ocated directly on Fort Lauderdale beach at the intersection of Ocean Boulevard L and Oakland Park Boulevard is L’Hermitage. Built in 1998, these twin towers have become a landmark for those who take the scenic drive along the famous beach. This condominium remains today one of Fort Lauderdale’s most luxurious addresses.

Many of the residents are feeling that it’s time to refresh, and many naturally turn to Interior Designer Perla Lichi, who is a familiar presence in the building and a long-time friend. She was recently challenged to imbue new life into a 2,100 square-foot third floor unit in Building 1. This was a full “gut-out” demolition and renovation, modernizing the unit to meet the wants and needs of today’s market. And here’s the kicker—she was to have it ready to move in before the holidays.

“This was no small task,” explains Perla. “L’Hermitage, like all luxury condos, has very strict building regulations. Renovations like this one usually take at least six to nine months or more, depending on the complexity of the design plan and the ease of ordering, receiving and installing all of the elements in good time—not three months!

“My main goal in this long, open space was to make the main living areas appear larger than they actually are, and to separate the different areas and enhance them with today’s popular contemporary styling. We did this by removing walls and making

“Today,” explains Perla, “people are looking for amenities – especially in their kitchen and bathrooms. My detailing and design were especially focused on these areas.”

Let the rigors of a long day of work fade away in the glossy white freestanding soaking bathtub in the master bath. Matching white vessel sinks and a unique, seamless mirrored shower with mother-of-pearl tiles complete the mix, adding dimension and depth. The result is a spa-like flavor with a very open feeling, including all amenities plus a mirrored dressing area/boutique within the master bath.

Perla’s “mirror magic” makes the entire area appear triple its actual size! “In this master bath,” says Perla, “you can always see what the back of your hair looks like!”

In the kitchen, white kitchen wall cabinetry with over-size stainless pulls were custom designed to take advantage of every inch of space for storage. Cabinets extend along two walls and include the built-in refrigerator. The “star attraction” of this designer kitchen is the nine-foot double-sided island.

“It took a very good craftsman to miter the waterfall design in the quartz countertop that I wanted, specifically, four inches fixed, because of the large proportion of this island. It creates the centerpiece, the heart of the home. Everyone gathers around it!”

Above the island is a double level soffit and pendant lighting. Custom lighting flanks sliding doors that extend across the western side of the condo, further enhancing the upward reflection of sheer draperies in the stretch ceiling above.

Reflective shiny white “stretch” ceiling treatments throughout add the illusion of height to the relatively low-ceilinged rooms. This is complemented by 30x30-inch white porcelain floor tile. The result is a bright, shiny, sparkly, welcoming ambiance that seems to say, “Relax. Enjoy. Have fun!”

Between floor and ceiling are a variety of thoroughly modern wall treatments that add definition, texture, and visual interest. Mirrored mosaic floor-to-ceiling wall tile defines the foyer; hand crafted custom cork-and-silver flexible wall covering adorns the dining room. The guest suite walls are papered in silver-and-white striped wallpaper. Decorative three-dimensional wall panels add visual interest and a definite “wow” factor as they reflect upward to double height on the glossy ceiling: a white diamond pattern in the family room and a white wave pattern in the master bedroom.

Hoy en día estamos rodeados de música por todas partes. En cualquier lugar público podemos ser asaltados por miles de notas en contra de nuestra voluntad, nos podemos tropezar con una canción llena de recuerdos, o nos rendimos al Síndrome de Estocolmo secuestrados por una tonada. Escuchar música parece algo simple, accesible e inmediato que no requiere ningún esfuerzo consciente de nuestro parte. Quizás ese sea la principal razón por la que casi nunca escuchamos a la música. Más bien somos llevados por ella, como cuando asistimos al cine y la música lleva nuestras emociones de la mano de la acción del filme.

