Foreword
This year marks the 25th anniversary of the County Durham Environment Awards. Over that time more than 850 projects involving thousands of people throughout the county and beyond have been awarded or commended for their contributions to the environment.
They continue to be a unique opportunity to celebrate the fantastic achievements and commitment that people make to caring for their neighbourhoods, environment and individual communities.
A special mention must go this year to the largest ever number of recipients of our outstanding awards. Exceeding the criteria in several of our categories, they have demonstrated a comprehensive approach to their respective schemes demonstrating considerable personal commitment and exemplary partnership working they have all incorporated sustainable principles throughout their design, development and implementation. Congratulations to this year’s award and commendation winners and thanks to everyone involved in the Environment Awards 2014, we look forward to the next 25 years.

About the County Durham Environment Partnership
The Environment Partnership brings together public, private and voluntary organisations with one common goal, to make County Durham ‘altogether greener’.
The Environment Partnership aims to influence policy and strategy within the county council and partner organisations. This influence will ensure the environmental concerns of residents is strongly reflected in all strategic documents and forward plans that impact County Durham. Our vision is to effectively work in partnership to make environmental improvements and drive sustainable development across County Durham.
