FUTURES CAMPAIGN
Warm welcome from our Warden Legacy gifts are the timeless threads that weave together the past, present, and future. They are a testament to the enduring love and commitment of our alumni, parents, and friends and not only sustain the excellence of education we provide but also enable us to dream bigger and reach higher. They allow us to provide life-changing educational opportunities to generations of pupils, inspiring minds, nurturing talents, and shaping futures. As you explore this brochure, you will discover stories of those who have made a lasting impact upon our school through legacy giving. These gifts have created opportunities and scholarships through our Foundation Awards that have transformed the lives of individual pupils. We would like to invite you to become a part of this lasting impact too. No matter the size, legacy gifts play a crucial role in contributing to the school’s future, enabling us to provide world-class education through the opportunities and excellence we offer and ensuring that the spirit of Dean Close continues for generations to come. With heartfelt appreciation, Emma Taylor Warden/CEO, Dean Close
My legacy to tomorrow’s Decanians “I and many, if not most, of my contemporaries appreciate how fortunate we were to be part of the community at Dean Close and are forever grateful for the sacrifices made for us to enjoy our education and start of life preparation there. I perhaps didn't make full use of the opportunities provided and regret this, but I made lifelong friendships and enjoy returning regularly. I would like other children to have these chances and would encourage Old Decanians to consider making bequests in favour of the school. It is my way of saying 'thank you’.” Jeremy Winter Walton Court 1961 Jeremy Winter, 1959.

The gift of opportunity
Graham Prime BA, BSc, a former pupil of Dean Close School. Graham attended our school from 1958, describing his time here as ‘the happiest memories of his formative years’ which remained close to his heart throughout his life. He recently left a legacy totalling £127,000 to support the Foundation Awards here at Dean Close School. The Foundation Awards aim to make a significant difference to the lives of talented young people by providing them with the opportunity to receive a Dean Close education. These awards are intended to support those pupils who can truly contribute to school life, take part in activities, and inspire those around them. The kindness of leaving a legacy will help us to build upon and deliver our Futures campaign.

Giving something back
“I still fondly look back at some truly memorable school days. Without my Dean Close education and experience I can safely say I would never have had the successful career in finance I enjoyed, and I am ever grateful for the opportunity I was given. The lifelong friendships I have and still enjoy through the Old Decanian Society are the icing on the cake. For me, the opportunity to give something back to the foundation through the legacy scheme seems so fitting. I hope my contribution helps in some small way to continue the fantastic work the foundation is doing for young people to benefit in the same way I did.”

The gift of music
Orchestra c. 1898
In September 1995, Diana Walkley was the first Peripatetic Singing teacher at Dean Close Junior School. She left a generous bequest of £65,500 for the school's Music Department in her will, which will positively impact aspiring musicians. This gesture serves as a heartfelt testament to her profound love for music. Her memory lives on, and the lasting legacy of her contribution continues to inspire.