Es precisamente por la virtud y poder que tiene la música en despertar nuestras emociones y en modelar nuestros afectos, que somos subyugados constantemente por su dominio y pocas veces mantenemos una actitud crítica ante lo que escuchamos y simplemente lo aceptamos. Por esa razón, muchas veces la música que “escuchamos” es la que ha llegado a nosotros por accidente a través de diferentes agentes: el grillito cantor, don gato y su pandilla, el taxista, una película de acción, un video juego o el DJ de un gimnasio que con fervor religioso mantiene vivo el credo del fisiculturismo ¡ponchis, ponchis, ponchis!... ¿Y nuestra voluntad dónde queda?... Al respecto, Igor Stravinski, el gran compositor ruso del siglo XX, escribió en su poética: “El auditor moderno no necesita hacer más esfuerzo que el de oprimir un botón. Finalmente, la música es algo más allá que la música que escuchamos. Es una catedral en la que, durante siglos, han participado miles y miles de seres humanos en su construcción para dar cobijo a nuestra alma y estímulo a nuestra inteligencia.

Not long ago, I heard for the first time about the hunting of sailfish in the

waters near Isla Contoy. Being a bit skeptical, I initially hesitated to go out and look for them. However, my friend, the restless Armando Gasse, did not give up easily, and continued stubbornly to go out in his search.

We made two, or maybe three attempts without success in their location.

However, in January 2009, we planned a fishing expedition with my son Rodrigo to a place where they had found a sunken ship. Captain Remigio had the exact location and insisted on taking us to be the first to explore and document it. The sunken ship is located 56 nautical miles from the coast of Cancun, so we decided to leave very early leaving the boat prepared from the previous day.

No podría hablar de este lugar sin nombrar a Jack Depsey quien fue boxeador de peso completo y a la vez el gerente del lugar, entre otras personalidades tuvieron a Jonny Wismuller (mejor conocido como Tarzan ) lana Turner, Greta Garbo,Ali Kan ,Sofía Loren, Dolores del Río,Mario Moreno (Cantinflas), Lucy Ball, entre muchos otros, por todo esto podríamos decir que fueron los años dorados de Ensenada, pero como todo buen cuento tiene un final y este vino siendo en 1938 cuando nuestro ex presidente Lázaro Cárdenas prohibió los juegos de azar en México y tuvo que cerrar sus puertas dejándolo únicamente como hotel el cuál cambiaría su nombre a Hotel Playa y funcionaria por otros cinco años más.

A principios de los cuarenta se utilizó como cuarteles generales en la segunda guerra mundial por lo que fue casi desmantelado y destruido en casi un cincuenta por ciento y es entonces cuando el predio pasa a manos del abogado Alfonso Rocha quien se casa con una extranjera , llamada Marjorie King Plant quién decide rescatar lo que queda del lugar y actúa como dueña y señora del mismo hasta 1947 hasta su termino de contrato y regresa a Estados Unidos., después de eso

El cuál opera en su mayoría en fines de semana por su renta de salones como el majestuoso salón casino que aunque fue el casino original hoy se utiliza como salón muy exclusivo para bodas principalmente y actos cívicos, El salón Catedral el más espacioso con capacidad para mas de 500 invitados y una de las sedes de la famosa baja 1000 y baja 500 que lo utilizan como cuarteles generales en las carreras, su salón rojo el cuál fuera la recepción en 1930 su emblemático bar Andaluz el cual opera toda la semana y donde se degustan las margaritas principalmente siendo este el lugar donde se originó la misma gracias al bar tender David Negrete., extensos patios donde se muestran las treinta misiones de Baja California así como los nombres de los misioneros y de los animales y aves que son endémicas, su casa de la cultura donde dia con día estudiantes aprenden de un nuevo instrumento o de algún baile y el museo de historia que muestra fotos fantásticas de lo que era la comunidad entre otros.

Puedo hablar por horas de este precioso lugar pero con este pequeño resumen espero crear en ti lector la curiosidad de visitarlo y darte cuenta por ti mismo de la belleza histórica que plasma este hermoso lugar.

Jajaja… pero en referencia a conocer de su historia, cuales quiera de las que hablemos, convendría aquella de “Las puertas de la sabiduría nunca están cerradas”….

1999 ingresa a la Casa de la Cultura Oaxaqueña, en el 2000 se matricula en Bellas Artes, por el 2001 pasa por el taller Rufino Tamayo, Satchmo Centro de arte, para el 2003 recibe clases de litografía por el maestro Per Anderson en el IAGO, En el 2004 se integra a la galería Epicentro, donde trabaja con el maestro Marco Bustamante durante su estancia en el taller se hace especial énfasis en el dibujo, en una técnica y una plástica depurada.

