We Care about Your Safety The Decatur Park District cares about the safety of our visitors and strives to ensure that playground equipment, park grounds and facilities remain in excellent condition. Please help us in this effort! Follow posted safety rules and note age designations for appropriate use of playground equipment. Insurance While the Park District is committed to conducting recreation programs and activities in the safest manner possible, an inherent risk of injury exists with any recreational activity. The Decatur Park District does not carry medical accident insurance for injuries sustained on its property or in its programs, as the cost of such insurance would make program fees cost-prohibitive. Decatur Park District Earns State Awards! Last fall, the Decatur Park District’s partnership with Millikin University and the outstanding leadership of Staley Striders Coach Mike Landacre contributed to the receipt of two prestigious IL Association of Park Districts (IAPD) awards: the “2014 Partnership” and “2014 Good Sportsmanship” awards. Nearly 15 years ago, when the Decatur Park District sought a partner to share in the construction and operation of a new 87,000 square-foot sports center, it found a perfect match in Millikin University. The DISC now benefits hundreds of students and staff, as well as the greater Decatur community. Capitalizing upon unique resources and expertise, the Park District and Millikin also share facilities and professionals in golf, sports, and the arts. For years, Millikin has been a valued partner, offering unprecedented opportunities for collaboration. The “Good Sportsmanship Award” recognizes exemplary efforts of volunteer coaches. Mike Landacre has been involved with the Decatur Park District’s Staley Striders program for more than 26 years, serving first as a parent guide and cheerleader, then assistant coach, and finally head coach. In 2000, Mike was instrumental in starting Striders Indoor Track & Field. Then in 2009, he added Striders Youth Cross Country to his coaching resume. In all disciplines, Mike leads athletes to the highest levels of the sport, but his hallmark is caring just as much about youth who want to run for the joy of running as the decorated athlete. Thank you, Millikin University and Mike Landacre!

Park District Class/Activity Registration The Park District’s resident/non-resident fee structure was developed to ensure the fairest possible pricing for programs and services. Decatur residents make contributions to the operation of the agency through their property taxes. If you live within Decatur Park District boundaries, you benefit from “resident” rates. To receive this rate, you will need to provide proof of residency the first time you register. Proof will not be required again, unless your address changes. Acceptable forms of proof include a valid driver’s license or current electric, gas, or water bill. Online Online registration for most Park District classes and activities is available! To begin the online registration process and set up your household account, create an account at decatur-parks.org, visit the DISC in person, or call 429-3472. If you already have a current household
account, user ID, and password, simply log on to decaturparks.org and select the programs you wish! Mail, Phone, Fax, or Register in Person! You may also mail, fax, or phone in your completed registration form. VISA, MasterCard, Discover, American Express, check, and debit cards are all accepted.
