This was a live group project on behalf of Speller Metcalfe construction company. The brief involved branding a new company formed as a collaboration between Speller Metcalfe and Worcester College of Technology. The brand needed to be adaptable to suit additional counties in the future. In addition to the branding, the company required display material and promotional boxes, to be distributed at displays and exhibitions, to potential apprentices and employers.



The Richards Sandy Partnership, Chartered Accountants. Recent work done for The Richards Sandy Partnership involved a marketing concept for their divergence into Wills and Estates Management. They wanted this to concentrate on the theme of the family as a unit. Marketing material for this was produced as both a flyer and a more detailed Bi-fold brocure.



branding A gymwear company was looking for branding which would compliment the design of their existing brand which was aimed at a male demographic. They wanted the new brand to have its own identity to cater for their female customers. This branding maintains the overall theme of their brand, which is animal themed, whilst adding a more feminine touch.




advertising The brief was to increase the appeal, of Douwe Egberts products, to a younger demographic. My market research indicated an increased popularity of watching films at home with friends. The increase in the ‘Love Film’ and ‘Netflix’ type products also confirms this. I decided to create a hypothetical link between Douwe Egberts and Love Film with the emphasis on linking types of coffee to specific films. The posters created the appearance that the coffee interacted with the film. This would also be supported by a money-off mailshot coupon.


typography My college required a new collection of equality and diversity posters. I chose to create my own slogan based on famous people with disabilities. I also decided to draw my own original barbed wire font.


editorial As students we were tasked with creating a reinvented version of ‘The Face’ Magazine. I elected to produce a lino cut of the Easter Island heads on the cover. The magazine contained interviews with other artists as well as a proportion of my own design and photography work. The full version can be viewed online: http://issuu.com/debrolph/docs/zine5issuu


digital imagery

This is a composite image, I created on Photoshop and Illustrator, to represent a scene from the film A Christmas Carol. In the image I have used only my own photographs or digital drawings.


I was commisioned, by a local primary school, to produce a digital image for a large notice board in the entrance hall. The image was to portray the various outdoor facilities in the school and a number of children involved in their use. This involved all the photography and the creation of a collage which would encompass the widespread outdoor areas in one image. This then enabled the fantasy style placement of groups of children and individuals to capture the learning atmosphere of the school environment.


photography I have a natural eye for photographic composition and a good knowledge of exposures and techniques. For this reason I am always keen to utilise my own photographs and photographic skills in my design work. Many of my photographs have won competions and have been used in print. The photograph of the Malvern Hills (opposite) was taken from National Trust property ‘Croome Park’ and has been used regularly in the National Trust’s publications for the area.
