The
CEREMONY Greeting
Readings
Officiant: Welcome, family, friends and loved ones. We gather here today to celebrate the wedding of Amanda and Dan. You have come here to share in this formal commitment they make to one another, to offer your love and support to this union, and to allow Amanda and Dan to start their married life together surrounded by the people dearest and most important to them.
Officiant: In the spirit of the importance of strong friendships to a marriage, Amanda and Dan have asked Jennifer Cantada, Daniel's sister Amy Henry, Amanda’s Godmother, and Melissa Cantada, Dan’s sister-in-law to read selections about love that especially resonate with them. 1st Reading- Jennifer Cantada, Extract Letter from a Poet
So welcome to one and all, who have traveled from near and far. Amanda and Dan thank you for your presence here today, and now ask for your blessing, encouragement, and lifelong support, for their decision to be married. Definition of Marriage Officiant: Marriage is perhaps the greatest and most challenging adventure of human relationships. No ceremony can create your marriage; only you can do that – through love and patience; through dedication and perseverance; through talking and listening, helping and supporting and believing in each other; through tenderness and laughter; through learning to forgive, learning to appreciate your differences, and by learning to make the important things matter, and to let go of the rest. What this ceremony can do is to witness and affirm the choice you make to stand together as lifemates and partners.
2nd Reading- Melissa Cantada, selection from The Velveteen Rabbit Preface: “The following reading is in honor of all those loved ones who are no longer with us today, including Patricia Decker, Amanda’s grandmother, who first read The Velveteen Rabbit to her, the book from which comes the following reading.” 3rd Reading- Amy Henry, Untitled Declaration of Intent Officiant: Will you, Dan, take this woman to be your wedded wife? Dan: I will Officiant: Will you, Amanda, take this man to be your wedded husband? Amanda: I will

"Someday when we're dreaming deep in love, not a lot to say, then we'll remember things we said today." –t he Be at le s
Support of Community Officiant: Two people in love do not live in isolation. Their love is a source of strength with which they may nourish not only each other but also the world around them. And in turn, we, their community of friends and family, have a responsibility to this couple. By our steadfast care, respect, and love, we can support their marriage and the new family they are creating today. Will everyone please rise. Officiant: Wi l l y o u wh o are p resent h ere t o d ay, surround Amanda and Dan in love, offering them the joys of your friendship, and supporting them in their marriage? All: We will Officiant: You may be seated. Exchange of Vows Officiant: We've come to the point of your ceremony where you're going to say your vows to one another. But before you do that, I ask you to remember that love – which is rooted in faith, trust, and acceptance - will be the foundation of an abiding and deepening relationship. No other ties are more tender, no other vows more sacred than those you now assume. If you are able to keep the vows you take here today, not because of any religious or civic law, but out of a desire to love and be loved by
another person fully, without limitation, then your life will have joy and the home you establish will be a place in which you both will find the direction of your growth, your freedom, and your responsibility. Please now read the vows you have prepared for each other. Amanda: I Amanda, take you, Dan to be my husband, my constant friend and partner, and my love. (Amanda’s vows) Dan: I Dan, take you, Amanda to be my wife, my constant friend and partner, and my love. (Dan’s vows) Ring Ceremony Officiant: May I have the rings, please? To Dan: Please repeat after me, Dan. “I give you this ring, as a daily reminder of my love for you.” Dan: I give you this ring, as a daily reminder of my love for you. (Puts ring on Amanda’s finger). To Amanda: Amanda please repeat after me. “I give you this ring, as a daily reminder of my love for you.” Amanda: I give you this ring, as a daily reminder of my love for you. (Puts ring on Dan’s finger). Pronouncement of Marriage Officiant: By the power of your love and commitment, and the power vested in me, I now pronounce you husband and wife! You may kiss each other!

Extract from Letters to a Poet For one human being to love another: that is perhaps the most difficult of all tasks, the ultimate task, the final test and proof, the work for which all other work is merely preparation. Love is at first not anything that means merging, surrendering, and uniting with another (for what purpose would a union of something unclarified serve?), rather it is high inducement to the individual to Ripen, to become something in ourselves, to become a world in ourselves for the sake of another person. Love is a great, demanding claim on us, something that chooses us and calls us to vast distances. WRITTEN B Y | R AI N ER M AR I A R I L K E READ BY | J EN N I FER C AN T AD A

Extract from THE VELVETEEN RABBIT "What is REAL?" asked the Rabbit one day, when they were lying side by side near the nursery fender, before Nana came to tidy the room. "Does it mean having things that buzz inside you and a stick-out handle?" "Real isn't how you are made," said the Skin Horse. "It's a thing that happens to you. When a child loves you for a long, long time, not just to play with, but REALLY loves you, then you become Real." "Does it hurt?" asked the Rabbit. "Sometimes," said the Skin Horse, for he was always truthful. "When you are Real you don't mind being hurt." "Does it happen all at once, like being wound up," he asked, "or bit by bit?" "It doesn't happen all at once," said the Skin Horse. "You become. It takes a long time. That's why it doesn't happen often to people who break easily, or have sharp edges, or who have to be carefully kept. Generally, by the time you are Real, most of your hair has been loved off, and your eyes drop out and you get loose in the joints and very shabby. But these things don't matter at all, because once you are Real you can't be ugly, except to people who don't understand." WRITTEN B Y | M AR G ER Y W I L L I AM S READ BY | M EL I SSA C AN T AD A