S hortly after dawn the small plane takes off from the Cancun

airport and quickly lines its single propeller to the north. In a short time we flew over the shores of the Yalahau lagoon and then continue along the northern coast of Holbox, Cabo Catoche, Boca Iglesias, and Isla Blanca. All these wonderful sites have as a common denominator the ecstatic view of immense wetlands, savannas and mangroves, furrowed by innumerable channels of fresh or brackish water. In particular, it was the mangroves that most caught our attention. If seen at ground level they are beautiful, from the air they are spectacular.

Desde el borde de las nubes se aprecia claramente la inmensa planicie sobre la que se ha establecido el más importante centro turístico de América Latina. Hay casi un continuo entre el verde de la selva y el azul turquesa del mar; los divide tan solo una delgadísima franja de playas blancas. Uno no puede dejar de imaginar lo fácil que puede ser el que el mar invada la tierra. Es nítido cómo la arena de la playa, la vegetación de la duna y, finalmente el manglar, contienen a las aguas marinas protegiendo a la flora y fauna que están detrás. Causa escalofríos el pensar qué sucedería si esos manglares y la vegetación costera desaparecieran y en su lugar quedaran casas y edificios expuestos directamente a la furia de los huracanes o a la temida elevación del nivel del mar.

Mis escalofríos no son, por desgracia, producto de una paranoia infundada. Mientras tomamos la ruta final hacia las pistas, me llegan recuerdos de años atrás. Memorias de otro vuelo en avión desde el que atestigüé los

Pasamos sobre los barrios de Cancún que le han ido ganando terreno a los manglares de la laguna Chacmocchuc, a orillas de la Bahía de Mujeres. Barrios en los que sus habitantes tuvieron que ser desalojados y perdieron todas sus pertenencias durante el huracán Wilma.

En ese entonces el agua que normalmente se hubiera drenado por los ahora inexistentes manglares, se estancó dejando sumergidos a pisos enteros de casas y comercios.

Finalmente la avioneta toca tierra, se sacude y va reduciendo su velocidad. El vuelo ha terminado pero en la mente de todos los pasajeros se agolpan las preocupaciones de lo que el ser humano y el clima pueden ocasionar. Un simple vuelo

Esta va ser mi investigación de esta edición, gracias a Maricultivos Sol Azul elección de los ostiones como suculencia paladeable, se encadena a las grandes civilizaciones, de Luna extremo a otro del mundo, de un punto cardinal del placer a otro geográfico.

Historia 1.- La Antigua Roma fundió el esplendor de las artes con la suntuosidad de sus comidas, y así los dioses no solo se deleitaron con la ambrosía, sino que recurrieron a los ostiones como manjar divino ofrendado por el mar. Molusco apreciado, surtidor natural de bienestar orgánico y de soporte sexual, enlace de tradiciones orientales y occidentales, punto de comunión universal, como lo son el alimento para el cuerpo y para el alma, en un solo producto, en un único manjar.

Ya en el 25 A.C., el libro de recetas De re coquinaria libri decem, escrito por Marco Gavio Apicio, confería al ostión un sitio primordial en la mesa….. De ahí que los ostiones tuvieran una gran demanda en los banquetes lujuriosos de la Roma antigua, donde no había orgía completa sin ellos.

Los griegos deglutían polvo de concha de ostión en los momentos de decadencia sexual, a la vez que en Atenas, tuvo el ostión incidencias en la vida política, donde los pobladores votaban escribiendo en la concha del molusco el nombre de quien querían apartar del gobierno, condenándolo al ostracismo (destierro) por 100 años, no más!

Fueron además, las dinastías chinas sabias educadoras del ostión, quienes lo usaron como medicina y como alimento.

Mientras que Japón desde el XVII estableció la ostricultura. Y así, como los viajes de Marco Polo o las recreaciones de Julio Verne, el ostión abarcó al Mediterráneo, al Atlántico y al Pacífico para cultivarse finalmente en las costas de la Península de Baja California.

