Smashing Pumpkins’ catalogue is due for revamp by EMI with bonuses starting this autumn with Gish, Siamese Dreams, Pisces Iscariot; in 2012, Mellon Collie & The Infinite Sadness, The Aeroplane Flies High, Adore; 2013, Machina/The Machines Of God, Machina II – The Friends & Enemies Of Modern Music and a new best-of. Yes man Jon Anderson has a new album in the pipeline and RC found out more. “I’m writing with people around the world via the internet, from a Violin Concerto For Dance, to musicals, and songs for my next release. I put songs on Facebook every week, and it’ll be a selection from that, through my recovery from three near-death moments in 2008. Is there anything unreleased at all? A zillion ideas and songs. A box set might be the way to go, and I have an idea that would change the marketing of music, so we’ll see what happens. Have you done anything fans may not know about? I’m singing on Jonathan Alias’ Prayer Cycle, and one with Rahatt Ali Khan. What’s your favourite record shop? Boo Boo, San Luis Obispo, California. They have every record ever! What’s the last album you bought? Etheopian Old School Music. The first? Duane Eddy’s Rebel Rouser. What music moves you most? Sibelius’ symphonies, which I’ve played more than any. When was the best era for music? The 40s and 60s. What record would you save from your burning house? Sibelius Symphony Number 7. Which band would you answer questions about on Mastermind? The Beatles. What would you be if not a musician? Soccer player. What fact about you would surprise people? I’m shy. Which question do you wish people would stop asking? Can I help you madame? Who would you most like to record with? The Kin. What unfulfilled ambitions do you have? To play Carnegie Hall, create musicals and operas, and there’s a book in the works.
