Academic Programme

"The aim of our academic programme is to provide high quality education. Lessons are planned and executed by a combination of both Dean Close Staff and highly qualified teachers/tutors connected to Dean Close. We are incredibly proud of our offering and see it as a direct extension of the fantastic education we provide to our students during term time. We want the students to learn but to also have an enjoyable experience, getting a feel for what Dean Close is like as a school and as a community."

Ages 8–12 : Level 1

Fun and engaging lessons that are reflective of our Prep School curriculum and centered around active learning through activities and games, providing a wide range of both written and verbal English skills.

Ages 13-16 : Level 2

Level 2 focuses on developing a wider skill set and is based on our Senior School curriculum. Students will learn through a variation of different activities and assignments that are relevant to the world they are growing up in.

Music & Art

Music and Art are a huge part of life at Dean Close, with high quality facilities in both the Art & Music Schools.

Our Music school houses a 120-seat performance hall and recording studio, as well as a number of classrooms and breakout/rehearsal spaces.

Our Art school is spread across 2-floors with dedicated creative spaces for both classes and independent working.

We have built a comprehensive Music and Art programme into our summer school, in which the students will benefit from state-of-the-art facilities and tuition to build their creative skills in both areas.

Excursions & Activities

Excursions: There are three excursions a week. One all-day, one-half day and one smaller excursion. Examples of these are trips to London (including the Tate Galleries), trips to Oxford/Bath and also visits to local towns, landmarks and shows/galleries.

Activities: On-site activities will include team building games and exercises as well as sport such as football & Basketball. Students will be given free time to enjoy the pool and other school facilities throughout their time with us, as well as time to just relax and replenish their energy in our boarding houses and social spaces.

Evening activities will include film nights, a disco, quizzes, talent shows and more.
