Your hardwork and hunger for knowledge are inspiring as well. You always strive to be better and to learn and try new things. I hope you’ve been doing that, but also having fun, resting and taking care of yourself.

You’re naturally very funny and entertaining. You have a calming presence and an interesting taste, too. I really enjoy watching your lives and vlogs, especially when you share things that you like. They make me happy or at the very least less lonely.

I’m excited to see you with SHINee again. Your personalities and music together and as soloists are uniquely different, I love it so much. I adore that you’re all imperfectly perfect. Because it’s okay to make mistakes, as that’s what makes us grow as humans.

To The Person I Love The Most Writing to the person i love the most can be the hardest thing to do. Emotions are faster than my fingers but the desire to express never stops. This odd feeling appears once in a while when the idea of your eyes, dear Taemin, going through my thoughts hits me.

Thinking of you knowing the piece of my heart that belongs to you gives me shivers in an incredibly beautiful way. It's like being afraid of what i want the most. Dear Taemin, I hope you are doing well. If you read this, it is nice to greet you. I’m a new fan, so thinking of something meaningful to say to you has been tough because I’m still learning who you are, but I suppose I should start with how I discovered your music.

A couple years ago, I first watched your 2017 collaboration with BTS’ Jimin. I went back to watch it again recently and decided to listen to some of your music because your voice caught my attention this time. Initially, I didn’t like it because it wasn’t what I had expected. I had formed this idea in my mind that prevented me from hearing your music for what it really is. I sincerely apologize for my prior closed-mindedness. However, your voice stayed with me anyway. I searched a little more and found your 2016 MAMA performance. I started off watching it a little skeptical, but I enjoyed all three songs immensely. “Soldier” drew me in, and “Goodbye” is what urged me to listen to your music again. The time I’ve spent listening has led me here. Along the way, there have been a few things that stood out to me.

The first thing I noticed was how diverse your music is. To me, that diversity indicates that you are the type of artist that strives to stretch your limits with each new release. I think your experience in the industry really helps boost that, but you’re also very talented.

I think “hardworking” is a good adjective for you as well. I believe that natural talent exists, but I believe it has to be honed to a sharp, clean edge through hard work. I think that is what you have: natural talent and a naturally artistic mind that has been honed over the years through hard work and dedication. In addition, loving what you do and doing what you love at the same time is a powerful and rare thing, and that passion is very obvious. I truly hope you can continue music and dance for as long as your heart desires.

I have also learned that you are Catholic. I was raised in a different denomination of Christianity, but I was still happy to learn that someone I’ve recently come to respect is Christian as well. Please keep in mind that even if you were not, I would not judge you because of that. However, it does mean that I am more comfortable with saying the following: I’m not sure if your faith in God is still strong, but when I was thinking about what to write, I thought, “God loves you so much, Taemin.” That thought brought me to tears. I cried because I had once again suddenly been hit with the immensity of the truth that God loves us all without reservation.

There’s also something I want you to remember as you move forward. It’s a verse a friend once read to me that really stuck with me. From Matthew 17:20, it reads, “For truly, I say to you, if you have faith like a grain of mustard seed, you will say to this mountain, ‘Move from here to there,’ and it will move, and nothing will be impossible for you.” To me, this means that even in our lowest moments, when we may have only a tiny speck of faith in our God, He is still there for us, still moving mountains for us even though we cannot see it. I often struggle with remembering this, but I hope you will never forget.

Please remember to look for the positive side of any situation. Smile often, and remember to laugh. I’ve always heard laughter is the best medicine. God bless, and be well, Taemin.

My journey of knowing you started with seeing the dance practice for the song MOVE. It has a very relatable meaning to me. When I worry to much about what people would think about me and the way I am, I recall the lyrics. It reminds me that there are more meaningful things to do in life, and worrying about other people's opinion about me is not one of them. I decided to have the title MOVE tattooed on my arm, to serve as a reminder of those lyrics, but also to mark the huge change you made in my life and the song which started it all. And it's written in a font used for the amazing NGDA album, which also influenced me a lot.

I will also be grateful for being able to join the amazing community of Shawols. I made many good friends among them. Creating this book together with so many people is such an honor. I hope you will like it.

태민이가 군대 간 날 쓴 메세지입니다. 태민아, 안녕! 이거는 태민에게 첫번째 편지다. 오늘 무슨 날인지 알잖아. 군대 가는 날이다. 태민, 너, 늘 고맙다고 하고, 사랑 많이 받은 사람이라고 하는데, 그거만 아니지. 넌, 우리에게 빛나는 사람이지. 늘 힐링을 주는 사람이지. 태민이가 과거의 태민이에게 제일 고맙다고 해야 된다고. 그 과거의 열심히 일한 태민이 덕분에 오늘의 태민이 있으니까. 그리고 나에게는 제일 좋아하는 받은 선물이었다. 덕분에 샤이니 팬 되고 새로운 거 배우고, 좋은 친구 만나고 한국어도 더 열심히 공부했다. 아직 모자라지만, 앞으로도 더 더 공부할거다. 그리고 태민이 군대 있는 동안, 저는 더 멋있는 사람이 될거고, 태민 다녀올 때, 새로운 모습으로 인사한다, 약속이다. 탬, 우리 소중한 태민이, 건강하게 잘 다녀와. 이 자리는 너의 자리다. 너 밖에 없다. 그러니까 걱정마! 잘 다녀와!!

Dear Taemin, I don't think words can express how thankful I am for you. Watching you during lockdown and pandemic was how I got through life. I would always listen to "Better days" to get through the tough days. How hard you work always inspires me to work harder. Thank you for being Taemin. Thank you for giving us so much content, amazing songs and dances even tho it's hard sometimes. Please be happy, content and healthy.
