims to help raise funds for the skill development of financially disadvantaged youngsters, which will give them second chance to prove their mettle. The website aims to ease the process of sparing time or money for the skill training through its various means to involve with Don Bosco Tech. Starting from registration to completion of donation, every step is developed keeping the needs for executing the skill development programs and donor's interest in mind. This user-friendly platform provides a secure way to contribute and to track the contribution history. Communication with the potential donors is very vital. With enrollment in Freedom with Five web portal, the donor will be informed about several unique ways to connect with the youth and also gets an online assistance thorough chat or screen sharing with the technical team related to the various steps of making a contribution. With this web portal, we acknowledge each contributor as they arrive or depart from the portal through an automatically delivered push notification. Likeminded individuals, business houses or groups wanting to donate time or money, can browse www.donation.dbtech.in to view volunteering opportunities. All donations are exempt from tax under Section 80G of the Income Tax Act. Don Bosco Tech relies on the generosity and sensitivity of people like you to make a difference. Skill training enhances employability and creates job opportunities. says Shri Ramesh Chennithala (Hon'ble Home Minister, Govt. of Kerala) October 1, 2015 was the celebration day for DB Tech (Kerala) because officially, Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Grameen Kaushalya Yojana (DDU-GKY) program was initiated at DB Tech (Mampetta, Kerala). Hon'ble Home Minister of Kerala Governemnt, Shri Ramesh Chennithala, officially inaugurated DDU-GKY program in the Mampetta centre in presence of Mr. Muhammed Basheer T. P. (Coordinator, Kudumbashree District Mission), Shri. C. Moyinkutty (MLA, Thiruvambadi Constiuency), Mr. Jenson M. Joy (District Consultant, DDUGKY), Fr. A. M. Joseph (Executive Director, DB Tech), Fr. Giby Jose (Principal, Don Bosco College) and Fr. Shibu Davis (Rector, Don Bosco, Mampetta). In his inaugural speech, Shri. Ramesh Chennithala said, “Skill training enhances employability and creates job opportunities for the youth of Kerala.” He expressed his pleasure with the opening of the skill training centre at Mampetta with an objective to support and mould the life of underprivileged youth of Kerala. He also urged the youth to make good use of this opportunity. Suraj Kumar Sori is a 20-year old tribal boy from a small village surrounded by highly dense forest in extreme left wing affected district of Chhattisgarh. Born in the family with five members, life was not easy as everyday was a struggle to live their life. His father, Sri Narad Ram is a farmer and the only earning member in the family while his mother, Ramula Bai is a house wife. Lack of opportunities made Suraj to sit idle at home with no future until one fine day when his friend told him about DB Tech's short training program at Pakhanjore (Chhattisgarh). When Suraj came to the DB Tech training center at Pakhanjore, he was a shy natured boy. Suraj was counseled by team of trainers and advised him to enroll in Automobile Repair domain under the project of Hans Foundation. Being of shy nature, he initially had a tough time in grasping effectively the lessons taught by his trainers. But together they conquered all challenges by attending soft skills classes conducted during the training. Finally, Suraj completed the training in flying colours with a good record. A few days after completing his Automobile Repair course, Suraj attended a job interview. He received a job offer as a Technical Helper in Neolight Pvt. Ltd in Bahadurgarh (Haryana). He cheerfully accepted the modest starting salary of Rs 8000 per month, and went to his work with great zeal and commitment. His Manager, Mr Sandeep tells, “Suraj is one of the dedicated and hardworking employees in his organization.” “I am really grateful to my trainers for believing in me and enlightening self-belief in me,” says Suraj, thanking his trainers at DB Tech (Pakhanjore) for what he is today. He continues, “After getting this job now I can help my family.” He also wants to continue his studies in distance education. Mohit (Trainer, Automobile Repair) says, “I am proud to train a shy natured boy to a responsible earning member of the family.” Suraj's achievement has inspired many unemployed youth from his village who now wants to take training in DB Tech. “I am impressed that DB Tech has turned my child to a responsible person towards the family; and he is supporting me for fulfilling the family needs,” says his father Sri Narad Ram.

Joseph (Executive Director, DB Tech) in his inaugural speech at 3-day workshop at Don Bosco Skill Mission (Bangalore). Communications Team of Don Bosco Tech had organized this workshop on 'Communications in Skill Development Sector' for communication correspondents from across India on October 12 - 14, 2015. The objective of this workshop is to train the communication correspondents to write and produce quality reports of case study, events, features, stories, press releases, etc, with good quality of photographs. Fr. Boby John was the resource person for the workshop. Fr. John was former HoD of Journalism and Mass Communication Department in Don Bosco Arts and Science College, Angadikadavu (Kerala). Now he is pursuing his PhD in Journalism. The workshop started with an inaugural ceremony where Fr. A. M. Joseph, Fr. Raju Philip, Fr. Arul Maran Fr. Boby John, Ms. Jharna Gurung and Mr. John Daniel were present to inaugurate the workshop by lighting the lamp and followed by a beautiful welcome song by students from DBSM. During these three days, correspondents had attended series of lectures, presentations and participated in variety of exercises that helped them to apply

their knowledge in a better and upgraded way as well as sharpen their skills. The major take-aways in the workshop were writing an error-free report, developing a feature or success story, basics of photography, interview techniques, event management, organizing press conference and writing press releases. Br. Binny delivered an eye opening lecture and presentation on photography. Ms. Jharna and Mr. John also presented on the functions of Communications department. They showed various kinds of flyers, annual reports, directory, etc which was developed, designed and produced in DB Tech for branding and marketing. In the valedictory function, Fr. Arul Maran presented a memento to Fr. Boby John followed by distribution of certificates to all the correspondents who attended the workshop. Regarding the workshop, Deepak Rawat (Uttarakhand Correspondent) says, “Communication workshop was very useful for me and it has enhanced not only my writing skills but also learned to communicate effectively.”

Electrical exhibition by the Electrical trainees of DB Tech (Hijuguri, Assam) Electrical exhibition was organised by the Electrical domain trainees enrolled under the project of Ministry of Minority Affairs (MoMA) at DB Tech (Hijuguri) on October 26, 2015. The objective of this exhibition is to develop the practical knowledge of the trainees in the Electrical domain. “The exhibition is held to learn more about the domain, to showcase their talent and to improve the personality and confidence while explaining about the project to the visitors,” says Mr. Balerius Kerketta (Trainer, DB Tech, Hijuguri). The trainees were divided into three groups with different challenges where they had to resolve the issues with regards to electricity, different way of wiring and distributing power, changing alternate current (AC) to direct current (DC), etc. The groups were mentored by Mr. Balerius Kerketta.

Fr. Hilarius Ekka (Rector) and Fr. Roy Mathew (Centre Head, DB Tech, Hijuguri) were the honorable visitors at the exhibition. “I am very glad with the initiatives of the trainers for conducting this productive and knowledgeable exhibition for trainees. I am confident that this experience will help our trainees in the long run at their workplace,” says Fr. Hilarius Ekka. After the exhibition, Fr. Roy Mathew says, “Our trainees were very dedicated to their training programme and this exhibition itself reflect the quality of DB Tech skill training.” One of the trainees, Rajesh Urang says, “I am very grateful to my trainer and DB Tech for organizing this exhibition which has not only enhanced my practical knowledge in this sector but also has helped me to boost my confidence.” At the end of the programme, Mr. Balerius Kerketta shared some beneficial tips to the trainees to improve their work and thanked them for participating in the exhibition with enthusiasm and fervor.
