Friday 13th Trailer

Recreated

We had noticed that the film was distributed by Paramount and Produced by New Line Cinema therefore we had decided to add the cinematic towards the beginning of the film.

The first screen is a close up of the girl crunched up into a corner. They have probably used this shot to ensure that the audience know that she is scared. So, we used this effect to add into our recreation, we used an infect to make the audience feel lost and confused. The second scene is where the killer in Friday the 13th was in the process of using a violent action. We had noticed it was a mid close up therefore we tried to copy the same effect. We feel they might have used this to create the effect of the audience being part of the film.

The Friday the 13th logo came towards the end of the film and we had decided to do the same thing, however, we had changed the logo to make sure that our recreation of the film was fresh and original. You can say that the trailer offers an establishing shot of the setting to show the audience where the film will take place. We had used the same effect and after a long time searching for the appropriate setting we had found a decent place to take a shot of.

The use of the numbers within the original trailer was used to promote the film but also cause the audience to be aware of the amount of horror the viewers will be able to see, if, they choose to watch the film. The trailer showed this high angle of the missing posters to tell the story in the trailer, we had tried to create the same angle ourselves to make the same effect the trailer had intended to do.

Michael Bay was the producer who created the whole film and it would have only been right to acknowledge him in our recreation of the film. We used a simple black background with the name to the side to create it exactly the same This shot in the trailer was the first establishing shot to be shown. With the facilities we had we were only able to find this location, however, we still think that it is able to set the tone for the story and setting like the original had managed too.

We were not able to create the drive scene as it was too short notice, however we able to gather the medium shot of all the characters together in one place, as we only had three group members it was hard to introduce the same amount of number as the original but we feel that we had made the most out of the situation. The second shot is a dark shot to show that the characters have split up, and we had done the same with our trailer where one of our characters had gone missing. This shows that both trailer stick with the conventions of horror as the big rule in films is to not split up!

We had noticed that a number of establishing shot were used in the film which had prompt us to recreate most of them. We feel that this may have been effective for the original as it showed what the characters where going to be up against. Therefore we had found a location which matched the ambition of the original. Friday 13th trailer had used this approach to get more of an audience for this film. As Texas Chainsaw Massacre we a successful film, viewers may want to view the film from the same director. Therefore we had used the same idea.

We had to add a scene where one of the characters looked lost and terrified. We thought this would be an advantage on trailers as this could allow the audience to be scared and terrified too. So we used the same mid shot used in the original. The Extreme close up of the feet could have been used for the trailer to show the audience how terrified the characters could be that they would have to watch their every step. We used the same effect because we thought that it would be effective.

Another action of the film is to show how fast paced the trailer was going and how much action was also in the film. This would keep the blood pumping of the viewers as well as keep them guessing as to why actions where used and if they survived. An Over the shoulder shot was used in the original so we thought it would be great to recreate it. We can see that the victim is running for her life, we used this same effect towards the end if the trailer for a fast paced finished as the original had also did.

Her looking out the window shows that she was insecure at the location she is on, or wasn’t sure of what she heard. We tried to create that same effect where the characters in the scene are scared of what they just heard. We use a two shot rather than a mid shot to show variety and fear between the two characters.
