The course is designed to teach English that is relevant and useful; not only teaching grammar to “tick a box”. Teachers get to know students’ needs and cater their lessons to strengthen their skills and address their weaknesses Lessons are designed to overlap with all of the activities, excursions, and events that take place at Dean Close Summer School so that students have every opportunity to practise and develop their English mastery
At the beginning of each course, students sit a simple placement test that is carefully designed to help place students in the English class that is right for their current point in their English journey These tests take place in the morning after their arrival so that students are fresh and ready to begin growing in confidence
Classes are arranged so that there is a mix of different nationalities and that the ages and ability of the students in each class is similar. Classes do not usually have more than 12 students in them so that teachers can focus on each student’s individual needs and there will be plenty of opportunities to practise and improve their English.
All students receive an end of course report from their teacher, as well as a certificate recognising their achievement in completing a two week programme at Dean Close.
