LAS QUINCE LETRAS
is one of the favorites in Oaxaca’s ethnic and local gastronomy. It has been run by Celia Florian and Fidel Méndez Sosa since 1992. It’s an unassuming place, but it exudes authenticity, allowing you to enjoy food the way an Oaxacan does. That’s why it’s a favorite among locals, nationals, and foreigners alike.
Celia is an Oaxacan chef with a significant trajectory in the Mexican culinary scene. She embraces Mexican cuisine with passion and dedication, and she has been one of the greatest promoters and representatives of Oaxacan cuisine. She is a loyal and constant advocate for the flavors of Oaxaca, and she has worked in support of national gastronomy, particularly by assisting traditional cooks. Alongside her is Adriana Aguilar Escobar, another woman
At Las Quince Letras, you can find a wide variety of snacks from the eight regions, as well as seasonal dishes. The musttry items there are the different moles, garnachas, molotes filled with istmeño stew, and the tasajo taco with chapulines (grasshoppers).