UNTITLED On such a huge day, there is so much to say. Some quote the Bible or beautiful verses by the Bard. Some dote in advice they think you should never discard. From Freud to Oprah to Dr. Phil and others I’ve even once heard the word of Dr. Joyce Brothers! But for my lovely niece and her wonderful groom Such traditional salutations just can’t fill the room. No, these two lovebirds like Buckley, Weezer and Rand. We must find something better for the Dan and Amanda Band! So without further ado, you’re in for a ride. A story of love that would not be denied… Brought to you by Dr. Seuss and The Princess Bride! ( hold up books) In the 5th grade lunch line stood Amanda, thinking of classmates tardy, mumbling, “It’s INCONCEIVABLE people still haven’t replied to my party.” Then suddenly a gentle tap touched her shoulder, She turned in an instant and when she looked over There stood a handsome little dish with his hair in a swish. He spoke in a voice that was soft, yet hearty “Hi. Dan, I am, and I’m attending your party.” “Okay” Amanda shrugged as she bought her fried fish, “I’ll see you then, I guess, around seven-ish.” The reply that came was as soft as a kiss And to this day she remembers he said, “AS YOU WISH.” INCONCEIVABLE! Years passed before these two met again, But in high school Commercial Art they became like paper to pen. In Ancient History they found they had so much in common. These two were wrapped tighter than King Tutankhamen! And it’s thought they became sweethearts when they ditched dates Continued on next page

at the prom; something you’d think would have caused quite an alarm! But no study hall whispers, no loose lips around tables No one said a word…not even Marrisa Chaples! Soon it was springtime and they were rolling in dough. But it wasn’t from any success in Commercial Art though. No they made bread deliveries and had fun that was funny, And sooner than later they called themselves, “Honey.” AS YOU WISH was his answer to her every request Until one day there rose such an ache in his chest. “Are you alright? Say something. What’s the matter, Dan? You’re wheezing like that singer from my favorite band.” “Do I love you? My God, is that what you asked? Right in the middle of a 10 hour delivery task!” “Amanda, if my love for you were like a loaf of bread, There would be a fleet of 50 trucks jam-packed with Pechter’s ahead!” INCONCEIVABLE! This is TRUE love. You think it happens every day? Maybe one couple in a century will find it The storybooks say. So finally… CONGRATULATIONS! Today is your day. Surrounded by love and familiar faces Dan and Amanda, You’re off and away! And when it comes to your life together… We rise in unison to simply say this: We hope everything, Everything, Goes just AS YOU WISH! wedding Vows
I love you, not only for what you are, but for what I am when I am with you. I love you, not only for what you have mode of yourself, but for what you are making of me. I love you for the part of me that you bring out; I love you for the putting your hand into my heaped up heart and passing over all the foolish weak things that you can't help dimly seeing there, and for drawing out into the light all the beautiful belongings that no one else had looked quite far enough to find. I love you because you are helping me to make of the lumber of my life not a tavern, not a temple, out of the works of my everyday not a reproach but a song. I love you, because you have done more then you creed could have done to make me good. A n d m o r e t h a n a n y f a t e c o u l d h a v e d o n e t o m a k e m e h a p p y. The
BEST MAN'S SPEECH G
ood Evening. My name is Noel. I have the distinct privilege and honor of speaking tonight of behalf of Amanda and Daniel on this very special occasion.
I have never seen before. It was subtle, but unmistakable. If you asked me what it was that day, I couldn't have told you. But in hindsight, it was clear as day.
Being one of Daniel's older brothers, I was able to spend a lot of time with him during these 27 years. As you can imagine, many memories have been made from this time.
Daniel had fallen in love. This marked the first day of the rest of their lives together.
I remember as a very young child, Daniel and I would spend most afternoons together devouring Chicken Holiday Chicken. Drinking and eating countless gallons of Cokes and mint chocolate chip ice cream. All this while watching episodes of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles or some random movie we have sesen so many time before, we could recite by heart. I knew Daniel was growing up, now attending elementary school. It became more real that one day I took him to the mall. You see I was always carrying Daniel everywhere we went. While walking throught the mall on this particular day, Daniel turned to me and said, "you know Noel, you don't have to carry me anymore, I can walk on my own." Somewhat shocked and a little hurt I reluctantly put Daniel down. At that moment, Daniel grabbed my hand and looked up at me and but you can still hold my hand. From then on time past quickly. Suddenly, Daniel was graduating high school, them college. He was moving out and moving on. He started his first job, then on to a career. And despite how quickly time moved forward, I always knew I had my memories. One that stands out the most, especially today, is the day I saw Amanda and Daniel together for the first time. You see, I saw something slightly different in Daniel that day. Something that
That day has brought us all here today. Amanda. we have watched you and Daniel grow up and grow together. Nothing could make us happier. Please know, we not only love you because of the person you have chosen to marry, but equally, because of the person you are. We have always considered you family. Today just makes it official. And to Daniel. More familiar, at least to me, as the "Otter." I cannot begin to tell you how proud I am of the person you have become. Other than my wife, you are quite simply the kindest person I have ever known. It is an honor to call you "brother." I wouldn't have traded our time together for anything. Because of you I smile more oftern, laugh a little harder, and care just a bit more. And for that and many other countless reasons, I would like to say thank you and I love you little brother. With that being said. Please raise you glass and toast the bride and groom. All the happiness in the world for forever and a day. Cheers. WRITTEN BY | NOEL CANTADA
