Once you’ve purchased your new dream home, your mind is probably full of the details you need to handle to leave behind your current home and establish your new lifestyle. While you probably have a personal list that involves farewell parties with your friends, here are some reminders of things you’ll need to take care of before, during and after your move.

n Medical needs. Get your medical and dental records to give to future providers. Don’t forget the vet records for your pets. n Organize a yard sale. n Arrange for any required repairs on your current home. n Contact your insurance agent to research and establish an insurance policy for your new home. n Contact your car insurance company to see if they will cover you in your new location and to get a quote on your new rate.

Find one for your new home on Angie’s List. n Cancel your gym membership. n Pick up prescriptions and have recurring prescriptions transferred to a pharmacy near your new home. n Contact the post office to have your mail forwarded. n Pick up your dry cleaning. n Return your library books and any other borrowed items.

One week before you move n Dispose of all cleaning solutions or flammable liquids that can’t be moved. n Confirm travel arrangements. n Change your address with friends, family, creditors, magazine subscriptions, financial institutions and other organizations.
