Zoo Teens If you are interested in a career involving animals, Zoo Teens is a fun, educational way to learn. Application is available at scovillzoo.com. Recommendation letters and volunteer hours are required. Parks Insider Kite Day Dozens of kites will paint the sky for this annual spring tradition, sponsored by the Illinois Association of Park Districts and celebrated by park districts statewide. Bring your kite and enjoy professional flying demonstrations. Date: Saturday, April 25 Time: 1 - 3 p.m. Fee: Free Location: Sinawik Park, 1715 S. 32nd St.

Baseball/Softball Aquafina MLB Pitch, Hit & Run Boys and girls aged 7 - 14 have the opportunity to showcase their baseball and softball skills in the Aquafina MLB Pitch, Hit & Run! Participants may advance to the team championships at Busch Stadium during a Cardinals game and may qualify for the national finals at the MLB All-Star Game! Baseball Hitting & Pitching Lessons Jim Stewart works with athletes one-on-one at the DISC, offering insights on different hitting and pitching philosophies and techniques. Full hour and 1/2 hour sessions are available. Call Coach Stewart at 972-1923 to reserve your time slot! Softball Hitting & Pitching Lessons Players of all skill levels will enhance their hitting and pitching skills! Hitters will learn various hitting techniques, improve hand-eye coordination, and adjust to different pitches at the plate. For pitchers, drills, ball movement and placement, and basic pitch selection will be covered. Each time slot is a 30-minute, one-on-one lesson for 3 weeks. Park Watch Program Park Watch helps prevent crimes in our parks, properties, and facilities. All tips are appreciated, and you may receive a reward for information leading to the arrest of people responsible for these crimes. Tips can be made anonymously. • Please be on the lookout for suspicious activity. • If you have a tip, call Park Watch at 422-5911. • You may receive a cash reward of up to $1,000.

Preschool Fun at the DISC Toddler Open Gym (Infants - 5 years) Need some active entertainment? Bring your children to the DISC! MidState Soccer Spring Little Kritters Soccer In this 5-week program specially designed for U4 and U5 players, a story book is provided, which highlights 11 animals that possess unique soccer skills. MidState coaches help participants learn these skills through fun activities. Parents are encouraged to read the book with their child to help prepare them for each session. 3v3 & 4v4 Summer Rec Leagues In this 3-week summer league, players aged 6 - 9 will play 3v3 and players aged 10 - 14 will play 4v4. Teams are guaranteed two games each Thursday, consisting of 10 minute halves using PUGG goals. Team max is 6 players for 3v3 and 8 players for 4v4 with no goalkeeper. Age divisions and teams will be determined once registration closes. Gary Shaw, Millikin Director of Bands, returns to direct the Greater Decatur Youth Band! This program is designed for instrumentalists who are looking for superior summer instruction and includes performances at Kiwanis Park Ice Cream Social on July 1, Cresthaven Park on July 15, the Millikin University quad on July 22, and at the Fairview Park Lantern Parade on August 5. Spring Dance Recital You Ought to Be Dancin! will feature the Park District’s dance students, aged 3 - adult, and high school senior dancers. Summer Strings If you’re looking for top-notch orchestra instruction, join the Summer Strings program, which allows youth in grades 1 - 9 to enhance their skills and perform at special events. Instructed by Jason Zimmerman. Sessions are on Tuesdays and Thursdays. B.O.S.S., Jr. will present the Magic Tree House favorite Dinosaurs Before Dark and B.O.S.S., Sr. will present the high energy Legally Blonde! Jr. Each camp is directed by our professional, experienced musical theatre staff. The program is directed by Marie Jagger-Taylor. Registration ends June 15.
