December, 2020 As I sit here Thanksgiving morning, I think about all the things I am thankful for. As crazy as this year has been, I am still thankful that I have made it so far. I am thankful that I can stay working from home as many have been able to do. I am thankful that my family has been healthy and that we can still be together even if is from far away. I am thankful for all my wonderful friends, especially my sheep friends. I am thankful to be part of a proud and long traditional industry-‐Agriculture. Agriculture has been tested, passed, and survived so many things over the years. We are survivors, we are strong, and we are even stronger when we stand together. We will survive this as we have survived so many other things. The Board will be working on the Budget for the coming year and as much as we were hoping to be planning for a “normal” year again I am afraid that we will be planning for another ‘Covid’ year. But we are going to be better equipped and hopefully be offering our members some new ‘virtual’ opportunities. One of these new ‘virtual’ opportunities is our Annual Meeting. With the craziness of this year we were unable to have our Annual Meeting, but we will be planning on having one in 2021 and will be bringing it to you virtually. This will also allow more of the membership to attend. We will also be looking at the Festival. We had success with a three-‐day sheep show, fleece sale, and virtual marketplace. We also held the photo contest and poster contest. If we are unable to hold our grand event as we have in the past, I am hopeful we will be able to do what we have done this year and build on it for 2021. I would also ask our membership to look at the article in this newsletter about the upcoming ASI Virtual Convention. For a registration fee of $25 you can get access to this wonderful event and see for yourself what ASI does for us here in the Midwest. I know I will be attending it again. You need to register before January 15, 2021. If anyone has anything, they would like to talk about please don’t hesitate to reach out to me. If I miss your call or if you email me, I will try to get back to as soon as I can. I just would like to wish you all a Happy Thanksgiving and an early Merry Christmas and Happy New Year. I wish you all good health and happiness. I will keep you all in my thoughts and prayers as we move through the holiday season and into 2021. Nancy Burton President & Board Member, WSBC
