Park Watch Program The Decatur Park District’s Park Watch program helps prevent crimes in our parks, properties and facilities. Park Watch offers rewards for information leading to the arrest of individuals responsible for these crimes. Please be on the look-out. Park District property belongs to all in our community and is supported by tax dollars. If you witness suspicious activity or have a tip, call Park Watch at 422-5911. You may receive a cash reward of up to $1,000. All tips and information are helpful, and you may remain anonymous. Decatur Park District Earns State Awards! 2012 was a banner year for the Decatur Park District, as it earned IAPD Best of the Best awards last fall for its partnerships with Decatur Memorial Hospital (Best Friend of Illinois Parks) and Decatur Public School District #61 (Intergovernmental Cooperation)! At the parks conference in January, the Park District earned recognition as a Distinguished Accredited Agency, and Park Board President Chris Riley was named IAPD Commissioner of the Year! Riley was selected from among 2,100 elected board members at 460 park districts, forest preserves, and conservation districts across the state of Illinois.

We Care about Your Safety The Decatur Park District cares about the safety of our visitors and strives to ensure that playground equipment, park grounds and facilities remain in excellent condition. Please help us in this effort! Follow posted safety rules and note age designations for appropriate use of playground equipment. Insurance While the Park District is committed to conducting recreation programs and activities in the safest manner possible, an inherent risk of injury exists with any recreational activity. The Decatur Park District does not carry medical accident insurance for injuries sustained on its property or in its programs, as the cost of such insurance would make program fees cost-prohibitive. ADA Accessibility Survey To ensure that the Park District complies with the Americans with Disabilities Act, in Spring 2012, we began a survey process conducted by Recreation Accessibility Consultants. Fifty-six parks and facilities were reviewed, and results have been compiled in a 6-volume document that is available at the Administrative Office, 620 E. Riverside Ave. For more information, contact Mandy Childress at 422-5911.

Park District Class/Activity Registration The Park District’s resident/non-resident fee structure was developed to ensure the fairest possible pricing for programs and services. Decatur residents make contributions to the operation of the agency through their property taxes. If you live within Decatur Park District boundaries, you benefit from “resident” rates. To receive this rate, you will need to provide proof of residency the first time you register. Proof will not be required again, unless your address changes. Acceptable forms of proof include a valid driver’s license or current electric, gas, or water bill. Online Online registration for most Park District classes and activities is available! To begin the online registration process and set up your household account, create an account at decatur-parks.org, visit the DISC in person, or call 429-3472. If you already have a current household

account, user ID, and password, simply log on to decaturparks.org and select the programs you wish! Mail, Phone, Fax, or Register in Person! You may also mail, fax, or phone in your completed registration form. VISA, MasterCard, Discover, American Express, check, and debit cards are all accepted.
