pomme de terre

pomme de terre is a creative think-tank and design studio for exterior spaces. Established in the winter of 2010, this collaboration was founded in order to execute an era of strong design practices in the Pittsburgh region. Our concept is to promote seamless organizational knowledge by utilizing pinnacle professionals from the respective field. Roughly translated, pomme de terre means “apples of the earth.” Inspired by sculptor, Andrea Nichole Santoro’s work, “Earth Apples,” which was created by sampling soils from cultivated farm fields and natural areas then, creating form by adding cement to form them. The idea reverberates with our work as designers. We are all “de terre” so design should be a stewardship that fosters form and function with nature, while creating staggering beauty to compliment.
