Mixing fresh cuttings of boughs and berry branches borrow from Fall displayed on the Belgian buffet in the Dining Room. A wall was removed to open the space between the two rooms presently 'hidden' with a linen burlap-look curtain. A blue & white tablerunner gives a nod to the china stored in the corner cupboards.

Away to the Hay Meadow We Go
It's not exactly over the river but in mid-november, it is to the back of our hay meadow we go to gather up gorgeous bundles of evergreen branches, moss, birch bark, and poplar saplings for natural garlands and bouquets in porch pots and vases. Then if we're lucky, we score our christmas tree as well! if not, no worries, it's off to the local tree farm just down the road. Vintage
I turned my guest cottage into a seasonal vintage pop-up shop. Here we are in the full Holiday swing! A long poplar branch runs halfway along the porch ceiling while pine and spruce branches nestle into moss-lined galvanized buckets propped on a primitive bench. And small cedar saplings sit happily on the adirondak chairs.

In Maine it's easy to forget boots aren't just about shoveling snow or stalls. Chuck the L.L. Beans for a night (or two!) and treat your feet to some gorgeous suede above the knee boots or sassy stiletto ankle boots with great buckles. Note: Flannel plaid can also get dressed up for the Holidays! 74 holidays lookbook

Y I D r e t Swea Why not embellish an old sweater? For her first party of the Season, Caitlyn, my daughter, grabbed leftover homemade ornaments, chintzy red bows, ribbon remnants, jingle bells, beads, and pine cones for her One-Of-A-Kind Christmas Ugly Sweater Party. Her sister, Asheley, created a felt-scrap Rudolph with floppy ears for the backside. Ugly Sweaters are all the rage and can be bought new. But what fun is that? Create your own DIY Ugly Sweater for your next party! 78 holidays lookbook

Pistachio Brownie Trifle
These colorful christmas trifles serve up quick and easy or can be prepped ahead of time. The pistachio green pudding punched with the bright red cherry atop plays pizzazz to any Holiday gathering and blends lusciously with a Fudge brownie wedge, dolloped whipped cream, and finished with a gorgeous gourmet chocolate [death by chocolate]. i've simply layered each into chunky martini glasses [crate & barrel]. A final sprinkle of salted peanuts can be added for those who prefer an extra crunch.
