FOR MAY
I‘ve been down to Abergavenny to purchase most
of what was left of the Swarovski Crystals in the UK!
The company I’ve been buying from for over 15 years has unfortunately gone, & I’ll need to purchase direct from Germany . This is such a sad time for us all as not only does it mean less awareness of beautiful 40% Lead Crystal, but I shall also have to buy in much larger quantities, such as 30 of one shape, so I’m hoping you will all support the shop & share your feedback even more than before. Please do ‘share’ all our wonderful crystals with your friends & family so that I can continue to purchase them & keep the shop growing . Here are some of the most popular shapes & don’t forget, I can make them into beautiful pendants to wear for all occasions - from casual to the prettiest Wedding Jewellery!
They simply look fabulous with everything !
During May, Fridays are Heart days Whatever the item, as long as it’s heart shaped.

MAY BIRTHSTONE :
EMERALD OR CHRYSOPRASE
Emerald is the precious intense green variety of the mineral BERYL. Emerald’s name derives from the Greek smaragdos, which means “green stone.” Emerald forms in granite & pegmatite rocks, taking its colour from additional chromium & vanadium atoms. There are many colours of beryl, each with a different name: aquamarine (light blue to greenish blue), golden beryl (intense yellow), heliodor (light yellow), morganite (light pink to pinkish orange), bixbite (red) & bazzite (blue). Pure beryl is colourless &it is known as goshenite. Emerald crystals are long prisms, clearly hexagonal in shape with faceted flat terminations. Emeralds grow in pegmatites such as topaz, quartz and tourmaline or in mica schists. Emeralds Mohs’s hardness is of 7.5 to 8. They are brittle and “the emerald-cut,” which is rectangular with the corners cut off, was developed to limit breakages. Because of its beautiful green colour, emeralds have always had a magical association with the plant kingdom & with fertility & abundance. Today the country of Colombia in South America supplies about 50 percent of the world’s emeralds. They occur in metamorphic calcite veins at Colombia’s Muzo & Chivor mines. The Conquistadors during the 13th Century found the indigenous people mining & using this stone for religious offerings, personal adornment & trade. Emeralds were also mined in Egypt 4,000 years ago. The ancient Romans viewed Emeralds as a symbol of fertility, & also associated it with the goddess Venus. Emerald is the colour of the heart chakra, which is the fountain of the emotions, especially those of love & compassion. Emeralds can help to heal heartbreak & to remember to give love to oneself as well as others. Emerald has traditionally been used as a stone of Love, & to stimulate both wealth & abundance. Emerald is also a strong heart healer, & can assist the physical heart in recovering from all manner of irregularities or diseases. Emeralds are found in Brazil, Colombia, Russia, Pakistan and southern Africa.