Se origina en el Japón en donde se le ha cultivado durante siglos. Ha sido introducido en el resto del mundo, en la década de los 20 en Estados Unidos y en Francia desde el 1995.

La Ostra Europea ( Ostrea Edulis) nativa de Europa, ha sido parte de la dieta humana por muchos siglos.

Con el pasar de los siglos hubo muchos cambios de técnicas para el cultivo así de llegar a producciones inimaginables hace 100 años atrás.

Aquí algunos datos: En 2005 la producción mundial de la Americana del Pacifico se expandió de las 156.000 toneladas en el 1950 a los 4.87 millones de toneladas. Es probable que la producción continúe creciendo, aunque a un ritmo menor debido a la urbanización costera.

En la actualidad el Ostión Japonés representa el 95% del ostión cultivado en el mundo, principalmente en China, Japón, Corea del Sur, Australia, Nueva Zelanda, Europa, Chile ,Perú y desde Alaska (EUA) .

México ocupa la sexta posición después de Estados Unidos y Francia. La gran parte de la producción de los principales países productores es absorbida por los mercados domésticos. Francia no llega a dar abasto a sus consumos y tiene que importar de otros países de la UE. (Reino Unido e Irlanda).

A nivel comercial existen cinco variedades de ostiones: la Americana del Pacifico. La Japonesa Kumamoto, la Europea Plana y la Olympia.

En México Baja California se cultivan 5 tipos de ostiones el ostión Japonés ( Cassostreas gigas) el Ostión Americano (Cassostrea virginica) el Ostión de Roja (Crassostrea iridescens) el Ostión de Mangle (Crassostrea Rhizophorae) y el Ostión de Placer (Crassostrea Corteziensis) .

Una de la empresa más activa en el cultivo de los ostiones es Sol Azul. Su cultivo del Ostión Japonés se encuentra en la Reserva de la Biosfera El Vizcaíno dentro de una zona denominada Guerrero Negro que forma parte de un gran corredor biológico que integran islas, lagunas, costas y planicies. Así que con la calidad del entorno y sus aguas no puede caber duda alguna sobra la calidad del ostión.

Si van a Paris, Le Bar a Huitres en St. Germain o a San Francisco al Pier Market 39 ya que si les gustan los ostiones estos son los tops que no deben de dejar de visitar.

Existen muchas recetas de cómo preparar los ostiones y algunas bastante sofisticadas, pero lo más común es de comerlos frescos para experimentar las variedades de sabores cremosos y salados aquí mi receta casera rápida y deliciosa para compartir.

Ostiones naturales en su Concha Ingredientes: 24 ostiones en su concha.

Hielo en trocitos.

4 cdas. De vinagre de vino tinto.

1 cebolla morada grande o 2 chicas, muy finamente picadas.

Preparación: Abre los ostiones, teniendo cuidado para no extraer el jugo. Acomoda los ostiones en un plato grande con hielo o cubre 4platos con mucho hielo encima. Mezcla el vinagre y la cebolla morada; ponlas en un plato chico o plato salsero y colócalo en el centro de los ostiones y sirve.

Además son ricos de calcio, cobre, odio, magnesio, zinc, che se asocia con la producción de la testosterona…..

Ya sabrán……

Ya conocerán los ostiones a la Rockefeller una creación del Chef del Restaurante Antoine de Nueva Orleans creado para John D Rockefeller en el 1899. ….Nouvelle Cuisine?

También se pueden preparar en: Coctel, al Chipotle, a la Diabla, Empanizados, en Sopa, Asado al cilantro o en crema de espinaca y muchas preparaciones más.

Tequila al gusto

Preparación

En un plato mezclar la sal y el chile piquín. En otro plato poner el jugo de medio limón. Humedecer la parte superior de un vaso con el limón y luego escarchar con la sal y el chile piquín.

Entrenarnos en mirar dentro y realizar un proceso de desarrollo intrapersonal, que nos proteja de emociones falsas aprendidas en el pasado (sobre todo ansiedad, depresión, odio y soberbia) y nos ayude a descubrir que cada uno es un ser humano único, se hace cada día más indispensable si queremos disfrutar de relaciones interpersonales y sociales donde haya amor y alegría auténticos.
