In the heart of the Lacandon Jungle

It’s surprising that in our country there are still places untouched by civilization.

We departed from Palenque at 4 in the morning in search of an exciting adventure in the Lacandon Jungle, Chiapas.

As the sun rose on the horizon, we made a stop for breakfast and continued our journey, accompanied by cheerful music. The jungle that I remembered as tall and lush had now turned into pastures.

Finally, we arrived at Lacanja, where we had to change vehicles, as only members of the Lacandon community are allowed entry.

After a rainy night and feeling hungry, we continued our journey in the morning, observing otters and macaws as we marveled at the biodiversity in Montes Azules.

It’s hard to describe the excitement of being in places where nature overflows, blending reality with fantasy.
