This year, we have expanded our summer course offerings to allow as many people as possible to participate. You will thus be able to choose from design, pattern-making or fashion business courses on our campus and online. Meanwhile, we are also launching a new program, on campus only, that combines design and pattern making linked to eco-responsible fashion, more specifically upcycling techniques. These summer courses are offered in French and English, although some classes may be ultimately bilingual, depending upon the number of participants. We also invite you to explore our evening classes, which are offered in French only. These will allow you to acquire the basic skills of design and pattern-making throughout the year on our campus. Our in-person courses will take place in strict compliance with all of the health regulations required. Please be aware that the format of our short-term programs are subject to change according to the evolution of the COVID-19 pandemic and the measures enforced by the government by these dates. All of these courses are taught by experienced members of the ESMOD faculty and experts in the various fields covered. We look forward to sharing our expertise and passion for fashion with you! Over the course of two weeks, you will learn the basic techniques of fashion design beginning with sketching. You will learn to sketch straight figurines and how to add in color. Then, you will be introduced to mood-boards that will allow you to develop your personal creative universe.

At the same time, you will have the opportunity to discover the various neighborhoods of Paris over the course of a day.

4 Weeks This course will teach you the basic techniques of fashion design as you learn to execute different types of figurines (robotic, swaying, etc.) and adding color. You will then work on your own personal creative universe via the creation of mood-boards and collages. This research with then be integrated into your figurines, as you add more color, until you’ve ultimately created a complete design board.
LANGUAGE
At the same time, you will have the chance to develop your fashion sensibility as you participate in a Fashion Rally that will take you through the various fashion neighborhoods of Paris.

Throughout this month, you will have the opportunity to hear several conferences and lectures online that will cover such topics as the expertise and craftsmanship of the fashion industry, what goes into building a collection, how to create a portfolio, etc. Non-contractual information

PATTERN-MAKING With this course, you will get an introduction to the various techniques of pattern-making: pattern-making, flat cutting, draping, sizing, etc. You will learn to construct a straight skirt (in pinned muslin.) after an introduction to sewing, you will learn how to assemble a sleeveless top while also learning the technical vocabulary of cutting, yokes and buttoning. You will also learn how to construct a dress in muslin (flare, pleats, collar, etc.) that you will assemble during the last week of the course.

sustainable fashion ESMOD Paris invites you to join us for a 1-month course dedicated to upcycling. During this course, you will be able to give a second life to pieces of your wardrobe by reassembling them to create a unique, hybrid, creative garment !

Starting with personal research and careful examination of your old or vintage garments, you will create new volumes, twisting these pieces to achieve a new balance that will define your design. From there, you will move on to the construction of your hybrid garment from the elements of your existing and vintage garments, guided by knowledgeable pattern-making professors who will show you various techniques such as disassembly, flat cutting, reassembly, stitching, finishing touches, etc. so that you can bring to life the new unique piece you designed.

ESMOD Fashion Business invited you to discover what goes on behind the scenes of the fashion industry during the month of July 2021 via our Fashion Business summer program.

This program, offered French and English, on our Paris campus, will allow you to take a first glimpse into the world of fashion, get to know the different fields and key players, understand its environment and trends. We will take you through everything from the history of fashion, to the concepts of digital and “phygital” marketing, each step of the life cycle of a product and the construction of a brand. This program is comprised of courses led by professionals in the industry, various workshops, lectures, virtual or physical visits to key fashion venues, and a variety of other indispensable activities. At the end of this course, those who participated in the entire program (lectures, workshops, personal work, etc.) will receive an “ESMOD Fashion Business” summer school certificate.

FASHION DESIGN “ Découverte : création stylisme et modélisme” You will hone your creativity during a “selfie mode” workshop and learn to translate your inspirations and ideas with a “mood board” workshop. You will then study the basics of fashion design via workshops focusing on “figurines” and “flat drawing” (technical drawing.) This will allow you to reflect your ideas on muslin during the “pattern-making” workshops, during which you will be introduced to the basics of sewing and volumes.
Over the course of two weeks, discover step by step the process of creating a collection via design and pattern-making workshops accompanied by conferences and lectures on the world of fashion.
In addition to those workshops, you will nourish your knowledge of the fashion industry with conferences and lectures. These will allow you to get a better grasp of how the industry is organized, what the specificities of fashion are, how to build a collection, how to make a portfolio, what are the fashion neighborhoods of Paris, etc.

FABRICS LIBRARY ESMOD’s fabric library is a unique resource which allows student to explore a wide array of fabrics and samples used in all of the different specialties.
