Stacy Ybarra Tashlich Family Program
On Sunday, October 2nd we enjoyed an outdoor Family Tashlich Program. Our kindergarten through fifth grade families joined with our Families with Young Children for a zimriyah, writing our misdeeds on water dissolving paper and then a bubble tashlich! Afterwards we learned about saying “I’m Sorry” and teshuvah by playing with a parachute, doing the “Teshuvah Trot” (a line dance to the tune of hokey-pokey), playing corn hole and playing an apology/forgiveness game. We ended the morning with a picnic lunch.

Additional School Updates
Our 6th and 7th grade programs have continued to be held this year on Shabbat mornings instead of Sunday mornings. Our students amaze us each week with their behavior and participation! Our lay leaders are taking turns working with the 7th grade for about an hour. Contact Stacy Ybarra if you would like to spend time discussing the weekly parashah with them (materials are provided). Our 7th graders have just begun the first part of their Holocaust Unit. We have the pleasure again this year of having Mark Gelfeld, a docent at the Illinois Holocaust Museum, teach. Mark will teach on 4 consecutive Tuesdays (which began on October 25th) and part of the hour program will be a tour of the museum on Sunday, November 20th. Parents are encouraged to participate with their students. Our 7th graders are also participating in minyan on Tuesdays. If you are interested in participating in the Religious School by substitute teaching, teaching or being part of our School Board, please contact Stacy Ybarra at sybarra@bethshalomnb.org.
